Opvoeding tot verdraagzaamheid – Arbeid in het hiernamaals

De mens moet zichzelf tot verdraagzaamheid opvoeden, want deze deugd is absoluut noodzakelijk, als de ziel in het hiernamaals aan het verlossingswerk deel wil nemen. Vaak meer nog dan op aarde zal de ziel weerstand ondervinden, als ze de onwetende en lijdende zielen ertoe wil bewegen om aansporingen en onderrichtingen aan te nemen en enkel door het grootste geduld kan ze deze zielen voor zich winnen en nu haar arbeid aan hen beginnen. De toestand van lijden van deze zielen draagt er niet aan bij, dat ze gewillig zijn om op te nemen. Veel eerder wijzen ze de zielen, die hen willen helpen, af, want hun ontbreekt elk geduld, omdat ze nog onvolmaakt zijn.

Maar de al rijpere ziel mag zich niet van de wijs laten brengen. Ze moet met een onvermoeibaar geduld steeds weer proberen om met hen in verbinding te komen. Ze moet hen zelf liefdevol terzijde staan en de aanvankelijke afkeer van hen proberen te veranderen. Ze moet elke mislukte poging herhalen en zodoende steeds weer deze zielen naderen en hen hun smartelijke toestand bekend maken en hen tegelijkertijd adviseren, wat ze moeten doen om de toestand van hun ziel op te heffen.

Enkel het uiterste geduld en de grootste liefde levert hun succes op. Maar dit succes is voor het hulpvaardige wezen onnoemelijk gelukkig makend en spoort het aan om onophoudelijk in het geestelijke rijk werkzaam te zijn. De ziel, die ooit dit geluk geproefd heeft, die in de diepten van het rijk aan de andere kant gekeken heeft, zal nooit ophouden om voor de verlossing van deze wezens actief te zijn. Haar eigen lichttoestand stelt haar in staat om licht door te geven en de liefde voor de onvolmaakte wezens drijft haar hier onophoudelijk toe.

Maar het zachtaardigste gemoed is bevorderlijk, als de rijpere ziel succes wil boeken. Daarom moet op aarde het geduld beoefend worden. De mens moet zachtmoedig, verdraagzaam en steeds bereid zijn om hulp te brengen aan de naaste. Dan zal hij ook zijn taak in het hiernamaals kunnen vervullen, die erin bestaat om het van God afgekeerde geestelijke te bereiken en het vertrouwd te maken met alleen die goederen, die waardevol zijn voor de eeuwigheid.

Education for forbearance.... work in the hereafter....

The human being must train himself to be patient, for this virtue is absolutely necessary if the soul wants to participate in the work of redemption in the beyond. The soul is often resisted more than on earth if it wants to persuade the ignorant and suffering souls to accept admonitions and instructions, and only through utmost patience can it win these souls for itself and then start its work on them. The state of suffering of these souls does not contribute to their willingness to accept, but rather they reject the souls who want to help them, for they still lack all patience as they are imperfect. The already more mature soul, however, must not allow itself to be put off, it must try again and again with tireless patience to get in contact with them, it must lovingly stand by their side and try to change their initial aversion, it must repeat every unsuccessful attempt and thus approach these souls again and again and present to them their painful state and at the same time suggest to them what they should do in order to improve their state of soul. Only extreme patience and great love will bring about success. But this success is unspeakably happy for the helpful being and spurs it on to be constantly active in the spiritual kingdom. The soul that has once tasted this happiness, that has seen into the depths of the kingdom beyond, will never cease to work for the redemption of these beings. Its own state of light enables it to pass on light, and love for the imperfect beings constantly drives it to do so. Yet the gentlest mind is required if the mature soul wants to achieve success. This is why patience has to be practiced on earth, the human being has to be gentle, peaceable and always willing to help his neighbour, then he will also be able to fulfil his task in the beyond, which consists of winning the spiritual beings which are distant from God and making the possessions accessible to them which alone are valuable for eternity....
