Knowledge through study or through the spirit....

You humans often believe yourselves to be very knowledgeable and yet, you are spiritually blind. For all spiritual knowledge only comes alive when your spirit has awakened.... Prior to this it remains lifeless knowledge, acquired mental concepts which are neither better nor more valuable than earthly knowledge. And even if you try to gain by philosophical means what you cannot fathom by virtue of your intellect alone it can never be called spiritual knowledge, for it first requires the awakening of the spirit to also understand and adopt this knowledge. It is not merely a matter that the contents of the mental concept can be considered spiritual knowledge.... it is entirely a matter as to whether the person thinks this knowledge through with an 'awakened' spirit and makes it his own thoughts, only then will he be able to speak of 'spiritual knowledge' which satisfies him, only then will he also understand what previously was not completely plausible to him despite extensive mental activity. And thus two people cannot take the same paths but nevertheless have the same knowledge, but to one of them it can be fully comprehensible whereas the other only grasps the meaning of the letter and draws no spiritual benefit from his knowledge. For the value of the knowledge depends on the very path he has taken to attain this knowledge.... One person accepts it from external sources through study and diligent intellectual activity, the other receives it from the spirit which dwells in every person's soul. And this spirit is a living part of God, consequently, whatever he gives must also be alive....

The human being must be guided into knowledge which shines brightly and signifies a true light for someone who previously walked in darkness. This knowledge is not at the disposal of the former for he only grasped the meaning of the letter, he has only deliberated the meaning of the letter without becoming enlightened, since true light can only ever be imparted by the spirit, which need merely be awakened in order to express itself through the inner voice.... And an awakened spirit can subsequently also enlighten a fellow human being, which is impossible for someone who is still unenlightened, for he will only pass on the empty meaning of the letter which he has accepted. The human being ought to awaken the spirit within to life, only then will he be able to speak of correct knowledge, of truth and of light. And the spirit can only come alive through love, the human being has to live a life of love according to the divine commandments, then his spirit will irrevocably come alive and instruct him from within. However, as long as the process of awakening the spirit has not occurred people will agonise over questions if they are serious about the truth; or they have a measure of mental knowledge at their disposal which they keenly endorse as truth yet inwardly they cannot find the conviction to advocate the pure truth, because this inner conviction is also imparted to them by the spirit, and as long as this cannot take place a person will always be troubled by slight doubts, even if he outwardly defends his mental knowledge as truth. But once the spirit is awakened, the person will know that it is the truth, and this inner conviction will make him a diligent labourer in the vineyard of the Lord. And these alone are true servants whom the caretaker can use in His vineyard.... these are the disciples to whom He said 'Go ye therefore, and teach all nations....' For only these will proclaim the Gospel of love according to God's will, and these will be listened to by all those of good will....

Conhecimento através do estudo ou através da mente....

Muitas vezes vocês, humanos, acreditam que sabem muito e ainda assim são espiritualmente cegos. Pois todo o conhecimento espiritual só está vivo quando o seu espírito é despertado.... Mas antes disso permanece um conhecimento morto, um corpo de pensamento erudito que não é melhor nem mais valioso do que o conhecimento terreno. E não importa quão profundamente tentes cavar, aquilo que te esforças por alcançar em virtude apenas do teu intelecto nunca poderá ser chamado de conhecimento espiritual, pois o despertar do espírito é necessário para compreender esse conhecimento e torná-lo teu. Não se trata apenas do conteúdo do pensamento material para que ele possa ser contado como conhecimento espiritual.... Trata-se apenas de saber se o ser humano, "desperto" no espírito, pensa através desse conhecimento e o torna seu, pois só então poderá falar de "conhecimento espiritual" que o preenche, só então também compreenderá aquilo que antes não lhe era completamente compreensível, apesar da maior atividade intelectual. E assim, duas pessoas não podem percorrer o mesmo caminho, mas ainda têm o mesmo conhecimento espiritual, só que ele pode ser totalmente compreensível para uma, enquanto a outra apenas capta o sentido literal e não tira nenhum benefício espiritual do seu conhecimento. Pois o próprio caminho é decisivo para o valor do conhecimento pelo qual ele chegou a ele..... Um recebe-o do exterior através do estudo e diligente atividade intelectual, o outro o recebe através do espírito que habita em cada alma humana. E este espírito é uma parte viva de Deus, portanto o que ele dá também deve estar vivo..... O ser humano deve ser introduzido ao conhecimento que brilha e significa luz verdadeira para aquele que antes andava na escuridão. E o primeiro não pode ter esse conhecimento à sua disposição, pois ele só capturou o sentido das letras, ele lidou com o sentido das letras sem que elas se tornassem luz dentro dele, pois a verdadeira luz só pode ser-lhe transmitida pelo espírito que só precisa ser despertado para se expressar também através da voz interior.... E um espírito desperto pode agora também iluminar o seu semelhante, o que não é possível para o ainda não desperto, pois ele só transmite o sentido literal vazio que ele próprio recebeu. O homem deve despertar o espírito em si mesmo para a vida, só então poderá falar do conhecimento correto, da verdade e da luz. E o espírito só pode ganhar vida através do amor, o ser humano deve viver uma vida de amor fiel aos mandamentos divinos e, com isso, o seu espírito virá irrevogavelmente à vida e o instruirá a partir de dentro. Mas, até que esse processo de despertar do espírito tenha ocorrido, as pessoas se atormentarão com perguntas, se forem sérias a respeito da verdade; ou então terão uma medida do pensamento material que avidamente defendem como verdade, mas interiormente não podem reunir a convicção de lutar pela verdade pura, porque essa convicção interior também lhes é transmitida primeiro pelo espírito, e enquanto isso não puder acontecer, as dúvidas silenciosas sempre preocuparão o ser humano, mesmo que ele defenda exteriormente seu pensamento material como verdade pura. Mas quando o espírito é despertado, o ser humano também sabe que está na verdade, e essa convicção interior faz dele um ávido trabalhador na vinha do Senhor. E só estes são verdadeiros servos que o Pai da casa pode usar na Sua vinha.... eles são os discípulos a quem Ele disse: "Ide pelo mundo e ensinai a todas as nações....". Pois só estes proclamarão o evangelho do amor em Sua vontade, e estes serão ouvidos por todos os que são de boa vontade...._>Amém
