What is truth?....

You will not be led astray if you approach the eternal truth Itself for 'truth'. What kind of God of love would He be if He did not offer a good gift to His children who trustingly come to Him in order to allow themselves to be bestowed by Him....? And where would God's wisdom be found if He Himself wanted to convey spiritual knowledge to people which does not correspond to the truth....? You have to imagine God in His essence, which is supremely perfect and therefore nothing imperfect can be offered by Himself. But since people's great spiritual hardship consists precisely of the fact that they live in error, that they are far removed from the truth and therefore cannot find the path of return to God either.... since, again, for the sake of the final return to God the human being only has to live through earthly existence at all, it is God's everlasting endeavour to convey the pure truth to people, and He will also do so wherever the opportunity presents itself, that is, wherever the conditions are fulfilled under which such conveyance of truth is possible. But no-one will request truth from God who does not believe in God himself.... Nor will anyone request truth who does not also request it from God, even if he is not aware of it.... And thus the desire also signifies a certain love for it and thus also love for God, Who Himself is truth from eternity.... And if the human being therefore turns to God Himself in thought or even just with the innermost stirring of the heart, which resists everything untrue, God will also in a way convey the requested truth to the human being.... If the human being is already capable of a certain realization through a life of love, if his thinking is already enlightened through unselfish activity of love, then the human being will also feel that an answer to his questions can be given to him directly from God, and he will listen to this answer within himself, he will pay attention to his thoughts, he will have the firm certainty that God reveals Himself to him.... But then he will also know that he will only receive pure truth, that he need not fear error, because only truth can reach him on God's part and because God also protects a truth-seeking child from erroneous influence, precisely for the sake of truth.... What is truth?.... This question is so often asked by people who think they are clever but who also feel that they very often fall prey to error and therefore become uncertain about the truth of what is generally held.... All of them would have their question answered if they had those prerequisites, such as: faith in God.... unselfish activity of love and desire for truth.... And then they would no longer doubt or ask, because the answer would be clear and light in themselves.... But until they can demonstrate those prerequisites, even these words are quite incomprehensible and unbelievable to them, they seem incompatible with their sober intellectual thinking.... And so long they will also live without knowledge, even though they are rich in earthly knowledge or have acquired spiritual knowledge in a scholastic way.... They have no inner guarantee for the truth of it and will never be able to obtain it in any other way than through the 'revelation of God', which can take place in many different ways but is completely certain to the sincere striving for truth. This is why one person can stand up for the truth with full conviction, whereas another person can certainly accept but will never be able to represent with inner certainty that which he has acquired intellectually without having been instructed by his spirit within himself.... for pure truth only emanates from God and only God Himself conveys it to the person who sincerely appeals to Him for it.....

Was ist Wahrheit?....

Ihr werdet nicht in Irrtum geführt, wenn ihr die Ewige Wahrheit Selbst um "Wahrheit" angeht. Was wäre das für ein Gott der Liebe, Der Seinen Kindern keine gute Gabe anbieten würde, die vertrauensvoll zu Ihm kommen, um sich von Ihm beschenken zu lassen.... und wo ließe sich Gottes Weisheit finden, wenn Er Selbst den Menschen ein Geistesgut zuleiten möchte, das nicht der Wahrheit entspricht.... Ihr müsset euch Gott in Seiner Wesenheit vorstellen, die höchst vollkommen ist und darum auch von Ihm Selbst nichts Unvollkommenes geboten werden kann. Da aber gerade darin die große geistige Not der Menschen besteht, daß sie im Irrtum dahingehen, daß sie fernab der Wahrheit stehen und darum auch den Weg der Rückkehr zu Gott nicht finden können.... da wiederum um der endgültigen Rückkehr zu Gott willen der Mensch überhaupt nur das Erdendasein durchleben muß, ist es Gottes immerwährendes Bemühen, den Menschen die reine Wahrheit zuzuleiten, und Er wird es auch tun, wo sich nur dafür die Gelegenheit bietet, d.h., wo die Bedingungen erfüllt werden, unter denen ein solches Zuleiten der Wahrheit möglich ist. Es wird aber niemand von Gott sich Wahrheit erbitten, der selbst nicht an Gott glaubt.... Es wird auch niemand Wahrheit verlangen, der nicht auch zu Gott verlangt, selbst wenn er sich nicht dessen bewußt ist.... Und so bedeutet auch das Verlangen eine gewisse Liebe zu ihr und somit auch Liebe zu Gott, Der Selbst die Wahrheit ist von Ewigkeit.... Und wendet sich der Mensch also an Gott Selbst in Gedanken oder auch nur mit der innersten Herzensregung, die sich gegen alles Unwahre wehrt, so wird Gott auch dem Menschen in einer Weise die erbetene Wahrheit zuleiten.... Ist durch ein Leben in Liebe der Mensch schon einer gewissen Erkenntnis fähig, ist sein Denken schon erleuchtet durch uneigennütziges Liebewirken, dann wird es der Mensch auch fühlen, daß ihm unmittelbar von Gott aus Antwort gegeben werden kann auf seine Fragen, und er wird auf diese Antwort lauschen in sich, er wird seiner Gedanken achten, er wird die feste Gewißheit haben, daß Gott Selbst Sich ihm offenbart.... Aber er wird dann auch wissen, daß er nur reine Wahrheit empfängt, daß er keinen Irrtum zu fürchten brauchet, weil von seiten Gottes nur Wahrheit zu ihm gelangen kann und weil Gott auch ein wahrheitsverlangendes Kind schützet vor irrigem Einfluß, eben um der Wahrheit willen.... Was ist Wahrheit?.... Diese Frage wird so oft gestellt von Menschen, die sich klug dünken, die es aber auch fühlen, daß sie sehr oft dem Irrtum verfallen und darum unsicher werden ob der Wahrheit dessen, was allgemein vertreten wird.... Sie alle würden ihre Frage beantwortet bekommen, wären jene Voraussetzungen bei ihnen anzutreffen, wie: Glaube an Gott.... uneigennütziges Liebewirken und Wahrheitsverlangen.... Und sie würden dann auch nicht mehr zweifeln oder fragen, weil die Antwort klar und licht in ihnen selbst wäre.... Aber bevor sie nicht jene Voraussetzungen aufweisen können, sind ihnen auch diese Worte ganz unverständlich und unglaubwürdig, sie erscheinen ihnen nicht vereinbar mit ihrem nüchternen Verstandesdenken.... Und so lange werden sie auch ohne Erkenntnis dahinleben, wenngleich sie reich sind an irdischem Wissen oder sich geistiges Wissen schulmäßig erworben haben.... Sie haben keine innerliche Garantie für die Wahrheit dessen und werden sie auf anderem Wege auch niemals bekommen können als auf dem Wege der "Offenbarung Gottes", die in vielerlei Weise vor sich gehen kann, aber ganz gewiß ist dem ernstlich-nach-Wahrheit-strebenden Menschen. Darum kann auch der eine Mensch voll überzeugt eintreten für die Wahrheit, während der andere wohl annehmen, niemals aber mit innerer Gewißheit das als unanfechtbar wird vertreten können, was er sich verstandesmäßig erworben hat, ohne von seinem Geist in sich belehrt worden zu sein.... denn nur von Gott geht die reine Wahrheit aus, und nur Gott Selbst leitet sie dem Menschen zu, der Ihn innig darum angeht....
