Teaching of Christ.... fulfilling the ten commandments.... commandment of love....

Man can seldom be persuaded to accept a teaching which appears to him to be annoying, and therefore it must be offered to him in such a way that any discord is avoided. It must first be objectively justified and the human being must recognize that only God's love gives such a teaching for the sake of his ennoblement. Man is shown what he should do and how he should be in order to become perfect.... He must be instructed, commandments must be imparted to him and he must willingly submit to everything that is demanded. Then the teaching from above is successful, then it brings him what its purpose is.... the degree of maturity of the soul, which is a prerequisite for entering eternal life. The teaching of Christ now encompasses all the commandments, the fulfilment of which contributes to the shaping of the soul according to God's will. People are given guidelines to which they must adhere; they are taught by God what is right and what is wrong, what they should do and what they should not do. And if they now want to live in a way that is pleasing to God, if they want to serve Him and gain His love, they must adhere strictly to the fulfilment of these commandments, even if they do not particularly appeal to them. The fulfilment of God's commandments will always require self-control, it will demand renunciation or overcoming, and the human being will always have to give up something if he wants to fully comply with the divine commandments. Because fulfilling the commandments always means self-denial. God has issued these commandments because people strive for precisely the opposite of what God wants and expresses through His commandments. He must therefore impose a certain compulsion on people, they must, as it were, fight against a strong desire within them, which they would not do, however, if it were not demanded by God, and the consequence of this would be that they would give in to the inner desire and their state of maturity would be highly jeopardized. God has laid down in His commandments everything that is necessary for people to observe, and He has summarized these commandments in His commandment of love: to love God above all things and your neighbour as yourself. Whoever faithfully fulfils these two commandments will do everything that God tells people to do through the ten commandments. And so the divine teaching will only ever exhort us to love, and anyone who endeavours to live in love will also live entirely in accordance with the divine teaching. He will not need to be given any special commandments, for he will, out of himself, because he lives in love, also show his love to every person; he will shy away from everything that goes against the divine commandments, for since he has already moulded himself into love, he cannot do anything other than give love and will always live his life in accordance with the divine teaching....

La Doctrine du Christ – l'accomplissement des dix Commandements - le Commandement de l'amour

L'homme peut rarement être incité à l'acceptation d'une doctrine qui lui apparaît fastidieuse, et donc elle doit lui être offerte de sorte que toute fausse note soit évitée. D'abord elle doit être justifiée avec logique et l'homme doit reconnaître que seulement l'Amour de Dieu lui donne une telle Doctrine pour son ennoblissement. À l'homme il est montré ce qu'il doit faire et comment il doit être pour devenir parfait. Il doit être instruit, les dix Commandements doivent lui être transmis, et il doit se soumettre volontairement à tout ce qui est exigé. Alors la Doctrine d'en haut réussit, alors elle procure ce qui est son but, c'est-à-dire le degré de maturité de l'âme qui est la condition préalable pour entrer dans la Vie éternelle. La Doctrine du Christ comprend tous les commandements, et leur accomplissement contribue à la formation de l'âme selon la Volonté de Dieu. Aux hommes il est donné des lignes de conduite auxquelles il doit se conformer ; ils sont instruits par Dieu de ce qui est juste et de ce qui est injuste, de ce qu’ils doivent faire et omettre. Et si maintenant ils veulent être complaisant à Dieu, s'ils veulent Le servir, se conquérir Son Amour, alors ils doivent se conformer précisément à l'accomplissement de ces Commandements, même s’ils ne leur plaisent pas particulièrement. L'accomplissement des commandements de Dieu exigera toujours une maîtrise de soi, ils demanderont un renoncement ou un dépassement, et l'homme devra toujours renoncer à quelque chose, s'il veut exécuter totalement les Commandements divins, parce que l'accomplissement de ceux-ci signifie toujours une auto-abnégation. Dieu a délivré ces Commandements, parce que les hommes tendaient vraiment au contraire de ce que Dieu voulait et demandait à travers Ses Commandements. Donc, il doit être imposé aux hommes une certaine contrainte, ils doivent pour ainsi dire combattre contre un fort désir en eux, chose que cependant ils ne feraient pas si elle n'était pas exigée par Dieu, et la conséquence de cela serait qu’ils céderaient au désir intérieur et leur état de maturité serait hautement en danger. Dieu a établi dans Ses Commandements tout ce qu’il est nécessaire d'observer pour les hommes, et Il a repris ces commandements dans Son Commandement de l'amour : aimer Dieu plus que tout et son prochain comme soi-même. Celui qui s'acquitte fidèlement de ces deux Commandements fera tout seul tout ce que Dieu à travers les dix Commandements commande aux hommes de faire. Et ainsi la Doctrine divine incitera toujours seulement à l'amour, et celui qui s’efforce de vivre dans l'amour, vivra entièrement selon la doctrine divine. Il n'y a pas besoin que des commandements particuliers lui soient donnés, parce qu'il les réalisera tout seul, parce qu'en vivant dans l'amour, l’amour de chaque homme les lui donnera ; il évitera surtout ce qui va contre les commandements divins, parce que vu qu’il s'est déjà formé dans l'amour, il ne peut pas donner autre chose que l’amour, et sa vie correspondra toujours à la Doctrine divine.
