Low state of mind.... lack of understanding....
If the state of the soul is so low that it no longer regocnizes God's love, then this is proof that it was given terribly little and was offered nothing to strengthen it, which it needed. The human being has an unbelievable lack of understanding for everything spiritual, he remains unimpressed because all his thinking only applies to earthly life. The soul, however, is not regocnized and therefore not considered. The human being's whole feeling revolves around purely earthly goals, thus the soul is forced to serve the body, in that all thinking, feeling and willing is only allowed to apply to its preservation and it suffers unspeakably because this is of little benefit to it. The inner peace, the awareness of being of divine origin.... the desire for union with God, which would make the soul so unspeakably happy, is completely lacking, it is like a enslaved servant and only ever has to do what the body demands, and the actual goal.... union with God moves ever further away. For since the body completely claims it for itself, it becomes more and more worldly and loses all connection with God and that is its downfall and its ruin....

Lage zielentoestand – Onbegrip
Wanneer de staat van de ziel zo gering is, dat ze de liefde van God niet meer herkent, dan is het bewijs gegeven, dat ze ontzettend karig bedacht werd en haar niets ter versterking, wat ze nodig had, aangeboden werd. De mens heeft ongelooflijk weinig begrip voor al het geestelijke. Hij raakt niet onder de indruk, want al zijn denken betreft louter het aardse leven. Maar de ziel wordt niet erkend en dus ook niet bedacht.
Het gehele voelen van de mens draait om puur aardse doelen. Daarom is de ziel gedwongen om het lichaam te dienen, doordat al het denken, voelen en willen slechts de instandhouding van het lichaam dienen mag en de ziel onuitsprekelijk lijdt, omdat dit maar weinig nuttig voor haar is.
De innerlijke vrede, het bewustzijn van goddelijke afkomst te zijn, het verlangen naar de vereniging met God, dat de ziel zo onnoemelijk gelukkig zou maken, ontbreekt haar volkomen. Ze is als een onderdrukte dienares en moet nu steeds alleen doen, wat het lichaam verlangt en steeds verder verschuift het eigenlijke doel, de vereniging met God. Want omdat het lichaam haar geheel voor zichzelf opeist, wordt ze steeds wereldser en verliest ze elke verbinding met God en dat is haar ondergang en haar verderf.
