Higher development and failure....

Everything in the world has its time, i.e. everything visible must undergo its higher development in a certain order, and the duration of this higher development has been determined by God since eternity. However, the beingness in the stage of free will can shorten the time of higher development as soon as it seriously strives for spiritual maturity. Consequently, the duration of development as a human being is completely up to him; he is not forced to live in a way that is conducive to the human being's degree of maturity, but he has to bear the consequences himself, as the time made available to him passes without having contributed to the soul's higher development. The human being cannot prolong this time at will, and since he does not know at all how long God's grace will grant him to mature, he must be all the more eager to achieve the highest possible degree of maturity on earth. The death of the body then ends every opportunity on earth to mature spiritually, and even if the soul is still offered the opportunity to perfect itself in the beyond, it will always remember with self-reproach the time on earth when it failed to strive while it was still in full possession of its strength. God has therefore left the will of man free up to now by also preserving the life of those people who had become apostate to Him. And He will not force them to accept His teaching in the future either, but He has set limits to the time of redemption by limiting this time from eternity.... For He saw the will of man and knew from eternity that the will would not utilize the time of grace of redemption. And thus He takes life from people, which they no longer appreciate and recognize as God's grace, and with life also the distant possibility of spiritual higher development....

높이 성장하는 일과 실패.

세상의 모든 일에 시간이 정해져 있다. 다시 말해 보이는 모든 것은 특정한 순서를 따라 더 높은 성장을 이뤄야만 하고, 더 높은 성장을 하는 기간은 영원부터 하나님에 의해 정해졌다. 그러나 자유의지를 가진 단계의 존재는 영적인 성장을 위해 진지한 추구를 한다면, 높은 성장을 위한 시간을 단축시킬 수 있다. 결과적으로 인간으로 성장하는 기간은 전적으로 인간 자신에게 달려 있다. 그는 사람의 성장정도를 높이는 일에 도움이 되게 살도록 강요를 받지 않는다. 그러나 그는 혼의 더 높은 성장을 이루지 못하면서, 그에게 주어진 시간을 보낸 결과에 대한 책임을 스스로 감수해야만 한다. 인간은 주어진 시간을 무기한으로 연장할 수 없고, 자신에게 보장되는 자신의 성장을 위한 하나님의 은혜의 기간이 얼마나 오래갈지를 전혀 알지 못하기 때문에, 그럴수록 그는 가능한한 이 땅에서 높은 성장에 도달하기 위해 더욱 열심을 내야만 한다.

육신의 죽음은 이 땅의 모든 영적으로 성숙할 수 있는 가능성이 사라지게 한다. 비록 저세상에서 혼을 온전하게 만들 수 있는 기회가 있을지라도, 혼은 이 땅에서 자신의 모든 힘을 가지고, 추구하는 일을 하지 않았던 시간을 자신을 책망하는 가운데 항상 기억하게 될 것이다.

하나님은 지금까지 사람의 의지에 자유를 주고, 또한 자신을 떠난 사람들의 생명을 유지시켰다. 하나님은 앞으로도 사람이 자신의 가르침을 받아들이도록 강요하지 않을 것이다. 그러나 하나님은 영원으로부터 구원받을 시간에 제한을 두었다. 왜냐면 그는 인간의 의지를 보았고, 영원으로부터 인간의 의지가 구원받을 은혜의 시간을 사용하지 않을 것을 알았기 때문이다. 그러므로 하나님은 더 이상 생명에 가치를 부여하지 않고, 생명을 하나님의 은혜로 깨닫지 못하는 사람들의 생명을 빼앗고, 이로써 앞으로 영적으로 더 높이 성장할 가능성을 빼앗는다.
