God's help.... grace.... benefits of free will....

The worldly-minded person makes no use of God's grace. It is certainly available to him to the same extent but he does not use it, he has no desire for it and therefore does not ask for it either. To be in the grace of God means to be given all the means for the soul's higher development, i.e. to always and everywhere find help that enables the soul to mature. The worldly-minded person, however, does not strive for the soul's state of maturity, consequently he also takes no notice of the means of help, he does not need them, he ignores God's grace and is too weak to reach his goal on earth without divine help. He will constantly pass by all opportunities which would be beneficial to his soul. For even if the human being makes no use whatsoever of God's grace, God will nevertheless not let him go without, thus He will not completely withdraw from him by leaving him heedless, thus excluding him from the gift of grace, but throughout his whole life He will repeatedly approach the human being, He will repeatedly show him the right path, He will lead His servants to him, He will in a manner of speaking repeatedly offer him grace because He wants to win the human being for Himself. Yet the human being's free will has to become active to accept the grace if he wants to be spiritually successful. He must consciously avail himself of God's help. Mostly, however, worldly-minded people are without all faith, and consequently they do not avail themselves of something which is based on faith alone. They do not ask for help because they do not consider themselves to be in need and because they do not recognize any power which could help them when they need help. They do not feel their spiritual hardship, earthly life is completely sufficient for them and they utilize every vitality to create an earthly life of well-being for themselves. But their spiritual development lies so far away from their thinking that they do not muster the slightest strength for it and also do not feel their lack of strength, consequently they also do not ask for help and consequently also do not grasp the help when it is offered to them in the form of enlightenment from knowledgeable people. For every attempt by a spiritually striving person to bring his worldly fellow human being onto the same path of striving is already a blessing; it is a help which God sends to the latter through a person if He does not obviously express Himself in order not to jeopardize the person's freedom of faith. But if the human being rejects it then he has not accepted God's grace, he has spurned it and therefore spiritually remains on the same low level, because in his disenchanted state he has to be offered active help and without it he will never be able to overcome his love of the world which, however, is an obstacle to spiritual endeavour. The human being as such is too weak to overcome all his faults and desires; however, he can do so with God's help, with the grace which is offered to him time and again by His love and which he only needs to utilize in order to mature spiritually as long as he still dwells on earth....

하나님의 도움. 은혜. 자유의지 사용.

세상적인 사람은 하나님의 은혜를 활용하지 않는다. 하나님의 은혜가 실제 그에게 같은 정도로 제공이 된다. 그러나 그는 하나님의 은혜를 사용하지 않고, 하나님의 은혜를 갈망하지 않는다. 그러므로 그는 하나님의 은혜를 요구하지 않는다. 하나님의 은혜 안에 거하는 일은 혼의 더 높은 성장을 위한 모든 수단을 받는 일이고, 그러므로 항상 어디서나 혼이 성숙할 수 있게 해주는 도움을 찾게 되는 일이다.

그러나 세상적인 사람은 혼이 성숙한 상태에 도달하기 위한 추구를 하지 않는다. 따라서 그는 또한 도움의 수단에 주의를 기울이지 않고, 필요로 하지 않는다. 그는 하나님의 은혜에 주의를 기울이지 않는다. 자신의 이 땅의 목표를 달성하기 위한 하나님의 도움 없이는 그는 너무 약하다. 그는 항상 자신의 혼에게 유익을 줄 수 있는 모든 기회를 지나치게 될 것이다.

왜냐면 사람이 하나님의 은혜를 사용하지 않더라도, 하나님이 아직 그를 굶주리게 하지 않기 때문이다. 다시 말해 하나님은 그를 돕지 않으면서, 다시 말해 은혜를 부여하는 일에서 그를 제외시키지 않으면서, 그로부터 전적으로 물러서지 않고, 평생 동안 항상 또 다시 하나님 자신이 그에게 가까이 다가간다. 하나님은 항상 또 다시 그에게 올바른 길을 보여주고, 자신의 종들을 그에게 보내고, 어떤 의미에서 항상 또 다시 그에게 은혜를 베푼다. 왜냐면 하나님은 자신을 위해 사람을 얻기 원하기 때문이다. 그러나 사람이 영적으로 성공하려면, 사람의 자유의지가 은혜를 받아들이기 위해 역사해야만 한다. 그가 의식적으로 하나님의 도움을 요청해야만 한다.

그러나 세상적인 생각을 가진 사람들은 대부분의 경우 믿음이 없다. 그러므로 그들은 유일하게 믿음에 근거한 것을 활용하지 않고, 도움을 구하지 않는다. 왜냐면 그들 자신이 위험 가운데 있다고 여기지 않기 때문이고, 또한 그들에게 도움이 필요하다면, 그들을 도울 수 있는 권세를 인정하지 않기 때문이다. 그들은 영적인 위험을 느끼지 못하고, 이 땅의 삶에 완전히 만족하고, 모든 생명력을 이 땅의 안락한 삶을 이루기 위해 사용한다. 그러나 그들은 그들의 영적인 성장을 전혀 생각하지 않기 때문에, 그들의 영적인 성장을 위해 지극히 작은 힘도 들이지 않고, 자신들의 힘이 부족하다는 것을 느끼지도 못한다. 결과적으로 그들은 도움을 요청하지 않고, 이로써 알고 있는 사람이 설명을 해주는 형태로 도움이 그들에게 제공되면, 도움을 받지 못한다.

왜냐면 영적인 추구를 하는 사람이 세상적인 이웃 사람을 같은 추구하는 길로 인도하려는 모든 시도는 이미 은혜이기 때문이다. 이런 일은 하나님이 사람의 믿음의 자유를 위태롭게 하지 않기 위해 자신을 분명히 표현하지 않을 때, 사람을 통해 세상적인 사람에게 주는 도움이다. 그러나 사람이 거부한다면, 그는 하나님의 은혜를 받아들이지 않은 것이고, 하나님의 은혜를 비방한 것이고, 그러므로 그는 영적으로 같은 낮은 수준에 머물게 된다. 왜냐면 영을 떠난 상태에 있는 그에게 적극적인 도움을 제공해야만 하고, 이런 도움이 없이는 그가 절대도 자신의 영적인 추구에 방해가 되는 세상을 향한 사랑을 극복할 수 없기 때문이다.

그런 사람은 자신의 모든 결점과 욕망을 극복하기에는 너무 약하다. 그러나 그는 하나님의 도움과 하나님의 사랑이 항상 또 다시 그에게 주는, 그가 아직 이 땅에 거하는 동안에 영적으로 성숙하기 위해 사용하기만 하면 되는, 은혜로 그런 일을 할 수 있다._>아멘
