True wisdom of life - receiving the divine word....

It is true wisdom to absorb God's word, for nothing else can bring him the success that comes from divine wisdom. Life on earth only lasts a short time and this time is mostly used for the fulfilment of earthly tasks and the increase of earthly good. And the human being believes himself to be wise if he can achieve great success in this. And he completely neglects to take care of his spiritual well-being, and at the end of his life he is faced with a shortcoming which lets him recognize his failed earthly life. Wise is he who thinks of his soul first, who gathers spiritual wealth and disregards earthly advantages.... Wise is he who allows the divine word to have an effect on him, i.e. he who fulfils what is demanded of him by the divine word, for he constantly increases his spiritual wealth; he considers his soul and thus fulfils the most important earthly task.... He helps his soul to mature and acquires eternal life for it, i.e. a joyful state in eternity which can be called incomparably marvellous. Spiritual riches are not valued very highly on earth, they are not tangible to the human being and are therefore not striven for, and at the gate of eternity the human being then stands poor and merely opposite those who have not valued earthly life too highly and were poor in earthly goods but are now approaching an eternity full of light. The divine word was their constant companion, the divine word replaced a thousandfold what they lacked in earthly possessions; the divine word taught them love and, if they obeyed it, also brought them love, and thus the divine word brought them closer to God Himself and consequently they only aspired to the kingdom of God. The soul longed for its true home, for it only recognized earthly life as a transitional stage which was intended to bring it spiritual maturity. And thus he is infinitely wiser who allows God to speak to him through the word, who listens to Him and obeys His word, who despises earthly possessions and only strives for spiritual possessions, who strives for spiritual knowledge and does not attach great value to worldly knowledge, for he shapes his soul on earth and thus fulfils the actual purpose of earthly life.... he feeds his soul and gives it spiritual nourishment through the divine word....

참 지혜 - 하나님의 말씀을 받는 것.

하나님의 말씀을 영접하는 일이 진정한 삶의 지혜이다. 왜냐하면 그 무엇도 하나님의 지혜에서 나오는 성공을 그에게 줄 수 있는 것은 없기 때문이다. 이 땅의 삶은 단지 짧은 시간 동안 지속이 되고, 사람은 이 기간의 대부분을 이 땅의 과제를 수행하고, 세상의 재물을 늘리는 일에 사용한다. 사람이 이 일에서 큰 성공을 거둘 수 있다면, 그는 자신이 현명하다고 믿는다. 그는 자신의 영적인 안녕을 돌보는 일을 완전히 소홀히 하고, 그의 인생이 끝날 때, 그는 자신의 실패한 이 땅의 삶을 깨달을 수 있게 해주는 결점에 직면한다.

먼저 자신의 혼을 생각하고, 영적인 재물을 모으고, 이 땅의 이익을 무시하는 사람이 지혜로운 사람이다. 하나님의 말씀을 자신에게 적용하는 사람이, 즉 하나님의 말씀으로 자신에게 요구되는 일을 성취하는 사람이 지혜로운 사람이다. 왜냐하면 그는 끊임없이 자신의 영적인 재물을 증가시키기 때문이다. 그는 자신의 혼을 생각하고, 따라서 이 땅에서 가장 중요한 과제를 수행한다. 그는 자신의 혼이 성숙하도록 돕고, 영원한 생명을 얻는다. 다시 말해 영원 가운데 비할데 없이 영광스럽다고 할 수 있는, 즐거운 상태를 얻는다.

이 땅에서 영적인 재물은 실제 그다지 소중하게 여김을 받지 못한다. 영적인 재물은 인간에게 눈에 띄지 않기 때문에, 이런 재물을 추구하지 않는다. 그러면 사람은 영원의 문 앞에서, 이 땅의 삶을 너무 중요하게 여기지 않고, 세상적인 재물면에서 가난하지만, 이제 빛으로 가득 찬 영원을 향해 가는 사람들에 비해, 가난하고, 헐벗은 가운데 서게 된다. 하나님의 말씀이 그들의 끊임없는 동반자였고, 하나님의 말씀이 그들에게 부족했던 이 땅의 재물에 비해 천 배나 그들에게 보상을 해준다. 하나님의 말씀이 그들에게 사랑을 가르쳤다. 그들이 순종하면, 그들에게 사랑이 주어졌다. 그러므로 하나님의 말씀이 그들을 하나님께 더 가까이 다가가게 했고, 결과적으로 그들은 단지 하나님의 나라를 위해 추구했다.

혼은 참된 고향을 갈망했다. 왜냐하면 혼이 이 땅의 삶을 단지 자신이 영적인 성숙을 하게 해줄 지나치는 단계로 깨달았기 때문이다. 그러므로 하나님이 말씀을 통해 자신에게 말하게 하는 사람은, 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 순종하는 사람은, 세상 재물을 경멸하고, 영적인 재물만을 추구하고, 영적인 지식을 추구하고, 세상 지식에 큰 가치를 부여하지 않는 사람은 무한하게 현명한 사람이다. 왜냐면 그는 이 땅에서 자신의 혼을 형성하고, 이로써 실제 이 땅의 삶의 목적을 달성하기 때문이다. 그는 자신의 혼을 먹이고, 하나님의 말씀을 통해 자신에게 양식을 주기 때문이다.
