잠을 자고 있는 너희는 깨어나 일하라. 왜냐면 종말까지 너희에게 주어진 날이 단지 짧기 때문이다. 모든 게으르고 부주의하게 한 일은 복수를 할 것이고, 부지런하고 올바른 진지함으로 일을 행한 사람이 단지 영원한 생명을 의미하는 축복을 받을 것이다. 반면에 실패한 모든 사람은 멸망을 받게 된다. 잠을 자고 있는 너희는 깨어나 너희 주변을 살펴보라. 그러면 너희는 이미 가까이 다가온 종말의 징조를 알려주는 변화를 느낄 수 있게 될 것이다. 너희는 어떤 일도 우연이라고 생각해서는 안 되고, 어떤 일도 이유 없이 너희에게 닥치지 않고, 그러므로 너희가 주의를 기울여야만 한다는 것을 알아야만 한다.

아무 일도 하지 않게 되지 말라. 왜냐면 그런 일은 부인할 수 없는 위험으로부터 구원하는 대신 단지 멸망을 받게 하기 때문이고, 끊임없이 일하는 사람이 단지 위험을 다스릴 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 너희의 활동은 너희의 지식을 증가시키고, 이런 지식을 이웃에게 전하고, 단지 내가 너희에게 답해줄 수 있는 질문을 자신에게 하고, 나에게 가르쳐 주기를 요청하는 일이 되야 한다. 그러면 나는 생각을 통해 너희에게 올바른 답을 주고, 너희가 심장의 음성을 통해 너희에게 조언한 일을 행하도록 자극해줄 것이다. 다시 말해 모든 선한 의지를 가진 사람은 혼의 평화를 확보하기 위해 그가 무엇을 해야 하고 무엇을 하지 말아야 하는 지를 깨닫게 될 것이다.

그는 깨어 있고 잠을 자는 가운데 유혹자의 손에 떨어지게 되지 않을 것이다. 왜냐면 유혹자는 잠을 자지 않고, 인간이 보지 못하고 깨닫지 못하고 잠에 취해 사람들이 유혹자에게 대항해 자신을 보호하지 않기 때문에 확실하게 빠지게 될 혼을 그의 그물로 잡기 위해 끊임없이 노력하기 때문이다. 안전한 길이 있다. 그러나 이 길은 좁고 가시가 있고, 위험이 없이 성장하는 일이 보장되는 길이다. 그러나 잠에 취한 사람은 이 길을 찾을 수 없고, 심연을 향해 다가가고, 그가 이전에 깨어나지 않고 안전한 길을 찾지 않으면, 큰 위험에 빠지게 된다.

낮의 시간이 얼마 없고, 밤이 곧 다가온다. 아직 안전한 길을 찾지 못한 사람은 멸망을 받을 것이고, 구원받을 수 없게 심연에 빠질 것이다. 종말의 때까지 시간을 활용하지 않는 사람은 게으르게 잠자는 사람들에게 속한 사람이다. 그들은 그들의 일을 진지하게 여기지 않고, 결국에 가서 목표에 도달할 수 없는 그들은 버림을 받게 된다. 왜냐면 그들이 내가 잘못된 길을 가는 사람들을 인도하도록, 사람들이 절대로 무기력하게 멸망당하지 않고 항상 나에게 향해 자신을 구원할 수 있도록, 모든 사람의 길에 보내는 내 종들의 훈계와 경고를 받아드리지 않기 때문이다.

Wake up, you sleepers....

Wake up, you sleepers, and get to work, for the day is short that is still given to you until the end. Every idle and negligent work will be avenged, and only he who is diligent and carries out his work in all seriousness will receive the blessing that means eternal life, while everything that fails is doomed to death. Wake up, you sleepers, and look around you and you will notice the changes which already indicate the approaching end. You must not regard anything as coincidence but know that nothing comes over you without a reason and that you therefore have to pay attention to it. Don't give yourselves over to idleness because it will only bring you ruin instead of rescue from the adversity which cannot be denied, and only those who are constantly active can control it. But your activity should consist of enriching yourselves with knowledge and then passing it on to your fellow human beings, of presenting yourselves with the questions which only I can answer for you, and of asking Me to instruct you. And then I will mentally give you the right answer and spur you on to carry out what I advise you to do through the voice of the heart.... i.e., everyone of good will will gain knowledge of what he should and should not do in order to secure peace for the soul. He will be awake and stay awake and not fall into the tempter's hands in his sleep, for the tempter does not sleep and constantly sets out to catch souls in his nets, which the human being does not see and recognize, who walks along drowsy and will surely fall because he does not protect himself against it. There is a safe way, indeed narrow and thorny, where an ascent without danger is certain, but the still drowsy man does not find it, he goes towards an abyss and is in greatest danger if he does not first awaken and look around for a safe way. And the day is short, soon night will fall, and whoever has not yet found the safe way will be lost, he will fall into the abyss without salvation. Anyone who does not make use of the time until the end belongs to those sluggish sleepers who do not take their work seriously and will therefore be rejected in the end; who cannot reach the aim because they did not let themselves be admonished and warned by My servants, whom I send into everyone's path so that they will guide those who take the wrong path, so that they are never helplessly abandoned to ruin but can always save themselves to Me....
