Spiritual decline also has an earthly detrimental effect....

People's spiritual flattening will always have a detrimental effect on earth, for even if people only strive for earthly goods and material successes and thus try to improve their earthly well-being, God nevertheless sets a limit for them by causing them to lose earthly goods through strokes of fate just as much as they strive for them. For God seeks to seize them where they are most sensitive in order to raise the spiritual low again; the spiritual decline is by no means easy to accept, after all, it hastens the end of creation, and therefore God still seeks to stop this decline, He seeks to persuade people to return, He seeks to induce them to strive spiritually, and the means He uses are earthly hardship and suffering of all kinds. Thus God allows people's possessions to be destroyed, although He never gave the order for such action. Consequently, earthly living conditions will be correspondingly more difficult and ultimately end in chaos, and people themselves are the cause of this, even if they do not want to and cannot understand it earthly. But on serious reflection they have to admit the correctness of these words, they have to consider that they have no connection with God and therefore cannot hope for salvation either, because they live entirely without love and close themselves off to all spiritual instruction. And they must admit that this is a spiritual step backwards. But then they will also make an effort to change their present state, and with this will the earthly adversity will also decrease, for God requires nothing more of people than that they love each other and refrain from everything which causes harm to their fellow human being, they must change from the state of indifference into the state of serious striving. Then the earthly adversity, which only has the purpose of changing people's attitude, will subside, otherwise total destruction will forcibly point people to divine will, which people ignore so that they will have to suffer because of it....

Geistiger Rückgang wirkt sich auch irdisch nachteilig aus....

Eine geistige Verflachung der Menschen wird sich immer diesirdisch nachteilig auswirken, denn ob auch die Menschen nur irdische Güter und materielle Erfolge anstreben und also ihr irdisches Wohlleben zu verbessern suchen, ist ihnen doch von Gott aus eine Schranke gesetzt, indem sie durch Schicksalsschläge ebenso irdische Güter verlieren, wie sie diese anstreben. Denn Gott suchet sie dort zu fassen, wo sie am empfindlichsten sind, um den geistigen Tiefstand wieder zu heben; der geistige Rückgang ist keineswegs leichtzunehmen, beschleunigt er doch das Ende der Schöpfung, und daher sucht Gott, diesen Rückgang noch immer aufzuhalten, Er sucht die Menschen zur Rückkehr zu bewegen, Er sucht sie zu geistigem Streben zu veranlassen, und die Mittel, die Er anwendet, sind irdische Nöte und Leiden aller Art. Es läßt Gott also zu, daß den Menschen Hab und Gut zerstört wird, wenngleich Er niemals den Auftrag zu solchem Handeln gegeben hat. Folglich werden die irdischen Lebensverhältnisse entsprechend schwerer sein und zuletzt in einem Chaos enden, und die Menschen selbst sind die Veranlassung dazu, wenn sie auch irdisch das nicht begreifen wollen und können. Doch bei ernstem Nachdenken müssen sie die Richtigkeit dieser Worte zugeben, sie müssen bedenken, daß sie keinerlei Verbindung haben mit Gott und daher auch keine Errettung zu erhoffen haben, weil sie völlig ohne Liebe daherleben und sich jeder geistigen Belehrung verschließen. Und sie müssen es zugeben, daß dies ein geistiger Rückschritt ist. Dann aber werden sie sich auch bemühen, den derzeitigen Zustand zu wandeln, und mit diesem Willen wird sich auch die irdische Not verringern, denn Gott verlangt nichts weiter von den Menschen, als daß sie sich lieben untereinander und alles unterlassen, was dem Mitmenschen Schaden bereitet, sie müssen sich wandeln aus dem Zustand der Gleichgültigkeit in den Zustand des ernsten Strebens. Dann wird die irdische Not auch nachlassen, die nur den Zweck hat, die Gesinnung der Menschen zu wandeln, ansonsten eine totale Zerstörung die Menschen gewaltsam hinweiset auf den göttlichen Willen, den die Menschen unbeachtet lassen, so daß sie darum leiden müssen....
