Purification of the soul through love....
It contributes a lot to your purification if you only keep reminding yourselves of the commandments of love for God and your neighbour and ask yourselves how far you comply with these commandments. For if you are honest with yourselves you will never be satisfied with yourselves and your way of life, because you could always be more eager in your activity of love and often miss an opportunity. But already the will to act right and already the fact to carry out this self-examination is an advantage for your soul, for every good will has a beneficial effect. And during such a serious examination you will also become aware of your weaknesses, which every person still has, even if his will is good, until he is so eagerly active in love that he is now filled by the strength of love which also gives the will the right strengthening. Just never believe that you no longer need to purify your soul; never believe that you have already reached the degree which secures your entry into the kingdom of light. You must strive and work on yourselves as long as you live on earth, and you will only do well if you often devote yourselves to such inner reflections and try to fathom your faults and weaknesses. And your will will also be strengthened to constantly carry out the work on your soul, because such introspections already testify to your serious will to become perfect. Every omission of a good deed will come to your mind during self-examination, every failure or disregard of the divine commandments of love will come to your mind, and then you should only ever firmly resolve to improve yourselves and use every opportunity to make up for what you have neglected, and it will only result in a blessing for you that you will always fulfil the commandments of love for God and your neighbour more easily, because you will receive strength if your will is serious. The human being should once consider his duties towards his neighbour if he wants to fulfil this very commandment.... He should always remind himself that he should help his neighbour in every adversity and distress, be it of an earthly or spiritual nature.... And therefore he should not close his eyes to his neighbour's adversity, he should always remember how helpful help would be to him in the same adversity and how gratefully he would accept it. And he should always consider what his fellow human being is in need of, be it spiritually or physically.... For he should also try to remedy spiritual hardship where possible, because this is a work of love with a special effect on his fellow human being's soul. For this reason the human being cannot go into himself often enough and think about everything God requires of him through His commandments of love, for these are always the guideline for a correctly lived earthly change, he can always keep to these commandments if he wants to live his earthly life correctly and according to God's will, always as a blessing for himself and his fellow human beings.... For God requires nothing else of the human being than that he change into love, He only requires that he fulfils His commandments in order to grant him a blissful life in light and strength and freedom, which, however, is inconceivable without love.... And all perfection of the soul solely depends on the transformation (of selfish love) into unselfish love, which then also guarantees love for God and establishes the union with Him, on which all beatitude in the spiritual kingdom depends....

Läuterung der Seele durch die Liebe....
Es trägt viel zu eurer Läuterung bei, wenn ihr euch nur immer wieder die Gebote der Gottes- und der Nächstenliebe vorhaltet und euch fragt, wieweit ihr diesen Geboten nachkommet. Denn so ihr ehrlich seid gegen euch selbst, werdet ihr niemals mit euch selbst und eurem Lebenswandel zufrieden sein, weil ihr stets eifriger sein könntet in eurem Liebewirken und oft eine Gelegenheit versäumt. Aber schon der Wille, recht zu handeln, und schon die Tatsache, jene Selbstbetrachtung vorzunehmen, ist für eure Seele ein Vorteil, denn jeder gute Wille wirkt sich segensreich aus. Und ihr werdet bei einer solchen ernsten Prüfung euch auch eurer Schwächen bewußt, die jeder Mensch noch hat, selbst wenn sein Wille gut ist, bis er so eifrig ist im Wirken in Liebe, daß ihn nun die Liebekraft erfüllt, die auch dem Willen eine rechte Stärkung gibt. Glaubet nur niemals, keine Läuterung eurer Seele mehr nötig zu haben; glaubet niemals, daß ihr schon jenen Grad erreicht habt, der euch das Eingehen in das Lichtreich sichert.... ihr müsset streben und arbeiten an euch selbst, solange ihr auf Erden lebt, und ihr werdet nur gut tun daran, wenn ihr des öfteren euch solchen inneren Betrachtungen hingebt und eure Fehler und Schwächen zu ergründen suchet. Und es wird auch euer Wille gekräftigt werden, die Arbeit an der Seele unentwegt auszuführen, weil solche Selbstbetrachtungen schon euren ernsten Willen bezeugen, vollkommen zu werden. Jede Unterlassung einer guten Tat wird euch bei einer Selbstbetrachtung in den Sinn kommen, jedes Versagen oder Mißachten der göttlichen Liebegebote wird euch in Erinnerung kommen, und dann sollt ihr nur immer den festen Vorsatz fassen, euch zu bessern und jede Gelegenheit zu nützen, das Versäumte nachzuholen, und es wird sich nur für euch ein Segen ergeben, daß ihr stets leichter die Gebote der Gottes- und Nächstenliebe erfüllen werdet, weil ihr Kraft empfanget, so euer Wille ernst ist. Es soll sich der Mensch einmal auseinandersetzen mit seinen Pflichten dem Nächsten gegenüber, wenn er ebenjenes Gebot erfüllen will.... Er soll sich immer vorhalten, daß er dem Nächsten helfen soll in jeder Not und Bedrängnis, sei sie irdischer oder geistiger Art.... Und er soll darum nicht die Augen geschlossen halten vor dessen Not, er soll immer daran denken, wie ihm in gleicher Not eine Hilfe gelegen käme und wie dankbar er sie annehmen würde. Und er soll immer bedenken, wessen der Mitmensch bedarf, sei es geistig oder leiblich.... Denn auch geistige Not soll er zu beheben suchen, wo dies möglich ist, weil dies ein Liebewerk von besonderer Wirkung ist für die Seele des Mitmenschen. Darum kann der Mensch nicht oft genug in sich gehen und über alles nachdenken, was Gott durch Seine Liebegebote von ihm verlangt, denn immer sind diese die Richtschnur für einen recht gelebten Erdenwandel, immer kann er sich an diese Gebote halten, will er recht und nach dem Willen Gottes sein Erdenleben zurücklegen, immer sich selbst und seinen Mitmenschen zum Segen.... Denn Gott verlangt nichts anderes von dem Menschen, als daß dieser sich wandle zur Liebe, Er verlangt nur, daß er Seine Gebote erfüllt, um ihm ein seliges Leben in Licht und Kraft und Freiheit zu schenken, das aber ohne Liebe nicht denkbar ist.... Und jegliche Vollendung der Seele hängt nur allein von der Umwandlung (der Ichliebe) zur uneigennützigen Liebe ab, die dann auch die Liebe zu Gott garantiert und die Vereinigung mit Ihm herstellt, von der alle Seligkeit im geistigen Reich abhängig ist....
