Nemurirea sufletului....

Construcția unei ființe umane necesită întotdeauna aceleași componente, trup, suflet și spirit. Trupul.... învelișul exterior.... îndeplinește funcțiile pe care sufletul le stabilește. Așadar, trupul este doar organul prin care se realizează voința sufletului. Odată cu momentul morții, sufletul nu mai are nevoie de un organ pe care îl slujește ca pe Pământ.... astfel în activitatea vizibilă de creație.... pentru că își schimbă locuința și trece în regiuni în care nu mai este nevoie să se facă nimic vizibil în exterior. Trupul a devenit desuet, care era doar mijlocul pentru cariera pământească în care sufletul trebuia să se transforme în purtător al spiritului divin. Spiritul, cea de-a treia componentă a ființei vii, doarme cu siguranță în fiecare om, dar intră în acțiune doar atunci când voința sufletului îi acordă mai multă atenție decât trupului, deci atunci când sufletul nu ia în serios cerințele pământești la fel de mult ca pe cele pe care i le impune spiritul, ceea ce înseamnă întotdeauna o subordonare a nevoilor pământești. Pentru că trupul, sufletul și spiritul aparțin cu siguranță unul altuia, dar pot urmări obiective separate. Sufletul își poate îndrepta voința mai mult spre cerințele trupului, dar poate și să le ignore și să facă voința sa utilă doar spiritului din el însuși, și tocmai această direcție a voinței determină viața sa în lumea de dincolo, adică starea în care sufletul locuiește după viața pământească, care îi poate aduce fericire sau suferință. Prin urmare, viața pământească, funcția trupului, este doar o etapă temporară în care se află sufletul. Sufletul este împins la orice activitate pe Pământ, dar el nu trebuie nicidecum considerat ca stins dacă trupul nu-și mai poate îndeplini funcția.... Sufletul a părăsit cu siguranță trupul, pentru că acum își are reședința în regiuni unde nu mai are nevoie de un înveliș exterior. Dar a considera că sufletul s-a sfârșit la fel ar fi o viziune complet greșită asupra naturii sale.... Căci sufletul este ceva ce nu poate pieri. El poate, într-adevăr, prin moartea trupească a ființei umane, să nu mai determine corpul pentru funcțiile sale, poate, de asemenea, prin lipsă de maturitate, adică dacă a acordat prea puțină atenție spiritului în sine, să cadă într-o stare de inactivitate; dar niciodată nu poate "să nu mai fie"..... Pentru că este ceva spiritual, care este veșnic, în timp ce trupul este format din substanță pământească, din materie, și de aceea este supus unei schimbări constante, dar în cele din urmă se dizolvă în componentele sale originale de îndată ce sufletul a părăsit trupul....

Immortality of the soul....

The construction of a human being always requires the same components: body, soul and spirit. The body.... the external form.... performs the functions which are determined by the soul. Consequently the body is just the agent through which the soul's will is accomplished. At the moment of death the soul no longer needs an agent for service as it did on earth.... i.e. in the visible work of creation.... because it changes its environment and moves into regions where nothing externally visible needs to be done. The body, which was just the instrument for the earthly path during which the soul should have formed itself into the carrier of the divine spirit, becomes unnecessary.

The spirit, the third component of the living being, lies in fact dormant in every human being and only becomes active when the will of the soul pays more attention to the spirit than to the body, that is, when the soul considers the earthly demands less important than the demands of the spirit, which always amounts to earthly needs becoming secondary. Although body, soul and spirit belong together they nevertheless can have separate goals. The soul can direct its will more towards the demands of the body, but it can also disregard those and make its will available to the spirit within itself. And it is precisely this direction of will that decides its life in the beyond, i.e. the state the soul finds itself in after the earthly life, which can be blissful or distressing. The earthly life, the function of the body, is therefore just a temporary condition for the soul. The soul impels the body to all actions on earth but it has by no means ceased to exist when the body cannot perform its function any longer. The soul has indeed left the body because it moves into regions where it no longer requires an exterior form.

But to consider the soul dead as well would be a completely wrong concept of its essence.... because the soul is something that cannot pass away. Indeed, when the human body is dead the soul can no longer determine it's functions; it can, due to a lack of maturity because it had not given enough consideration to the spirit within itself, also fall into a state of inactivity; but it can never 'cease to exist'. Because the soul is something spiritual that is everlasting, while the body consists of earthly substance, of matter, and is therefore subject to constant change and finally disintegrates into its components as soon as the soul has left the body....
