The soul chooses its own whereabouts....

The soul has chosen its stay in the flesh for itself and therefore the objection that the human being is forced to be what he is on earth is unfounded. The being has even received an exact description of earth life beforehand, the path on earth has been presented to it, likewise also the degree of maturity which can be reached in this very life, and the being has therefore put on the body of flesh in fullest agreement and has consciously become that to which it has previously given its consent. If the earthly life does not bring him maturity through his own fault, then this is merely due to the will or rather unwillingness of the human being who does not utilize life on earth in the way it can be utilized. Anyone who neglects to be lovingly active on earth has lived his life in vain, and this activity in love is precisely what is needed to reach the state of perfection. And if the soul considers that the embodiment as a human being imposes all kinds of fetters on it, if it considers that opportunities are offered everywhere to loosen these fetters and to be able to reach a truly high degree of maturity in a short time, then the realization of the missed life is so unspeakably bitter for it that remorse for the missed opportunity means true hell for it.... And all spiritual strength cannot succeed in sparing the soul this state of remorse, and therefore it will still powerfully influence the soul during its earthly existence.... and tries to influence a misguided being spiritually as well as physically and to awaken the soul's sense of responsibility so that it will recognize its task on earth and pay more attention to its work of liberation. Once the human being has imagined that only his will liberates him from his fetters, but that otherwise the wrong will also endangers the soul's later life, then he no longer lives thoughtlessly into the day but seeks to gain spiritual advantages for himself, and at the same time he uses all opportunities to practice love for his neighbour, for the soul senses its real task precisely in this, moreover it also likes to dwell in the spheres where it does not feel the pressure of the body. It has certainly taken life upon itself with the intention to use it in order to reach perfection, but the wrong thinking in earthly life mostly comes from the fact that the soul does not reach this state quickly enough and therefore holds itself harmless on earth, i.e. it regards the illusory goods as the right good and misjudges the true purpose on earth, but then seeks the supposed guilt in an earthly life which is extraordinarily burdensome for it, while it creates this burdensome state for itself. A right life on earth that is pleasing to God in active neighbourly love will allow the human being to rise above himself in such a way that he will no longer be aware of the seemingly miserable circumstances and thus the self-chosen life in the flesh will bring him the fullest redemption....

혼은 스스로 머무를 곳을 선택한다.

혼은 자신이 육체 안에 거할 처소를 스스로 택했다. 그러므로 인간이 이 땅에서 그렇게 된 것은 그가 그렇게 되도록 강요를 받았기 때문이라는 이의는 근거가 없다. 심지어 존재는 사전에 이 땅의 삶을 정확하게 설명을 받았고, 이 땅의 삶과 바로 이 삶에서 달성할 수 있는 성숙의 정도를 제시 받았다. 존재는 전적으로 동의하는 가운데 육신을 입었고, 이 전에 자신이 의식하는 가운데 동의한대로 되었다. 만약에 그가 이 땅의 삶에서 자신의 잘못으로 인해 성숙에 이르지 못했다면, 이일은 단지 이 땅에서 삶을 사용할 수 있는 방식으로 사용하지 않는 사람의 의지 또는 의지가 없음으로 인해 일어난 일이다.

이 땅에서 사랑을 행하는 일을 하지 않은 사람의 삶은 헛되게 산 삶이다. 사랑을 행하는 일이 온전함에 도달하기 위해 가장 필수적인 일이다. 인간으로 육신을 입는 일이 혼의 모든 종류의 사슬을 물리치는 것을 생각한다면, 혼이 이런 족쇄를 풀고 단시간에 진정으로 높은 수준의 성숙을 이룰 수 있는 기회가 어디에서나 제공된다는 것을 생각한다면, 잘못된 삶에 대한 깨달음이 그들을 말할 수 없이 쓰라리게 하고, 놓친 기회를 향한 후회가 그들에게 진정한 지옥을 의미한다.

모든 영의 세력이 혼에게 이런 회개의 상태를 피하게 해주는 일에 성공할 수 없다. 그러므로 영의 세력은 혼이 이 땅에서 사는 동안 혼에게 큰 영향을 미치고, 영적으로나 육체적으로 잘못된 길을 가는 존재에게 영향을 미치고, 혼의 책임감을 일깨워, 혼이 자신의 이 땅의 과제를 깨닫게 하여, 자신을 해방시키는 일에 더 많은 관심을 갖게 한다. 사람이 단지 한번 자신의 의지가 자신을 족쇄에서 자유롭게 한다는 것을 생각한다면, 그렇지 않으면 잘못된 의지가 그의 혼의 나중 삶을 위태롭게 할 것을 생각한다면, 그는 더 이상 생각 없이 하루 하루를 살지 않고, 영적인 유익을 얻으려고 시도하고, 동시에 이웃에게 사랑을 행할 수 있는 모든 기회를 활용한다. 왜냐하면 혼이 바로 그런 일에서 자신의 진정한 과제를 느끼고, 게다가 혼이 육체의 억압을 더 이상 느끼지 않기 때문에 혼은 또한 그런 영역에서 자원하여 머물기 때문이다.

혼은 온전함에 도달하기 위해 사용하려는 의도로 스스로 삶을 택했다. 그러나 이 땅의 삶에서 잘못된 생각은 대부분 혼이 빠르게 이런 상태에 도달하지 못하고, 이로써 세상의 것을 해가 되지 않는 것으로 여기는 데 있다. 다시 말해 겉보기의 재물을 옳은 재물로 여기고, 이 땅의 진정한 목적은 깨닫지 못한다. 그러면 혼 자신이 이런 짐이 되는 상태를 만들면서, 이에 대한 책임을 혼에게 특별하게 힘이 들게 하는 이 땅의 삶에서 찾는다. 이웃 사랑을 행하는 가운데 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 올바른 이 땅의 삶이 자신을 넘어서는 성장을 하게 하여, 그가 겉으로 보기에 불행해 보이는 상황을 더 이상 전혀 깨닫지 못하게 한다. 그러므로 그가 스스로 택한 육체 안에 거하는 삶이 전적인 구원에 이르게 한다.
