5499 The earthly task: Transforming into love.... The grace of God....

October 4, 1952: Book 60

Nothing unfulfillable has been assigned to you humans in earthly life when required to change yourselves into love.... For you are supported by Eternal Love and therefore it is easily possible for you to fulfill your earthly task; yet Eternal Love can only bestow blessings upon you constantly and you need to do nothing more than utilize these blessings. If used, you then will ascend with ease, but if you leave them unnoticed and therefore unused you then will be without strength to ascend, and then Eternal Love cannot help you either, because there is still resistance within you which makes your strength of love ineffective.

If you sought to connect with Eternal Love by activity in love you could attain a degree of maturity in a short time already.... You ought to shape yourselves into love, that is your task of life, and for this it is only necessary that you first have love of your own free will for a good intention and put this will into practice by serving your neighbor, by giving him help if he needs such.... Through this unselfish work of love already, the connection with God Who is Love from eternity, takes place.... And now through this connection, the path is created for a constant receipt of strength of love.... i.e., God as Eternal Love now provides you with the strength to constantly perform works of love, because this strength also influences your will, which in turn always feels more impelled to work in love. The human being becomes willing and able to love as soon as he has just once performed works of love of his own free will. Again and again God leads the human being into situations where he can be lovingly active. In His love He does everything to help the human being to perfection; He takes care of all the human being's feelings and determines the individual's fate accordingly; His gifts of grace are unmeasured and they all only aim at the human being's maturity of the soul, yet the human being must allow himself to be guided, he must follow his feelings, he must be wanting what is good and never pass by opportunities which stimulate and require his willingness to help. For all these are graces through which God wants to help the human being to mature.... to work in love in order to establish the union with God and then to draw unmeasured strength which secures his ascent. Believe in God and think of Him and you will also be able to feel His presence, because His love and grace constantly tries to influence you and is also able to do so if only you are of good will and strive to fulfill His will....
