Unbeständigkeit der irdischen Güter.... Deren Vernichtung....

Auf daß ihr euch nicht an die Welt verliert, will euch Gott zeigen, wie unbeständig die Güter der Welt sind und wie wenig Wert sie dadurch haben, weil sie von heut zu morgen euch genommen werden können. Euer Sinnen und Trachten gilt nur den irdischen Gütern, und eure ganze Lebenskraft verwendet ihr zumeist darauf, jene zu vermehren, doch es sind tote Güter, denen ihr nachstrebt, mit denen ihr nichts anfangen könnt, so ihr von dieser Erde scheidet. Entweder müsset ihr die Güter der Welt zurücklassen bei eurem Leibestode, oder ihr verlieret sie vorher schon. Und letzteres ist eine Gnade von Gott.... eine Gnade, die Er euch gewähret, auf daß ihr noch zum Erkennen kommen sollt. Er nimmt euch irdisches Gut, d.h., Er nimmt euch das, woran euer Herz hängt, indem Er es zerstören oder vernichten läßt, auf daß ihr nun erkennen sollt, daß es nur Scheingüter waren, deren Besitz euch gereizt hat, und daß diese vergänglich sind. Erst wenn ihr dies erkannt habt, werdet ihr euer Augenmerk lenken auf unvergängliche Güter, und dann war das Vernichtungswerk von Segen. Und das bezweckt Gott als erstes, daß die Menschen die Erkenntnis gewinnen, daß ihr Streben anderen Gütern gelten soll. Und darum nimmt Er euch vieles, woran euer Herz noch hängt, Er stellt euch arm und mittellos in die Welt, und dann sollet ihr euch bewähren, ihr sollt euch willig trennen von dem, was Gott euch nimmt, ihr sollt nichts Irdisches begehren, sondern nur danach Verlangen tragen, was aus dem geistigen Reich kommt, und dann werdet ihr auch geistigen Erfolg haben, und auch das Erdendasein wird um vieles leichter gestaltet werden, denn nun benötigt ihr nicht mehr solcher Beweise von der Wertlosigkeit irdischer Güter, es ist keine Gefahr mehr für euch, folglich dürfet ihr sie besitzen; denn nur dann besteht eine Gefahr, wenn euer Herz verkettet ist mit der Materie, wenn dessen Liebe eine verkehrte ist, wenn sie sich dem zuwendet, was der Mensch im Erdenleben verachten soll, und wenn er darüber seine Seele vergißt, die ihm anvertraut ist, für deren Gestaltung er verantwortlich ist. Und darum wird den Menschen noch unendlich viel genommen werden, sie werden alles hingeben müssen, und sie werden untröstlich und verzweifelt sein, so alles vor ihren Augen vergeht. Es ist auch dieses Vernichtungswerk nur ein Liebeswerk Gottes, weil alles nur ist und geschieht für die Seele des Menschen, daß diese ihre eigentliche Aufgabe erkennen lerne, auf daß sie geistige Schätze sammle und irdisches Gut unbeachtet lasse. Die geistigen Schätze haben Bestand bis in alle Ewigkeit, und erst, wenn der Mensch die Erde und ihre Freuden willig hingibt, ist sein Herz reif für Gaben anderer Art, für geistige Gaben, die ihm geboten werden durch die Liebe des Vaters, Der Seine Kinder zurückgewinnen will. Denn den Wert dieser Gaben erkennt er erst, so er den Unwert der irdischen Güter erkannt hat, und dann strebet er mit allen Sinnen die geistigen Güter an....

Impermanence of earthly goods.... their destruction....

So that you do not lose yourselves to the world, God wants to show you how impermanent the goods of the world are and how little value they have because they can be taken from you from one day to the next. Your thoughts and endeavours are only concerned with earthly goods, and you spend most of your life energy on increasing them, but they are dead goods that you strive for, with which you can do nothing when you depart from this earth. You either have to leave the goods of the world behind when you die or you lose them beforehand. And the latter is a grace from God.... a grace that He grants you so that you may still come to realize. He takes away your earthly possessions, i.e., He takes away what your heart is attached to by having them destroyed or annihilated so that you should now realize that they were only illusory possessions whose possession appealed to you and that they are transient. Only when you have recognized this will you turn your attention to imperishable goods, and then the work of destruction will have been a blessing. And this is God's first aim, that people gain the realization that they should strive for other possessions. And that is why He takes much from you what your heart still clings to, He places you poor and destitute into the world, and then you are to prove yourselves, you are to willingly separate yourselves from what God takes from you, you are to desire nothing earthly but only long for what comes from the spiritual kingdom, and then you will also have spiritual success, and your earthly existence will also become much easier, for now you no longer need such evidence of the worthlessness of earthly possessions, there is no longer any danger for you, consequently you are allowed to possess them; For only then does danger exist when your heart is chained to matter, when its love is wrong, when it turns towards that which the human being is supposed to despise in earthly life and when he forgets his soul, which is entrusted to him, for the shaping of which he is responsible. And therefore an infinite amount will still be taken from people, they will have to give up everything, and they will be inconsolable and despairing when everything passes away before their eyes. This work of destruction is also only a work of God's love, because everything is and happens only for the soul of man, so that it learns to recognize its actual task, so that it collects spiritual treasures and leaves earthly goods unnoticed. Spiritual treasures last for all eternity, and only when the human being willingly gives up the earth and its pleasures is his heart ready for gifts of a different kind, for spiritual gifts which are offered to him through the love of the father Who wants to win back His children. For he only recognizes the value of these gifts when he has recognized the worthlessness of earthly goods, and then he strives with all his senses for spiritual goods....
