Preaching love for its own sake....

It is not in accordance with God's will if His word is used as a means to achieve earthly aims.... if it is used to induce the fellow human being into loving activity in order to derive his own benefit from it. This is a misuse of the divine word and an injustice against the neighbour, for he is, so to speak, urged to be lovingly active, yet always under pressure which does not allow his love to develop. The obvious purpose deprives him of the joy of loving activity, and spiritual progress is rarely achieved. The divine word certainly teaches love, yet it is not the deed itself which is valued but the degree of love in which the deed is carried out. If an earthly aim is the reason for loving activity, the deed itself can certainly be carried out but the feeling of love can be completely lacking, and then it is a dead work which is accomplished.... but the human being believes to have fulfilled the divine commandment of neighbourly love. But the person who influences his fellow human being to carry out a deed for the sake of an earthly advantage by reproaching him for the divine commandment of love is worthy of condemnation.... The latter can listen to the reproaches, he can do what is demanded of him and yet inner love can be completely absent. But the human being does not give an account of his inner feelings but is satisfied with having accomplished an act which apparently corresponds to the divine commandment of love. But the human being who strives for his own advantage and tries to induce his fellow human being does not observe the commandment of unselfish neighbourly love himself but tries to harm his fellow human being. Consequently, he is not justified in invoking the divine commandment of love; he thereby makes himself sinful, for this is no teaching and no educating to love, but the deed itself is given more priority. Love alone, however, is decisive for the soul's progress.... And this way of preaching love can often be found where earthly aims are pursued which require people's cooperation.... aims which mean an increase in power and which cannot be reconciled with true neighbourly love. And then the divine commandments come into a false light with those who seriously strive and now become suspicious because the representatives of this doctrine of love obey it the least and do not give true, unselfish love to their neighbour. The divine word is misused but people seek cover behind this word by citing it, yet it is not followed by the representatives of the divine teaching who strive for earthly aims.... power and wealth. And these inflict damage on humanity which, however, is rarely recognized, because a person who believes himself to be lovingly active does not practice love.... but the love of the heart must inevitably impel him into action.... for only this love is redeeming, and only this love connects the human being with God....

Predicare l’amore per via del proprio vantaggio

Non corrisponde alla Volontà di Dio, quando la Sua Parola viene utilizzata come mezzo per il raggiungimento di mete terrene, quando viene impiegata per muovere il prossimo all’attività d’amore per ottenere da ciò un proprio vantaggio. Questo è un abuso della Parola divina ed un’ingiustizia verso il prossimo, perché viene in certo qual modo indotto all’agire nell’amore, ma sarà sempre sotto pressione, quindi non fa giungere allo sviluppo il suo amore. L’evidente scopo gli toglie la gioia dell’attività d’amore e raramente viene raggiunto un progresso spirituale. La Parola divina insegna bensì l’amore, però l’azione stessa non viene valutata, ma solo il grado d’amore nel quale l’azione viene eseguita. Se ora una meta terrena è il motivo dell’attività nell’amore, allora l’azione in sé può bensì giungere all’esecuzione, ma il sentimento dell’amore può mancare totalmente, allora viene compiuta un’opera morta, ma l’uomo crede di aver adempiuto il divino Comandamento dell’amore per il prossimo. Ma è condannabile l’uomo che agisce sul prossimo per via di un vantaggio terreno ad eseguire un’azione, mentre gli tiene davanti il divino Comandamento dell’amore. Ora l’uomo può dare ascolto a ciò che gli viene tenuto davanti, può fare ciò che viene preteso da lui, ma ciononostante può mancare totalmente l’amore interiore. Ma l’uomo non si dà nessuna giustificazione sui suoi sentimenti interiori e s’accontenta di aver compiuto un’azione che corrisponde apparentemente al Comandamento divino dell’amore. Ma l’uomo che tende al proprio vantaggio e cerca di indurre il prossimo, non osserva lui stesso il Comandamento dell’amore disinteressato per il prossimo, ma cerca di danneggiarlo. Di conseguenza non ha l’autorizzazione di presentare il divino Comandamento dell’amore; con ciò pecca, perché questo non è nessuna istruzione e nessuna educazione all’amore, ma l’atto in sé non viene messo più in prima fila. Quindi, l’amore soltanto è determinante per il progresso dell’anima. E questo modo di predicare l’amore può essere constatato il più delle volte là, dove s’inseguono delle mete terrene che richiedono una collaborazione degli uomini. Sono delle mete che significano il rafforzamento del potere e che non possono essere messe in accordo con il vero amore per il prossimo. Allora i divini Comandamenti dell’amore assumono una luce falsa presso coloro che tendono seriamente ed ora si stupiscono, perché i rappresentanti di questa Dottrina dell’amore l’adempiono di meno e non fanno arrivare al prossimo nessun vero amore disinteressato. Allora si abusa della Parola divina, ma mentre è menzionata, dietro a questa Parola si cerca una copertura, ma non viene eseguita da rappresentanti della Dottrina divina che tendono a delle mete terrene, potere e ricchezza. Sono costoro che causano un danno all’umanità, ma che solo raramente viene riconosciuto, perché un uomo che crede d’essere attivo nell’amore, non si esercita nell’amore, l’amore del cuore lo deve però sospingere invariabilmente all’azione, perché soltanto questo amore è salvifico e soltanto questo unisce l’uomo con Dio.
