Right relationship and living connection.... externalities....

Being seized by God's love and considered with His grace always eliminates erroneous human thinking. The human being's will must first have recognizably turned away from God so that he falls into disgrace, only then is it possible for untruth to take possession of his thinking. However, as long as a person's will only strives for what is right, as long as he fears God as a righteous judge and always endeavours to live for His pleasure, the gates are closed to untruth; it will not find a heart willing to receive it, and in this realization everything that is conveyed from above to a person who is visibly in God's grace may be accepted as purest truth. God loves all His children and wants to protect them from untruth, yet they mostly withdraw themselves from His protection through their willingness to be God's adversary. However, if a child consciously submits to the father, trustingly surrenders to Him, desires His love, His grace and the truth, the father will truly not leave this child unprotected.... For this is the right relationship of the child to the father, which God wants to be established between His earthly children and Himself. This contact between the child and Him is free of outward appearances, it is the living connection which the human being enters into with God and an extremely beneficial act of will which is far more valuable than customs and traditions introduced by people which are intended to feign true worship of God and yet prevent people from entering into heartfelt and sincere contact with Him. For an intimate connection with God requires seclusion from the world, it requires a complete detachment from everything earthly.... Man must go into his innermost being, free and unhindered by external influences, and now pray very fervently: "Father, here I am.... take hold of me with Your love and grace and let me be blessed in You...." Every external influence, to which the human mind is still receptive, makes such an intimate connection impossible, because the human mind remains turned towards the world. He sees and hears things that belong to the world but which do not touch the innermost essence of God, even though they are supposed to visualize Him. And this focussing of the senses on outward appearances turns the union with God into an empty form. The human being believes himself to be connected to God when he attends actions that have nothing to do with the deep inner worship of God, and he loses the desire for a truly inner union with God, and this is a great danger for him....

올바른 관계와 생명력이 있는 연결. 외적인 면.

하나님의 사랑에 의해 붙잡힘을 받고, 하나님의 은혜를 받은 일이 인간이 항상 잘못된 생각을 하지 못하게 한다. 사람의 뜻이 이전에 깨달을 수 있게 하나님을 떠나, 그가 노여움을 산다면, 진리가 아닌 것이 비로소 그의 생각을 장악할 수 있다.

그러나 인간의 의지가 단지 옳은 일을 추구하는 동안에는, 그가 공의로운 재판관인 하나님을 두려워하고, 항상 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 삶을 살려고 노력하는 동안에는, 거짓의 문은 닫혀 있는다. 거짓은 받아드릴 준비가 된 심장을 찾지 못한다. 이런 깨달음 가운데, 볼 수 있게 하나님의 은혜 안에 있는 사람에게 위로부터 전해지는 모든 것은 가장 순수한 진리로 받아드릴 수 있다.

하나님은 자신의 모든 자녀를 사랑하고, 자신의 자녀들을 거짓으로부터 보호하기를 원한다. 그러나 그들 대부분이 하나님의 대적자를 향한 준비된 자세를 통해 하나님의 보호에서 벗어난다. 그러나 자녀가 의식적으로 자신을 아버지에게 복종시키고, 신뢰하는 가운데 자신을 드리고, 그의 사랑과 그의 은혜와 진리를 갈망한다면, 아버지는 진실로 이런 자녀를 보호받지 못한 채로 놔두지 않는다.

왜냐면 그런 일은 하나님이 자신의 이 땅의 자녀들과 자신 사이에 이루기를 원하는 자녀와 아버지의 올바른 관계이기 때문이다. 자녀가 아버지와 교제하는 관계는 외적인 것으로부터 자유롭다. 이런 관계는 인간이 하나님과 맺는 생명력이 있는 관계이고, 인간이 만든, 하나님을 참 예배를 드리는 척하면서, 사람들이 하나님과 긴밀하고 진지하게 연합하지 못하게 하는, 예절과 관습보다 훨씬 더 가치가 있는, 넘치는 축복을 받는 의지의 행위이다.

왜냐면 하나님과의 긴밀한 관계는 세상과의 격리를 요구하기 때문이다. 하나님과의 긴밀한 관계는 이 땅의 모든 것으로부터 완전한 분리되기를 요구한다. 사람은 외부의 영향에 의해 자유롭게 되어, 방해를 받지 않고, 자신의 가장 깊은 내면으로 들어가야만 하고, 이제 전적으로 긴밀하게 기도해야 한다. “아버지, 제가 여기에 있습니다. 당신이여, 당신의 사랑과 은혜로 저를 붙잡아주시고, 당신 안에서 제가 축복을 받게 해주십시오."

인간의 감각이 아직 외부에서 오는 모든 역사에 영향을 받는 사람들에게 그런 긴밀한 연결을 이루는 일이 불가능하다. 왜냐면 사람의 생각이 세상을 향하고 있기 때문이다. 그는 세상에 속한 것이 하나님을 볼 수 있게 해줘야 하지만, 그러나 하나님의 가장 깊은 성품을 느끼게 하지는 못하는, 세상에 속한 것을 보고, 받아드린다.

생각을 외부로 향하게 하는 일은 하나님과의 결합을 공허한 형식으로 만든다. 인간은 깊은 내면의 예배와는 무관한 의식에 참석할 때, 자신이 하나님과 연결되어 있다고 믿고, 그는 실제의 하나님과의 내적인 연합을 향한 갈망을 잃어버리고, 이런 일은 그에게 큰 위험이 된다.
