Overcoming oneself.... refinement of the being....

Without overcoming himself the human being cannot ascend, for only the human being who overcomes himself, who constantly fights against the ignoble in his nature, will shape himself such that he can approach the eternal deity and partake of His love and grace. He has to carry out the changes of his nature himself, he has to work on himself and thus take care of the reorganization of his soul, only then will the spirit from God be able to unite with the soul. But once this moment has occurred, when the union of soul and spirit has taken place, then the working of the spirit can also be clearly recognized.... Then the spirit in the human being drives him to lively activity for God.... Man's endeavours are now constantly directed towards the spiritual realm, while earthly life has lost its attraction for him. Although he still carries out earthly activities, his creative urge is directed towards the expansion of God's kingdom on earth, and it is his activity for this kingdom that gives him inner satisfaction. Spiritual work has now become his purpose in life, and he now also recognizes the necessity of this for his fellow human beings. What he has recognized as a treasure he now also tries to convey to his fellow human beings, and this undertaking requires perseverance and strength of resistance and can therefore only be carried out by a person who is serious about serving God, who recognizes the hardship of his fellow human beings, who is aware of their great distance from God and wants to remedy this situation. And his willingness to serve is accepted by God, it testifies to his love for God and his fellow human beings. But it will only be successful when the spirit of God is at work in the person, for only then will he be able to help his fellow human being in an enlightening way, otherwise he will be unable to give anything that will benefit him. For only the truth will benefit him again and therefore the one who wants to give must be in the knowledge. But this knowledge is imparted to him by the spirit from God so that he can now pass it on to those who want to receive it. Only then do they likewise begin to mould themselves according to God's will, to change their nature and to make themselves receptive to the spirit from God. For all higher development must be preceded by the transformation of the innermost being, without this the maturing of the soul is not possible....

Selbstüberwindung.... Veredlung des Wesens....

Ohne Selbstüberwindung kann der Mensch nicht zur Höhe gelangen, denn nur der Mensch, der sich selbst überwindet, der ständig ankämpft gegen das Unedle in seinem Wesen, wird sich so gestalten, daß er sich der ewigen Gottheit nähern kann und Ihrer Liebe und Gnade teilhaftig wird. Die Wandlungen seines Wesens muß er selbst durchführen, er muß an sich arbeiten und also für die Neugestaltung seiner Seele Sorge tragen, dann erst wird der Geist aus Gott sich mit der Seele verbinden können. Ist aber dieser Moment eingetreten, daß die Vereinigung von Seele und Geist stattgefunden hat, dann ist auch deutlich das Wirken des Geistes zu erkennen.... Dann treibt der Geist im Menschen diesen zu reger Tätigkeit an für Gott.... Das Streben des Menschen gilt nun unausgesetzt dem geistigen Reich, während das Erdenleben für ihn an Reiz verloren hat. Obgleich er die irdische Tätigkeit noch ausführt, ist doch sein Schaffensdrang der Erweiterung des Gottesreiches auf Erden zugewandt, und die Tätigkeit für dieses gibt ihm erst die innere Zufriedenheit. Die geistige Arbeit ist nun sein Lebensinhalt geworden, und er erkennt nun auch die Notwendigkeit dieser für die Mitmenschen. Was er als Kostbarkeit erkannt hat, sucht er nun den Mitmenschen gleichfalls zu vermitteln, und dieses Vorhaben benötigt Ausdauer und Widerstandskraft und kann sonach nur ausgeführt werden von einem Menschen, dem es ernst ist, Gott zu dienen, der die Not der Mitmenschen erkennt, der um die große Entfernung dieser von Gott weiß und diesen Zustand beheben möchte. Und seine Dienstbereitschaft wird angenommen von Gott, sie bezeugt die Liebe zu Gott und zu den Mitmenschen. Sie wird aber erst dann Erfolg haben können, wenn der Geist aus Gott im Menschen wirkt, denn dann erst ist dieser befähigt, dem Mitmenschen aufklärend helfen zu können, ansonsten er nichts geben kann, was jenem nützet. Denn ihm wird auch wieder nur die Wahrheit zuträglich sein, und es muß daher der Gebenwollende im Wissen stehen. Dieses Wissen aber vermittelt ihm der Geist aus Gott, so daß er es nun weiterleiten kann denen, die es aufnehmen wollen. Dann erst beginnen diese gleichfalls, sich zu formen nach dem Willen Gottes, ihr Wesen zu wandeln und sich aufnahmefähig zu machen für den Geist aus Gott. Denn jeglicher Höherentwicklung muß die Umgestaltung des innersten Wesens vorangehen, ohne solche ist ein Ausreifen der Seele nicht möglich....
