Everlasting battle against the world....

And if you crave for the pleasures of this world only remember that you will forfeit spiritual pleasures because you cannot possess both at the same time, the spiritual and the earthly kingdom, for My kingdom is not of this world. The pleasures offered to you by the earthly world will only ever satisfy the body but not the soul, which needs something different in order to attain beatitude, which cannot be fobbed off with earthly enjoyments but needs spiritual nourishment in order to become happy. And therefore always take care that your desire will not get out of hand and stifle the soul's desire; always take care that earthly pleasures will not stop you from spiritual striving, that they are, as it were, contrary to them.... that the person's spiritual striving diminishes to the same extent as he tries to provide for himself, that is, his body, physical pleasures. And always remember that 'My kingdom is not of this world....' Consequently, whatever you enjoy or deem desirable and which still belongs to this world will always signify a small obstacle on the path of ascent, into the spiritual kingdom. Not everything is denied to you by Me, it just should not include the danger of straying from the path to Me.... As long as this risk does not exist, you may also give to your body what it requires.... And it is up to you to establish whether and to what extent you will be prevented from your contact with Me, from your earnest striving for My kingdom and its righteousness. And if you then let an opportunity pass you by which might have been able to provide your soul with spiritual saturation merely in order to gratify your body then it will be an injustice to your soul, which is equally famished and in need of strengthening.

The spiritual aspirant will never shelve the spiritual kingdom or his soul, he will always place it in the forefront, he can't help but consider his soul first and will not pay too much attention to his body until he first has taken care of his soul. And whatever he then will give to the body is right before My eyes, for he first considered My kingdom and My will before he considered his earthly existence, and this is right and also in accordance with My will. For I placed you into this world because you can fully mature in it, and your soul will indeed mature fully if you always bear My will in mind and live on earth accordingly. And it will always be My will that you should lift your eyes up to Me, that you strive towards Me, that you look for the connection with Me, that you are therefore held captive by the spiritual realm and don't bury yourselves again into matter for the sake of the earthly world, which is your demise. And if you are attracted by great earthly temptations then be always careful that you do not forfeit the treasures of your soul.... that you voluntarily relinquish that which your soul had already taken possession of.... that you disregard its desire and leave it to suffer hardship for the sake of earthly possessions or earthly pleasures. The world is your enemy, try to become its master, you can certainly make it compliant but don't allow it to become your master to whom you subjugate yourselves and thereby suffer defeat instead of gaining victory. Remain constantly in contact with the kingdom which is not of this world and you will truly be victorious over the earthly world; it will serve you to reach perfection, because this is your only goal....

Onafgebroken strijd tegen de wereld

En wanneer u de vreugden van deze wereld begeert, denk er dan aan dat er geestelijke vreugden voor u verloren gaan, omdat u beide tezamen niet kunt bezitten - het geestelijke en het aardse rijk - want: "mijn rijk is niet van deze wereld". De vreugden die de aardse wereld u biedt zullen steeds alleen het lichaam bevredigen, maar niet de ziel die wat anders nodig heeft om gelukzalig te worden. Die niet met aardse genoegens afgescheept kan worden, maar geestelijk voedsel nodig heeft om zalig te worden. Let daarom steeds op uw begeren, dat het niet de overhand krijgt en het verlangen van uw ziel doodt. Let er steeds op dat aardse vreugden u niet afhouden van het geestelijk streven, dat ze er als het ware tegengesteld aan zijn, dat in dezelfde mate het geestelijk streven van de mens afneemt, wanneer hij tracht zichzelf - dat wil zeggen: zijn lichaam - lichamelijke genoegens te verschaffen. Denk er daarom altijd aan dat "mijn rijk niet van deze wereld is".

Wat u dus vreugde geeft of begerenswaardig voorkomt en nog tot deze wereld behoort, zal voor u nog een kleine hindernis betekenen op de weg naar boven, naar het geestelijke rijk. Van Mij uit is u niet alles verboden, alleen mag het gevaar niet aanwezig zijn van de weg naar Mij af te raken. Zolang dit gevaar niet bestaat, kunt u ook uw lichaam geven wat dit verlangt. En dat moet u zelf vaststellen of en in welke mate u gehinderd wordt in de omgang met Mij, in het ijverig streven naar mijn rijk en zijn gerechtigheid. En als u zich nu een gelegenheid laat ontgaan die uw ziel een geestelijke verzadiging zou hebben kunnen bezorgen, alleen maar om uw lichaam een weldaad te bezorgen, dan is dit een onrecht tegenover uw ziel die eveneens gebrek lijdt en een versterking nodig heeft.

Wie naar het geestelijke streeft, zal nooit het geestelijke rijk of het welzijn van zijn ziel terzijde schuiven. Hij zal beide steeds op de eerste plaats stellen, hij zal niet anders kunnen dan eerst aan zijn ziel te denken en hij zal aan het lichaam niet veel aandacht schenken voordat hij zijn ziel heeft verzorgd. En wat hij dan voor zijn lichaam doet is juist, ook voor mijn ogen, want hij dacht eerst aan mijn rijk en mijn wil, voordat hij aandacht had voor zijn aardse bestaan en dat is juist en ook in overeenstemming met mijn wil. Want Ik heb u in deze wereld geplaatst, omdat u daarin moet rijpen. En uw ziel zal daar ook rijp in worden wanneer u steeds mijn wil voor ogen houdt en op aarde hiernaar leeft. En mijn wil zal steeds zijn dat u uw ogen naar Mij opheft, dat u er naar streeft om bij Mij te zijn, dat u verbinding zoekt met Mij, dat het geestelijke rijk u dus in de ban houdt en u zich niet ter wille van de aardse wereld weer begraaft in de materie die uw dood is.

En wanneer grote aardse verleidingen u prikkelen, wees dan steeds waakzaam dat u geen schatten van uw ziel verliest, dat u vrijwillig opgeeft wat uw ziel al in bezit had genomen, dat u geen acht slaat op haar verlangens en haar nood laat lijden ter wille van aards bezit of aards genot. De wereld is uw vijand. Probeer haar de baas te worden en maak haar dienstbaar aan uzelf, maar laat haar niet de baas worden over u, aan wie u zich onderwerpt en daardoor verliest i.p.v. te winnen. Blijf in voortdurende verbinding met het rijk dat niet van deze wereld is en u zult waarlijk overwinnaar zijn over de aardse wereld. Ze zal u dienen om u te voltooien, omdat dit alleen uw doel is.
