Tod oder Leben.... Überwinden der Welt....

Wer die Welt liebt, der verliert das Leben, wer sie verachtet, gewinnt es.... Denn die Welt bringt der Seele den Tod, Überwindung der Welt aber erweckt sie zum Leben.... Ihr Menschen stehet wohl mitten in der Welt, und es ist eure Erdenaufgabe, auch irdisch den Platz, dahin ihr gestellt wurdet, auszufüllen. Dennoch könnet ihr neben dieser Aufgabe eurer eigentlichen Erdenaufgabe nachkommen: Ihr könnet eurer Seele das Leben geben, indem ihr ein anderes Ziel höher schätzet als die Welt, indem ihr mitten in der Welt geistig strebet.... Diese eure eigentliche Erdenaufgabe erfordert aber zuerst ein Überwinden der Welt, d.h., sie darf euch nicht beherrschen, sondern ihr müsset Herr sein und bleiben über alles, was der Welt angehört.... ihr müsset es als weit unter euch stehend nur soweit beachten, wie es euch dienen soll. Euer Hauptaugenmerk aber sollet ihr auf das geistige Reich richten, das ihr euch erwerben könnet, wenn ihr recht auf Erden lebt. Ihr könnet wählen zwischen Leben und Tod, denn ihr allein bestimmt den Zustand eurer Seele nach dem Ableben des Körpers. Aber ihr könnet niemals das Leben gewinnen, wenn ihr der Welt verfallen seid, wenn nichts anderes eure Gedanken bewegt als nur das Erreichen irdischer Güter und Ziele.... Bedenket dies wohl und trachtet danach, der Seele das Leben zu geben.... Beides zugleich, das irdische und das geistige Reich, könnet ihr nicht besitzen oder gewinnen, ihr müsset euch entscheiden für das eine oder das andere, denn beide Reiche sind gegensätzlich wie auch die Anforderungen, die jedes Reich an euch stellt. Aber denket daran, daß das eine Reich vergänglich ist, das andere dagegen ewig währt.... Und wendet euere Kraft, eure Sorgen und Anstrengungen nicht an für etwas Wertloses, was ihr doch wieder verlieret, sondern nützet jegliche Lebenskraft, um Ewigkeitswerte zu gewinnen. Leben oder Tod ist das Resultat eures Erdenlebens, und ihr selbst bestimmt dies.... So lasset euch immer wieder mahnen und warnen und euch hinweisen auf euer Lebensende, dem ihr nicht entgehen könnet, das euch als Gewißheit vor Augen steht. Wollet ihr leben ewiglich und den irdischen Tod nicht zu fürchten brauchen, dann müsset ihr auch für dieses Leben auf Erden schon Sorge tragen, indem ihr die Seele mehr beachtet als euren Körper.... indem ihr deren Leben zu erwecken und zu erhalten suchet und ruhig den Körper darben lasset, der doch nicht ewig leben kann.... Und darum dürfet ihr der Welt nicht zuviel Beachtung schenken, die nur dem Körper, aber nicht der Seele dienlich ist. Wenn ihr die Welt als euren Feind ansehet, der nur euch dem Tode ausliefern will.... weil die Welt den Gegner Gottes verkörpert.... dann werdet ihr auch jegliche Liebe zur Welt verlieren und eure Gedanken dem Reich zuwenden, in dem Gott regieret und Dessen Sorge immer nur ist, alles Tote zum Leben zu erwecken, auf daß es in Seinem Reich ewig glückselig sein kann.... Dann wird die Welt auch keine Gefahr mehr sein, dann habt ihr sie überwunden, dann könnet ihr mitten in der Welt stehen und doch für eure Seele das Leben gewinnen, das ewig währet....

Death or life.... Overcoming the world....

He who loves the world will lose his life, he who despises it will gain his life.... For the world brings death to the soul, but overcoming the world awakens it to life.... You humans certainly stand in the midst of the world, and it is your earthly task to carry out the position where you have been placed also in an earthly manner. Nevertheless, apart from this task you can fulfil your actual earthly task: You can give life to your soul by valuing another goal higher than the world, by striving spiritually in the midst of the world. However, this actual earthly task of yours first requires of you to overcome the world, i.e. it must not dominate you but you must be and remain master over everything that belongs to the world.... you must only pay attention to it as far below you as it should serve you. But you should focus your attention on the spiritual kingdom which you can acquire if you live right on earth. You can choose between life and death, for you alone determine the state of your soul after the body's demise. But you can never gain life if you are enslaved by the world, if nothing else occupies your thoughts but only the attainment of earthly goods and goals.... Consider this well and strive to give life to the soul.... You cannot possess or gain both the earthly and the spiritual kingdom at the same time, you must decide for one or the other, for both kingdoms are opposites as are the demands each kingdom makes on you. But remember that one kingdom is transient whereas the other lasts forever.... And do not use your strength, your worries and efforts for something worthless which you will lose again, but use all your vitality to gain eternal values. Life or death is the result of your earthly life, and you yourselves determine this.... So let yourselves be admonished and warned time and again and be reminded of the end of your life, which you cannot escape, which is present to your mind as a certainty. If you want to live forever and not need to fear earthly death, then you must also already on earth take care of this life by paying more attention to the soul than to your body.... by trying to awaken and maintain its life and just allowing the body to live in want, which cannot live forever after all.... And therefore you must not pay too much attention to the world, which only serves the body but not the soul. If you regard the world as your enemy who only wants to hand you over to death.... because the world embodies God's adversary.... then you will also lose all love for the world and turn your thoughts to the kingdom in which God reigns, Whose concern is only ever to awaken everything that is dead to life so that it can be eternally blissful in His kingdom.... Then the world will also no longer be a danger, then you will have overcome it, then you will be able to stand in the midst of the world and yet gain for your soul the life that lasts forever....
