Inventions.... forces of nature.... faith....

In the age of modern technology, the forces of nature will make a particularly noticeable appearance, as the aim is to prove to people that all earthly ability and knowledge is of no use if the will of God is not respected. The more a person is convinced of himself and his abilities, the more likely he is to deny divine power and his own dependence on it. And the more necessary it is then that the divine power expresses itself. The human being's development necessitates all kinds of facilities to which the divine creator gives His blessing if they arise for the benefit and piety of all humanity.... And all spirit, which is expressed in technical inventions, seeks to have a favourable effect on humanity in order to facilitate its striving for the heights, and thus to a certain extent places itself at the service of humanity. However, it is unexplored forces that provide support where man becomes arrogant. And it is precisely these forces that assert themselves in unforeseen natural disasters.... no matter what kind. Wherever man believes that he has found infallible proof that he can utilize some natural force and banish it by his own efforts, an unjustified natural force comes into play and renders previous experience invalid. Man is given the ability by God to utilize the power from God, but always in the same proportion as he relates himself to God. And that person who recognizes God Himself in all natural power will be able to show undreamt-of success.... who, as it were, tackles all work with God that is for the good of humanity and extends to inventions of all kinds. His research and attempts will be crowned with success, and the divine power will, as it were, overflow into such inventions, while the person who believes to draw from himself and is aware of his extraordinary power (will certainly also request the power from God and will not withhold it from him, but he) will to a certain extent take possession of it unlawfully because he presumes to exclude divinity and thus does not subordinate himself to the divine will.... A counter-current will soon make itself felt there. Obstacles upon obstacles will stand in the way of the person working without divine assistance and he will not be able to master them as he relies on himself and does not ask for help.... And these obstacles will again be due to forces of nature, because everything that acts contrary to divine order will, as it were, also have to bear the consequences of this. And thus, despite overcoming many technical difficulties, the human being will always be backward as long as he does not see in the reign of the natural elements proof that all forces in nature are subject to a lord and creator and that his endeavours will therefore only be successful when he himself likewise fits into the divine order and he is only willing to carry out what corresponds to God's will....

Uitvindingen - Natuurkrachten - Geloven - Natuurmachten

In het tijdperk van de moderne techniek zullen de natuurmachten zich in het bijzonder merkbaar uiten. Want het gaat erom de mens het bewijs te leveren, dat al het aardse kunnen en weten niets waard is wanneer de Wil van God niet wordt geacht. Hoe meer de mens van zichzelf en zijn kunnen overtuigd is, des te eerder betwist hij de goddelijke Kracht en zijn eigen afhankelijkheid ervan. En des te noodzakelijker is het, dat de goddelijke Kracht zich uit. De ontwikkelingsgang van de mens brengt velerlei voorzieningen met zich mee, waaraan de goddelijke Schepper Zijn Zegen geeft als ze tot ontwikkeling komen ten bate van de gehele mensheid. En alle geest die in technische uitvindingen tot uitdrukking komt, probeert gunstig op de mens in te werken om haar het streven opwaarts te gaan te verlichten en stelt zich zo dus in zekere zin in dienst van de mensheid.

Doch ondoorgrondelijke krachten zijn het, die daar een halt toeroepen waar de mens arrogant wordt. En juist deze krachten doen zich gevoelen in onvoorzien losbarstende natuurcatastrofen, om het even van welke aard.

Overal, waar de mens gelooft onmiskenbare bewijzen te hebben gevonden, zich één of andere natuurkracht ten nutte te kunnen maken en ze te kunnen verbannen, en dit uit eigen kracht, komt er een natuurkracht tevoorschijn, waar niet op gerekend is, en maakt de tot nu toe geldende ervaring ongegrond.

De mens is door God het vermogen gegeven zich de Kracht uit God ten nutte te maken, echter steeds in dezelfde verhouding zoals hij zich zelf tegenover God instelt. En die in alle natuurkracht God Zelf herkent, die in zekere zin met God begint aan elke arbeid die het welzijn van de mensheid betreft en betrekking heeft op uitvindingen van allerlei aard, zal op onverwachte successen kunnen bogen.

Diens onderzoeken en pogen zal met succes bekroond zijn en de goddelijke Kracht zal als het ware in zulke uitvindingen overgaan, terwijl hij die gelooft uit zichzelf te scheppen en de zich van zijn buitengewone kracht bewuste mens, ook wel de Kracht uit God opvraagt, deze hem ook niet onthouden wordt, maar hij neemt ze in zekere zin onrechtmatig in bezit, omdat hij zich aanmatigt de Goddelijkheid uit te schakelen en zich dus niet onder de goddelijke Wil plaatst.

Daar zal zich spoedig een tegenstroming doen gevoelen. Hindernis na hindernis zullen hem, die zonder goddelijke bijstand werkt, dus de weg versperren. En hij zal ze niet de baas worden, daar hij zich op zichzelf verlaat en geen hulp voor zichzelf vraagt. En deze hindernissen zullen wederom aan natuurmachten zijn toe te schrijven, omdat alles, wat tegen de goddelijke ordening in handelt, in zekere zin ook de gevolgen ervan moet dragen.

En zo wordt, ondanks menigvuldige overwinning van technische moeilijkheden, de mens steeds achterhaald, zolang hij in het heersen der natuurelementen geen bewijs ziet, dat alle krachten in de natuur onderworpen zijn aan een Heer en Schepper en dat bijgevolg zijn inspanning pas succes zal hebben, wanneer hij zich eveneens voegt naar de goddelijke ordening en hij alleen maar genegen is te verwezenlijken wat overeenstemt met Gods Wil.
