Jesus' suffering on the cross.... earthly body....

The suffering of Jesus on the cross is for many people an inexplicable process and not infrequently a reason to doubt the divinity of Jesus. The Lord suffered unspeakably on the cross, for it was the earthly body that took upon itself all the agonies of the death of the cross and endured immeasurable agonies of death. How could this be otherwise.... The spirit of God had to leave the human shell at the hour of death in order to complete the extent of the son of man's suffering, and thus He did not feel the slightest relief at the hour of death, for the work of redemption for humanity could only be completed in such a way that a human being completely gave up His bodily shell in the most dreadful pain for humanity's guilt of sin. A human being, Whose heart was full of love, took the most bitter death upon Himself. God was in all fullness in this human being, so that His activity on earth was divine activity, and all power over heaven and earth was due to Him.... And yet, He gave His miserable body to His enemies who wanted to destroy Him.... He made no use of His extraordinary strength, although one thought from Him would have been enough to destroy.... And His soul wrestled with itself in its agony and He spoke the words: "My God, why have You forsaken Me!...." It was His soul that was still connected to the body and in deepest distress cried out for the father-spirit, which in turn had to escape from the human body if the work of redemption was to be accomplished. And He emptied the cup down to the last drop.... No human being can measure the magnitude of this sacrifice, for His soul was so blameless and pure.... It suffered unspeakably from the lovelessness of those who pinned Him to the cross, for His soul was pure love and therefore one with God, and yet this love was unable to hold back sinful mankind from ist projekt.... The divinity withdrew, and the human being in all anguish of soul, in all adversity and torment stayed behind and died the most painful death on the cross. What suffered on the cross was human shell, and it felt this shell such superhuman agony. And yet the work of redemption could not have been accomplished otherwise, for the love of a human being had to be so great that he sacrificed himself for the whole of humanity. And Jesus was the purest being of God.... Man was unsurpassable in His perfection, for He also concealed the deity fully and completely within Himself.... And this pure being gave Himself into the hands of sin, He handed His body over to the servants of darkness, and they did not shy away from touching the purest being and putting an end to His life. And in unspeakable pain Jesus spoke the words: "It is finished...." and gave up.... i.e. the soul separated from the body, which suffered unspeakably out of love for humanity....

예수님의 십자가의 고통은 많은 사람에게 설명할 수 없는 과정이고, 적지 않게 예수님의 신성에 대한 의심을 불러 일으키는 원인이다. 주님은 십자가에서 말할 수 없는 고통을 겪었다. 그러나 십자가에서 모든 죽음의 고통을 받고, 헤아릴 수 없는 죽음의 고통을 견뎌낸 일은 이 땅의 몸이었다. 그렇지 않고 어떻게 다르게 될 수 있는가? 하나님의 영은 사람의 아들의 고통의 정도를 완전하게 하기 위해 죽음의 시간에 인간의 겉형체를 떠나야만 했다. 결과적으로 그는 죽음의 시간에 조금도 고통이 줄어드는 일을 느끼지 못했다. 왜냐하면 단지 한 인간이 인류의 죄짐을 위해 자신의 겉형체인 몸을 가장 끔찍한 고통에 완전히 내어주는 일을 통해 인류를 위한 구속사역을 완성시킬 수 있기 때문이다.

심장이 사랑으로 가득 찬 사람이 가장 끔찍한 죽음을 당했다. 하나님이 이 사람 안에 모든 충만함으로 거했다. 이로써 이 땅에서 행한 그의 역사는 하나님의 역사였고, 하늘과 땅이 모든 권세가 그에게 속했다. 그러나 그는 자신을 멸망시키려는 원수들에게 연약한 몸을 받쳤다. 비록 그가 생각만으로도 자기를 대적하는 모든 것들을 파괴할 수 있을지라도, 그는 자신의 특별한 능력을 사용하지 않았다. 그의 혼은 자신의 죽음의 공포 가운데 자신과 싸웠다. 그는 이렇게 말했다: "나의 하느님, 왜 저를 버리셨나요!" 구속 사역을 완수하려면, 아버지의 영은 인간의 몸에서 벗어나야만 했고, 그의 육체와 아직 연결되어 있는 것은 그의 혼이었고, 가장 큰 위험 가운데 아버지의 영을 불렀다. 그는 마지막 한 방울까지 잔을 마셨다.

아무도 이 희생의 크기를 측정할 수 없다. 그의 혼은 너무 죄가 없고 순수했다. 혼은 자신을 십자가에 매달은 사람들의 사랑 없음으로 말할 수 없이 고통을 겪었다. 그의 혼은 순수한 사랑이고, 따라서 하나님과 하나였다. 이 사랑이 죄 많은 인류의 계획을 막을 수 없게 했다. 신성은 물러 났고, 사람이 모든 혼의 두려움과 모든 위험과 고통 속에 머물렀고, 십자가에서 가장 고통스러운 죽음을 맞이했다. 인간의 겉형체가 십자가에서 고통을 겪었다. 겉형체가 초인적인 고통을 당했다. 그렇지 않으면 구속의 사역이 달리 성취될 수 없었다. 그러나 사람의 사랑이 인류 전체를 위해 자신을 희생할 정도로 커야만 했다.

예수님은 가장 순수한 하나님이었다. 인간 예수는 완벽 함에서 타의 추종을 불허했다. 왜냐하면 자신 안에 거룩한 하나님을 완전히 포함하고 있었기 때문이다. 이런 순수한 존재가 죄의 손에 자신을 맡겼고, 어두움의 종들에게 자신의 몸을 맡겼다. 말할 수 없는 고통 속에서 예수님은 이렇게 말했다: "다 이루었다.“ 그리고 자신의 영에게 넘겨주었다. 다시 말해 혼이 육체로부터 분리되었다. 육체는 인류를 향한 사랑으로 말로 표현할 수 없는 고통을 겪었다.
