세상일을 게을리함. 나태. 게으름.

네가 날마다 규칙적인 활동에서 벗어날수록, 얼마나 내면의 불안에 맞서 점점 더 힘들게 싸워야 하는지 주의하라. 왜냐하면 네가 세상과의 관계에서 지속해서 활동한다면, 그런 활동은 너에게 축복이 되기 때문이다. 사람은 영적인 추구를 더 잘할 수 있게 하는, 혼의 균형을 얻는다. 게다가 이런 일은 이웃 사람들에게 영적인 일 때문에 직업 활동이 해를 입을 필요가 없다는 증거를 줄 수 있다. 그리고 영적 각성이 시작되는 때에 동시에 아주 활발한 신체 활동이 이뤄져야만 하는 일이 가장 크게 중요하다. 왜냐하면 단지 이런 일을 통해 병이 든 상태가 반드시 희귀한 영적인 역사의 원인이 될 필요가 없다는 증거를 제시할 수 있기 때문이다.

그러므로 너에게 모든 열심을 가지고 영적인 일에 전념하고 항상 영적인 일을 우선에 두어야 하고, 그러나 이 가운데 또한 영적인 일과 조화를 이룰 수 있는 한 모든 이 땅의 요구를 충족시키라는 권면을 해준다. 그러면 동시에 내면의 만족이 있고, 이런 만족은 이 땅의 자녀가 모든 사랑과 헌신으로 영적인 일을 하게 하고, 아주 더 많이 영적인 분야에서 역사할 수 있게 한다. 육체의 가장 작은 나태함도 혼에게 방해가 된다. 사람은 모든 일을 하기를 꺼리게 될 것이다. 옛 상태로 돌아가기까지 다시 며칠간 내면의 투쟁이 필요하게 된다. 왜냐하면 모든 종류의 다른 인상들이 아버지와의 연결을 흔들어 놓고, 단지 큰 의지로만 모든 흐름을 극복할 수 있기 때문이다. 이 땅의 자녀가 자신의 아버지한테서 멀어질수록, 이런 계시를 받는 일이 점점 더 어려워지기 때문이다.

인간이 영의 고유 활동으로부터 산만해지게 하는 곳에서 그의 이해할 수 있는 능력도 또한 손상되고, 인간은 종종 설명할 수 없는 질문에 직면하고, 이 질문에 그렇게 쉽게 대답할 수 없게 된다. 왜냐하면 필요한 이해가 부족하기 때문이다. 그러나 이 땅의 자녀가 영적인 일을 소홀히 하고, 이 땅의 사건에 더 많은 관심을 기울일 때 비로소 이해가 부족하게 된다. 왜냐하면 유혹이 매우 강하기 때문이다. 대적자는 그가 할 수 있는 곳에서 배반하게 만들려고 한다. 그러므로 조심하라. 기도하라. 끊임없이 활동하라. 왜냐하면 게으름은 좋은 일을 주는 적이 없기 때문이다. 그러므로 사람은 여전히 이 땅에서 일할 수 있는 한, 사람은 자신을 게으름으로부터 보호해야 한다.

Neglect of earthly work.... sloth.... idleness....

Notice how you have to fight harder and harder against inner restlessness the more you withdraw from the regular activity of the day, for it is a blessing for you if you are constantly active in earthly relationships. The person has a mental balance which also makes him more capable of spiritual striving; moreover, this can only serve as proof to fellow human beings that the profession need not suffer for the sake of spiritual work. And this is of greatest importance - the approaching time of spiritual awakening must at the same time be marked by exceedingly brisk physical activity, for only through such is also the proof supplied that a morbid condition need not necessarily be the occasion for strange spiritual activity, that rather the one can harmonize very well with the other and earthly work need not suffer any loss. And so you only receive the admonition to devote yourself to spiritual work with all eagerness, to always give it first priority, but at the same time to also do justice to all earthly demands as far as it is compatible with the former. At the same time this gives an inner satisfaction which in turn contributes to the earthly child giving itself over to its spiritual work with all love and devotion and is thus much more and better able to work in this field. The slightest sluggishness of the body also has a hindering effect on the soul; the human being becomes reluctant to do any work, and it again requires days of inner struggle before the old relationship is established, because many other impressions have shaken the connection with the father and only with great will can all disturbances be overcome. For it is increasingly difficult to receive these announcements the further away the earth child is from its father. And where the human being allows himself to be distracted from the actual activity of the spirit his comprehension is also impaired, and then the human being is often confronted with questions which are inexplicable to him, the answers to which cannot be received so easily because the necessary understanding for them is lacking, yet this only ever happens when the earthly child neglects the spiritual work and pays more attention to earthly events. For the temptation is very strong.... the adversary seeks to make it apostate wherever he possibly can. So be on your guard, keep in prayer and constant activity, for idleness has never brought about any good, therefore the human being should beware of it as long as he is still able to perform earthly work....
