Voortdurende strijd tegen het kwaad – Het werkzaam zijn van de geest en het doel

De enorme verantwoordelijkheid van de mens op aarde ten opzichte van zijn ziel zou hem onvermoeibaar moeten laten worstelen, zolang hij op aarde verblijft. In plaats hiervan schudt hij deze van zich af en slaat geen acht op de achteruitgang van zijn ziel, wat weer onnoemelijk funest is voor de ziel. De strijd tegen de boze machten moet onophoudelijk zijn en elke onverschilligheid vergroot de wil van deze boze machten om aan te vallen. En daarom moet de mens steeds harder strijden, naarmate hij onverschilliger ten opzichte van de vijand van zijn ziel is, terwijl de kracht van de boze machten afneemt, naarmate hem meer tegenstand geboden wordt.

Het verlangen naar God en het verafschuwen van al het kwaad verzwakt eveneens de macht van de tegenstander en de ziel ontrukt zich in zekere zin uit de boeien en probeert dus de eeuwige Godheid te naderen. Hoe groter het verlangen naar het licht is, des te meer vermijden de krachten van de onderwereld de aardse mensen. Ze benutten echter elke zwakte van de ziel om met vernieuwde kracht op het wezen, dat aan hen wil ontsnappen, in te werken.

En daarom is voortdurende voorzichtigheid geboden. De mens moet steeds alleen aan zijn ziel denken, die de onverschillige toestand buitengewoon kommervol gewaarwordt. En daarom moet de menselijke wil met grotere kracht werkzaam zijn om de zwakten van het lichaam te overwinnen, opdat de kwade macht geen macht over diens ziel krijgt. Degene die het vragend afsmeekt, wordt alle hulp van boven verleend en daarom is het mensenkind zeker van elke ondersteuning, als zijn wil zich bewust naar de eeuwige Godheid toekeert.

Ontvang in deze zekerheid: De geest, die in jullie werkzaam is, hoort de zachtste opwelling tot het goddelijke in jullie en hij is bereid om elk smeken te vervullen. Hij wil elke twijfel in jullie wegnemen. Hij wil jullie zekerheid geven, waar jullie je vragend tot hem wenden. Hij wil jullie licht brengen, waar jullie in het donker gaan. Hij wil jullie in alle kennis binnenleiden en de weg, die jullie op aarde moeten gaan, voor jullie begaanbaar maken. En daarom heeft zijn werkzaam zijn in jullie steeds alleen maar het doel om tot volle ontwikkeling te komen en jullie tot voortdurend streven aan te sporen. Hij wil het voor jullie mogelijk maken om de jullie op aarde opgelegde taak te vervullen. En zo herkennen jullie daaruit de eindeloze liefde van de Vader, Die Zijn kind bij zou willen staan om dat te bereiken, wat de hoogste gelukzaligheid betekent. Hij zou Zijn kind alles willen doen toekomen, wat de eeuwigheid aan heerlijkheden biedt en stelt hem dus alle middelen ter beschikking om dit doel te bereiken.

Wanneer de eeuwige Godheid zich nu met zulke eindeloze liefde voor haar schepselen inzet, dan moet het ook begrijpelijk zijn, dat de mens er eveneens iets aan moet doen. Dat hij op zijn minst zijn wil, die volledig vrij is, opgeven moet om iets onvergelijkbaar mooiers daarvoor te ontvangen. De Vader verlangt enkel de wil van het kind. Hij verlangt dat dit kind deze wil blij aan de goddelijke wil onderwerpt en het dus zijn bereidwilligheid kenbaar maakt om naar boven te streven en dat het alle gaven, die alleen maar dit ene doel dienen, namelijk om het kind naar de Vader te leiden, dankbaar in ontvangst neemt opdat Hij het nu binnen kan leiden in Zijn rijk. Opdat het voor eeuwig met Hem verbonden blijft en elke scheiding overwonnen is.

Constant battle against evil.... work of the spirit and purpose....

The immense responsibility of the earthly man towards his soul should make him struggle tirelessly as long as he dwells on earth. Instead, he shakes it off and pays no attention to the soul's decline, which in turn is unspeakably ruinous. The battle against the evil powers should be an everlasting one, and every slackening increases their will to attack, and therefore the more careless a person is towards the enemy of his soul, the harder he has to fight, while the more resistance he is offered, the more his strength diminishes. The desire for God and abhorrence of all evil likewise weakens the power of the adversary, and the soul, as it were, escapes from its shackles and thus seeks to approach the eternal deity. The greater the desire for the light, the more the forces of the underworld avoid the earthly human being, but they utilize every weakness of the soul in order to influence the being that wants to escape them with renewed strength. And so constant caution is required, the human being should only ever think of his soul, which feels the state of negligence extremely agonizingly, and therefore the human will has to be active with increased strength in order to overcome the body's weaknesses so that the evil power does not gain power over his soul. All assistance from above will be granted to him if he pleads for it, and thus the earthly child is assured of all support if his will consciously turns to the eternal deity.

Receive in this certainty: The spirit that works in you hears the slightest stirring towards the divine in you, and it is ready to fulfil every plea. He wants to dispel every doubt in you.... he wants to give you certainty where you turn to him with questions.... he wants to bring you light where you walk in darkness.... he wants to introduce you to all knowledge and make the path passable for you which you have to walk on earth.... And so his work in you only ever has the purpose of maturing you and encouraging you to constantly strive. He wants to make it possible for you to fulfil the earthly task you have been given. And thus you will once again regocnize the father's infinite love, Who wants to help His child to achieve that which signifies supreme bliss.... He wants to give His child everything that eternity offers in terms of splendours and therefore provides him with all the means to achieve this goal. If the eternal deity now uses Itself with such infinite love for Its living creations, it must also be understandable that the human being likewise has to do something about it.... that he at least has to surrender his will, which is completely up to him, in order to receive incomparably beautiful things in return. The father only requires the child's will that it joyfully submits itself to the divine will and thus declares its willingness to strive upwards, and that it gratefully accepts all gifts which only serve this one purpose of leading the child towards the father so that He can now introduce it into His kingdom.... so that it remains eternally united to Him and all separation is overcome.
