Development of the soul.... Original spirit....

Spiritual substance matures during every developmental period, and one period can in fact suffice for the spiritual substance to progress through the creations to the point that it is able to embody itself as a human being and successfully pass its last test of will.... But several such periods may be needed for this spiritualization of hardened soul-substances if resistance is so strong that its higher development is too slow and the existence as a human being carries an added risk of the soul descending into the abyss again. For free will, which is tested during the stage as a human being, is decisive.

But prior to this, free will is constrained.... Although the hardened spiritual substance is no longer subject to God's adversary's will due to this process of development through the creations of earth.... the individual substances are nevertheless unable to use free will, instead they are controlled by God's will, that is, their process of development takes place in a state of compulsion, they are subject to God's will, Who assigns a task to all spiritual substances within the works of creation. By accomplishing this task within the law of compulsion they gradually progress, i.e. their resistance lessens; they carry out a helpful function and are able to slowly reach the state when their free will can be returned to them. And this process of development requires constant changes of the external shape.... it is a slow ascent, it is an integration with the laws of nature and therefore a submission to God's will, if only due to a certain amount of coercion which, however, only helps to relieve the being and one day is meant to provide it with the freedom to think, want and act using its own will again.

And this process through the works of creation cannot be avoided if the spiritual being is to return to God again, from Whom it had distanced itself to such an infinite extent as a result of its apostasy that it would never be able to overcome this distance of its own strength, and would never be released by God's adversary to return either if God did not remove the spiritual substance from him for the very purpose of banishing it into matter, into the creations on this earth. God's adversary is entitled to the fallen spirits because they had voluntarily followed him into the abyss.... But God has the same right because the beings emerged from His strength. Hence God is justified in removing them from the adversary's control, but in return the latter was given the right to influence the soul again when it lives on earth in the stage as a human being. And to this end the spiritual substance must have attained a degree of maturity again when it is able to use its will in order to freely decide which lord to choose.

But God cannot place the spiritual substance into this state instantly, it has to cover the process of ascent in the same progressive stages as it had descended, it has to relinquish its resistance slowly, as it cannot forcibly be broken. And this requires innumerable changes of form, through the world of rocks, plants and animals to the human being.... Every change of external shape also lessens its resistance, for the being has been of service in a state of compulsion by which it gains increasingly lighter forms.... But the sin of apostasy from God is so vast that the distance from Him is therefore vast as well, which means that untold changes of shapes are needed to reduce this distance in order to come closer to God again, when only the last free decision of will is required for the last form to fall off.... for the being to return to the Father again from Whom it had originated....

And this whole process of development within the creations of earth is a continuous battle.... The spiritual substance tries to burst the external shape because it experiences it as a constraint, but each time it also experiences the rupture of the form as a relief irrespective of its level of maturity.... And this is why the struggle, which you humans are able to observe in the animal kingdom, only seems cruel in your eyes, whereas time and again every animal experiences the change of its external shape as a relief. For this reason God permits or even wants the weaker to succumb to the stronger, the stronger to terminate the life of the weaker and, in a manner of speaking, is thereby even able to serve the spiritual substance to continue its development. Therefore, as long as the being is subject to the law of compulsion everything is determined by God, its end as well as its new formation.... However, as soon as the being has reached the stage of a human being and has received its free will again, God withdraws His will.... And then the human being is given laws which he has to observe if his earthly life is to be successful.... On the one hand he is tied to the laws of nature, and on the other hand he is informed of God's will, to which he has to submit if his development is to progress and reach a conclusion, for the goal is to become free of every external shape and to enter the kingdom of light as a free spirit.... to return to the Father's house, to God, from whence the being once originated....

În fiecare perioadă de dezvoltare, spiritualul se maturizează, iar o singură perioadă poate fi de asemenea suficientă pentru ca spiritualul să se înalțe atât de mult prin creații încât să se poată întrupa ca ființă umană și să treacă cu succes ultimul test al voinței.... Dar pentru această spiritualizare a substanțelor sufletești împietrite pot fi necesare și mai multe astfel de perioade, dacă rezistența lor este atât de mare, încât dezvoltarea ascensională nu se desfășoară decât lent și chiar existența ca ființă umană reprezintă un pericol ca substanța spirituală să se scufunde din nou în abis. Pentru că liberul arbitru este decisiv, care trebuie testat în etapa de ființă umană. Cu toate acestea, acest liber arbitru este legat în prealabil. Spiritualul împietrit este într-adevăr smuls de Dumnezeu din voia potrivnicului prin acest curs de dezvoltare prin creațiile Pământului.... dar substanțele individuale nu se mai pot mișca acum prin voință liberă, ci sunt controlate de voința lui Dumnezeu, adică își parcurg cursul de dezvoltare într-o stare de constrângere, ele se află sub voința lui Dumnezeu, care le atribuie tuturor ființelor sarcina lor în lucrările de creație. Iar acest curs de dezvoltare necesită o schimbare constantă a formei exterioare.... este o ascensiune lentă, este o asimilare în legile naturii și, prin urmare, o subordonare la voința lui Dumnezeu, deși cu o anumită constrângere care, totuși, nu face decât să ajute ființa să se elibereze și este menită să îi ofere din nou libertatea de a gândi, de a dori și de a acționa din nou după propria voință. Iar această cale prin lucrările creației nu poate fi eliminată pentru ca ființa spirituală să se întoarcă din nou la Dumnezeu, de Care s-a îndepărtat atât de infinit prin apostazia sa față de El, încât nu ar putea niciodată să depășească singură această distanță și nici nu ar fi eliberată de adversarul lui Dumnezeu pentru această întoarcere, dacă Dumnezeu nu i-ar smulge ființa tocmai pentru a o izgoni în materie, în creațiile de pe acest Pământ. Adversarul lui Dumnezeu are un drept asupra substanței spirituale căzute, deoarece aceasta l-a urmat de bună voie în abis.... Dar Dumnezeu are același drept pentru că ființele au apărut din puterea Sa. Din acest motiv, Dumnezeu este îndreptățit să le elibereze de sub controlul adversarului, dar în schimb lui i se dă dreptul de a influența din nou spiritualul atunci când acesta trăiește pe Pământ în stare umană. Iar pentru aceasta, ființa spirituală trebuie să fi ajuns din nou la un grad de maturitate în care să fie capabilă să-și folosească voința pentru a decide liber pentru Domnul său. Dar ființa nu poate fi pusă brusc de Dumnezeu într-o astfel de stare, ea trebuie să parcurgă cursul ascendent la fel de treptat cum a făcut-o în adâncuri, trebuie să renunțe încet la rezistență și nu poate fi frântă violent. Iar acest lucru necesită nenumărate modificări de formă, prin lumea de piatră, prin lumea vegetală și animală până la cea umană.... Cu fiecare schimbare a formei exterioare scade și rezistența, pentru că ființa a făcut un serviciu în starea constrânsă, ceea ce îi aduce o modificare de formă tot mai ușoară. Dar păcatul apostaziei față de Dumnezeu este atât de incomensurabil de mare, încât distanța față de El este, prin urmare, și ea incomensurabil de mare, ceea ce înseamnă că sunt necesare nenumărate modificări de formă pentru a reduce această distanță, pentru a se apropia din nou de Dumnezeu, unde acum ca și ultima modificare de formă este necesară doar ultima decizie liberă a voinței să se desprindă din ființa spirituală.... ca ființa să se întoarcă din nou la Tatăl, de la Care a provenit. Și tot acest curs de dezvoltare a creațiilor Pământului este o luptă neîntreruptă.... Ființa caută să frângă forma exterioară pentru că o simte ca pe o piedică, dar simte de asemenea frângerea formei ca pe o binecuvântare de fiecare dată, indiferent de nivelul de maturitate la care a ajuns.... Și de aceea, lupta pe care voi, oamenii, o puteți observa în regnul animal, pare crudă doar pentru ochii voștri, în timp ce fiecare animal simte schimbarea formei sale exterioare ca pe o ușurare. Prin urmare, Dumnezeu permite sau intenționează ca cel slab să cedeze în fața celui puternic, ca cel puternic să pună capăt vieții celui slab și astfel, ca să spunem așa, să servească creaturii pentru a se dezvolta în continuare. Atâta timp cât creatura se află sub legea constrângerii, totul este determinat de voința lui Dumnezeu, inclusiv sfârșitul și noua ei modificare de formă. Dar de îndată ce creatura a ajuns la stadiul de ființă umană și și-a recăpătat liberul arbitru, voința lui Dumnezeu se retrage.... Și apoi, ființei umane i se dau legi pe care trebuie să le respecte pentru ca viața sa pământeană să aibă succes.... Pe de o parte, el este legat de legile naturii, iar pe de altă parte, i se prezintă voința lui Dumnezeu, căreia trebuie să i se supună pentru ca dezvoltarea sa să progreseze și să fie dusă la bun sfârșit, deoarece scopul este de a se elibera de orice formă exterioară și de a intra în împărăția luminii ca un spirit liber.... să se întoarcă la casa Tatălui, la Dumnezeu, de la care ființa a provenit odată....
