Purity of heart.... happiness of union.... weakness of faith....

In the purity of the heart the human being is able to feel the presence of the lord, for it is the first condition for specialization and thus the occurrence of the divine spirit of love. Man cannot yet grasp the difference between a being walking with or without the lord in it. For the former is still a foreign concept to him as long as he does not experience it in himself. Yet the union of the spirit of God with the divine spiritual spark in the human being is so extremely intoxicating and therefore also indescribable that everyone would strive to experience this happiness. But this cannot be achieved in any other way than through profound faith and a God-pleasing way of life which consists of utmost love towards his neighbour and is thus rooted in love for God. He who is pure of heart lives, so to speak, according to divine will and thus draws divinity itself to himself. However, purity of heart is also necessary in order to receive God as the purest, most honourable being in it.... clear and blameless must be the way of life of the one whom the divine saviour appreciates in His presence.... love must adorn the heart for the most splendid stay for the lord.... and His all-encompassing love will outshine everything, and unification will now be able to take place.... When the need approaches the human being and he threatens to become wavering, a barrier is always set again which prevents the divine saviour from entering the heart, for faith is weak.... and only a strong, rock-solid faith opens the door of the heart. The incomprehensible happiness would be unbearable with weak faith, it would make the human being completely unsuitable for earthly fulfilment of duty, but strong faith, on the other hand, would enable the human being to be extraordinarily active on earth, and thus it will be understandable to you that your weakness of faith is still an obstacle and that you have to struggle in prayer so that you will first master your doubts in order to be able to enjoy the great happiness while still on earth. A heart cleansed of all dross will, as it were, also banish all doubts and thus await the lord with complete faith, and through this profound faith it will consciously be able to bring about unification in the shortest time, but the doubter will still be denied the highest happiness on earth until he has convinced himself to have the strongest faith....

심장의 순수함. 연합의 행복. 약한 믿음.

순수한 심장을 가진 사람은 주님의 임재를 느낄 수 있다. 왜냐하면 순수한 심장이 하나님의 사랑의 영이 특별하게 되는 일이, 즉 능력을 나타내는 일의 첫 번째 조건이기 때문이다. 그러나 사람은 존재가 주님과 동행하며 사느냐, 동행하지 않고 사느냐의 차이를 아직 파악할 수 없다. 전자는 그가 스스로 경험하지 않는 한, 그가 아직 알지 못하는 개념이기 때문이다. 그러나 하나님의 영과 인간 안의 하나님의 영의 불꽃의 결합은 너무 황홀한 일이고, 그러므로 이 행복은 모든 사람이 이런 행복을 경험하기 위해 노력할 정도로 묘사할 수 없다. 그러나 이런 행복에 단지 최대한의 이웃을 향한 사랑을 행함으로 구성된 하나님을 향한 사랑에 뿌리를 둔 깊은 믿음과 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 삶의 방식을 통해서가 아닌 다른 방법으로는 성취할 수 없다.

심장이 순수하고, 어느 정도 하나님의 뜻에 따라 사는 사람은 신성 자체를 자신에게 끌어드린다. 하나님을 가장 순결하고 고귀한 존재로 자신 안으로 영접하기 위해서는 순결한 심장이 필요하다. 하나님의 구세주의 임재를 체험하기에 합당한 사람의 삶의 방식은 선명하고 흠이 없어야만 한다. 주님을 위한 가장 화려한 거처가 되도록 사랑이 심장을 장식해야만 한다. 그러면 주님의 모든 것을 포용하는 사랑이 모든 것보다 빛날 것이고, 이제 연합이 이뤄질 수 있게 될 것이다.

사람에게 이제 위험이 닥치고, 그가 흔들릴 위험에 처하면, 항상 하나님의 구세주가 심장에 들어오지 못하게 막는 장벽이 설치된다. 왜냐하면 믿음이 약하기 때문이다. 단지 강하고 확고한 믿음이 심장의 문을 연다. 믿음이 약하면, 상상할 수 없는 행복을 견딜 수 없게 될 것이고, 이 땅의 의무를 완수하기에 완전히 부적당하게 될 수 있다. 그러나 반면에 강한 믿음은 인간에게 그가 이 땅에서 특별한 일을 할 수 있는 능력을 줄 것이다. 그러므로 너의 연약한 믿음이 네에게 장애물이고, 네가 이 땅에 큰 행복을 누리기 위해 먼저 의심을 물리치기 위해 먼저 기도로 싸워야만 한다는 것을 이해할 수 있게 될 것이다.

모든 불순물로부터 깨끗해진 심장은 동시에 모든 의심을 없앨 것이다. 그러므로 온전한 믿음으로 주님을 기다리게 될 것이다. 이런 깊은 믿음을 통해 아주 짧은 시간 내에 의식적으로 연합을 이룰 수 있다. 그러나 의심하는 사람은 그가 가장 강한 믿음에 도달하기까지는 이 땅에서 가장 높은 행복을 아직 얻지 못하게 될 것이다.
