School of the spirit.... earth life as a station of education....

Every individual creature is subject to the law to complete the school of the spirit, and it has to do this compulsorily through all periods of development in order to, however, be released from compulsion in the last stage and now be free to make use of the possibilities which serve spiritual development. The earthly child can be taught in the most exhaustive way if it only wants to be taught.... Spiritual strength is always at its disposal to initiate it into everything worth knowing for the salvation of its soul. It also constantly receives spiritual admonitions which it can hear through the inner voice, and all this is only ever a means to an end to achieve the spiritual state of maturity in order to reach that height which signifies the sphere of light for the earthly being and which differs considerably from the unfinished beings' stay outside of this sphere. As long as the human being does nothing to improve his spiritual state, as long as he is only purely earthly concerned about his well-being, the soul's state will always remain the same as when it entered earthly existence. Then the soul will have reached a dead end.... it will not strive for higher development, it will neither seek spiritual nourishment nor knowledge and thus will not change its state in the slightest.... However, time on earth will slip away and days and years will be spent useless.... For the soul has no part in all experiences but only the body. What would be the soul's share is not tangible to the human being and thus often not desirable. And yet the only important thing on earth is that the spirit be awakened and come to development. For only then is earthly life the educational station for the human being, when the soul strives towards ever higher realization and thus consciously completes the school of the spirit and the result is the state of perfection, which ensures entry into spheres of light after bodily death and is therefore the purpose and aim of embodiment as a human being....

Schule des Geistes.... Erdenleben als Bildungsstation....

Jedes einzelne Geschöpf unterliegt dem Gesetz, die Schule des Geistes zu absolvieren, und es muß dies zwangsmäßig tun durch alle Entwicklungsperioden hindurch, um jedoch im letzten Stadium dem Zwang enthoben zu sein und es ihm nun freisteht, sich die Möglichkeiten zunutze zu machen, welche der geistigen Entwicklung dienen. Es kann das Erdenkind belehrt werden in erschöpfendster Weise, wenn es nur belehrt werden will.... Es steht ihm jederzeit geistige Kraft zur Verfügung, die es einweiht in alles für sein Seelenheil Wissenswerte. Es gehen ihm auch unausgesetzt geistige Mahnungen zu, die es durch die innere Stimme vernehmen kann, und es ist dies alles immer nur Mittel zum Zweck, den geistigen Reifezustand zu erreichen, um so zu jener Höhe zu gelangen, die für das Erdenwesen die Lichtsphäre bedeutet und sich beträchtlich unterscheidet von dem außerhalb dieser Sphäre liegenden Aufenthalt der unvollendeten Wesen. Solange der Mensch nichts dazu tut, seinen geistigen Zustand zu verbessern, solange er nur rein irdisch um sein Wohlergehen besorgt ist, wird der Zustand der Seele immer der gleiche bleiben wie beim Eintritt in das Erdendasein. Es ist dann die Seele auf einem toten Punkt angelangt.... sie strebt nicht nach Höherentwicklung, sucht weder geistige Nahrung noch Erkenntnis und ändert also nicht im geringsten ihren Zustand.... Jedoch die Zeit auf Erden enteilt, und Tage und Jahre werden nutzlos verlebt.... Denn es hat die Seele keinen Anteil an allem Erleben, sondern nur der Körper. Es ist, was der Seele Anteil wäre, nicht greifbar dem Menschen und somit oft nicht begehrenswert. Und doch ist das einzig Wichtige auf Erden, daß der Geist erweckt werde und zur Entfaltung kommt. Denn erst dann ist das Erdenleben die Bildungsstation für den Menschen, wenn sich die Seele zu immer höherer Erkenntnis durchringt und also die Schule des Geistes bewußt absolviert wird und das Ergebnis der Zustand der Vollkommenheit ist, der das Eingehen in Lichtsphären nach dem leiblichen Tode sichert und also Zweck und Ziel der Verkörperung als Mensch ist....
