Earthly possessions and self-love.... spiritual possessions and charity....

A wide field of activity will always be working in love, you will be able to practice it constantly if only your will is inclined towards the eternal deity. You will also recognize from the abundance of unkindness amongst people how far the human being's spirit has distanced itself from God-consciousness.... how he only ever seeks to satisfy his 'ego' and all the love he is capable of is only for this ego. And only evil ever emanates from this self-love.... The addiction to possess everything imaginable for oneself is the cause of all the vices and bad habits that then adhere to such a self-loving person. You can already see this in the simple process of increasing goods. Man will only ever endeavour to acquire for himself everything that seems desirable to him and will not shy away from any means of obtaining it that violate God's commandments.... He will appropriate unlawfully or try to harm his fellow man through cunning and deceit.... he will not shy away from lying if it only brings him the slightest advantage. But he will never cultivate love for his fellow human being and will therefore lack everything that can bring him closer to the eternal deity. However, activity in true neighbourly love will have the same beneficial effect. The human being will always endeavour to protect his fellow human being from everything that he himself deems detrimental, and he will always remain in the truth and act in accordance with God's commandments and thus also be able to enjoy God's presence at all times by engaging in works of neighbourly love. Whoever selflessly does good to his fellow human being, his spiritual possessions will increase and earn him an everlasting reward in the hereafter, and only the will of man is needed to be allowed to enjoy the highest delights after bodily death. The temptations of the world are the counterweight, and man in his delusion does not recognize the worthlessness of earthly pleasures but seeks to seize them by all means, and his fate in the beyond is therefore a meagre, joyless one, because he will be granted the same amount as he gave to his fellow human beings in earthly life. He who only loves himself too much can never attain divine grace, for the lord will never bless his actions and endeavours.... Only the exercise of love for one's neighbour assures him of such. He who willingly gives of his possessions will receive twice, and not only earthly, but to an even greater extent spiritually, for love is the highest, and only through love can man redeem himself already on earth....

Il possesso terreno e l’amor proprio - Il possesso spirituale e l’amore per il prossimo

Un ampio campo d’attività sarà sempre l’agire nell’amore, in questo potrete esercitarvi costantemente, se soltanto la vostra volontà si avvicina all’eterna Divinità. Nella pienezza del disamore fra gli uomini riconoscerete anche, quanto lo spirito dell’uomo si è allontanato dalla consapevolezza di Dio, come egli cerca sempre la soddisfazione del suo “io” e tutto l’amore di cui è capace, è per questo io. E da questo amor proprio procede sempre soltanto il male. La brama, di possedere per sé tutto l’immaginabile, è il motivo di tutti i vizi e difetti, che poi sono attaccati ad uno che è nell’amor proprio. Lo vedete già nel semplice procedere nell’aumentare i beni. L’uomo aspirerà sempre soltanto a conquistare tutto per sé di ciò che gli sembra desiderabile, e per ottenerlo non teme nessun mezzo, anche se infrange i Comandamenti di Dio. Se ne approprierà illegittimamente, oppure cercherà anche di danneggiare il prossimo mediante l’astuzia e l’inganno, non temerà la bugia, se soltanto gli procura il minimo vantaggio. Ma non curerà mai l’amore per il prossimo, e con questo gli manca tutto ciò che può portarlo più vicino all’eterna Divinità. Nella stessa misura però avrà l’effetto benevolo l’attività nel vero amore per il prossimo. L’uomo si sforzerà sempre di proteggere il prossimo contro tutto ciò che a lui stesso sembra svantaggioso, e rimarrà sempre nella Verità ed agirà secondo i Comandamenti di Dio e potrà anche gioire in ogni momento della Presenza di Dio mediante l’agire di opere nell’amore per il prossimo. Chi dimostra del bene al prossimo in modo disinteressato, il suo possesso spirituale aumenterà e gli procurerà nell’aldilà una ricompensa imperitura, e ci vuole soltanto la volontà dell’uomo, di poter gioire delle massime delizie dopo la morte corporea. Le tentazioni del mondo sono il peso opposto, e l’uomo nel suo abbaglio non riconosce il cattivo valore delle gioie terrene, ma cerca con tutti i mezzi di procurarsele, e la sua sorte nell’aldilà sarà perciò miseria, assenza di gioia, perché gli verrà dato nella stessa misura, come ha dato ai suoi prossimi nella vita terrena. Chi ama troppo soltanto sé stesso, non può mai conquistarsi la Grazia divina, perché il Signore non benedirà mai il suo fare e sfaccendare. Soltanto l’esercizio dell’amore per il prossimo gli assicura questa. Chi dà volontariamente il suo possesso, riceverà il doppio e non soltanto in modo terreno, ma in misura ancora maggiore in modo spirituale, perché l’amore è il più grande, e soltanto mediante l’amore l’uomo si può già redimere sulla Terra.
