Measures taken by earthly power against faith in Jesus Christ....

It remains a futile endeavour of the world to completely detach people from Christ, that is, to alienate His name from them and to eradicate His teaching. Although it will appear as if the worldly power is to succeed in this, it will only be able to force people to deny Jesus Christ up to a certain limit, but then it will also work for it to the same extent as against it. And Jesus' disciples will also have a power at their disposal that far surpasses worldly power. Only by invoking His name will they accomplish things which are impossible for worldly power, and this will increase the number of Jesus' followers, and then people's faith will come alive and the reputation of worldly power will diminish to the same extent as faith in Jesus Christ will grow. And the earthly power will not look upon it with favour, it will rather try with all its might to shake the faith in Jesus Christ; it will adopt a threatening attitude and threaten the harshest punishments to those who stand up for the spreading of the divine word and thus profess to be followers of Jesus. These will have to bow to earthly power and will be subjected to great tribulations. But even if it may seem earthly, as if all power is on their side, they will be unable to do anything against the power of faith of those who fight for God. These will manifest themselves through obvious signs and wonders that God Himself works in and through the believers. And where the believers no longer know what to do, there God Himself will appear and tell people what they should do, and people will speak when and how God wills it, and all measures which the world and its representatives take in order to eradicate faith in God, in the divine saviour, will be weak human work. They will have little success and this will increase their indignation to such an extent that they will make decrees upon decrees, but without real success, without reaching their goal. Many will certainly fall away from faith in Jesus Christ during this time, but those who stand firm and profess Him will endure the harshest trials; they will no longer surrender what they possess because Jesus Christ means far more to them than what earthly power can ever offer them....

Dispisizioni del potere terreno contro la fede in Gesù Cristo

Rimane un’impresa vana del mondo di staccare gli uomini totalmente da Cristo, quindi di estraniare a loro il Suo Nome e di estirpare i Suoi Insegnamenti. Avrà bensì l’apparenza come se questo dovesse riuscire al potere mondano, ma potrà imporre agli uomini una costrizione soltanto fino ad un certo limite, di rinnegare Gesù Cristo, ma poi nella stessa misura verrà lavorato sia contro che per quest’impresa. I discepoli di Gesù disporranno pure di un potere che supera di gran lunga il potere mondano. Loro compiranno delle cose soltanto sotto l’invocazione del Suo Nome, che sono impossibili al potere mondano, e questo aumenterà la schiera dei seguaci di Gesù, ed ora la fede degli uomini diventerà viva, la fame del potere mondano scomparirà nella stessa misura, come crescerà la fede in Gesù Cristo. Il potere mondano non vedrà questo con compiacimento, cercherà piuttosto con tutta la forza di scuotere la fede in Gesù Cristo; assumerà una posizione minacciosa e minaccerà con punizioni più aspre coloro che si adopereranno per la diffusione della Parola divina e si dichiareranno così come seguaci di Gesù. Costoro si dovranno piegare al potere terreno ed essere esposti a grandi afflizioni. Ma anche se sembrerà in modo terreno, come se tutto il potere sia dalla parte del potere terreno, non potranno nulla contro la forza di fede dei combattenti per Dio. Si manifesteranno attraverso evidenti segni e miracoli, che Dio Stesso opera in e tramite i credenti. Dove però i credenti non sanno più cosa fare, là Dio Stesso Si manifesterà e dirà agli uomini che cosa devono fare, e gli uomini parleranno quando e come Dio lo vuole e tutte le disposizioni che il mondo ed i suoi rappresentanti afferreranno per estirpare la fede in Dio, nel divino Redentore, saranno una debole opera d’uomo. Avranno poco successo, e questo accrescerà talmente la loro indignazione, che troveranno provvedimenti su provvedimenti, ma senza vero successo, senza arrivare alla meta. In questo tempo molti cadranno bensì dalla fede in Gesù Cristo, ma coloro che persevereranno e si dichiareranno per Lui, la loro fede ora sosterrà le prove più aspre; non rinunciano più a ciò che possiedono, perché per loro Gesù Cristo significa molto di più di ciò che il potere terreno ha mai da offrire loro.
