Werkzaamheid in het hiernamaals en de mogelijkheid om op te stijgen

De zielen, van wie de rijpheidsgraad nog heel laag is, ontbreekt het in het hiernamaals aan elke kracht. Ze ondervinden daarom onuitsprekelijke kwellingen. Ze zijn zich van de kracht bewust, waarover ze op aarde konden beschikken. Zodoende is hun lot verslechterd en ze beseffen, dat ze niet in staat zijn om hun toestand te verbeteren.

De toestand van lijden van de mensen valt niet te beschrijven. Het is een toestand van de ergste gebrekkigheid en het smartelijkste gevoel van onbehagen. En in deze nood voegen zielen zich bij hen om te proberen hen uit hun lethargie wakker te schudden en hen om te beginnen het martelende van hun toestand voor ogen te houden om in hen de wil op te wekken om iets ter verbetering van hun toestand te doen. De aard van deze werkzaamheid is onbegrijpelijk voor de mensen. Het is een dienende bezigheid, die echter geen aards fundament heeft, maar die aan het geestelijke rijk aangepast is en daarom niet verklaard kan worden voor de mensen.

Nochtans is het een activiteit, die de wil van de ziel als voorwaarde heeft. Het is een activiteit, die ze kan uitvoeren, als de wil om te helpen actief in haar wordt. Alleen het willen helpen levert de ziel een verbetering van haar toestand op en dus ook een vooruitgang in haar geestelijke ontwikkeling.

Het is echter buitengewoon moeilijk om zulke krachteloze, eenvoudige zielen ertoe aan te sporen, hen ertoe te bewegen, om zich nuttig te maken. Om andere zielen te helpen. Meestal zijn juist deze zielen zo doordrongen van het eigen leed, dat ze voor het lijden van de andere zielen geen begrip hebben. Ze gaan achteloos aan hen voorbij. Ja, ze berokkenen hen vaak nog leed en hun omgang is liefdeloos tegen elkaar.

Maar de ziel ervaart dan des te grotere kwellingen en deze nemen tot in het ondraaglijke toe om de ziel gewillig te maken, als de lichtwezens hen nu in hun vermomming naderen. De weerstand is vaak groot, maar anderzijds ervaren de zielen het medeleven in hun nood als weldadig en ofschoon ze aanvankelijk ook afwijzend zijn, willen ze dan het medeleven niet missen en verlangen ernaar. En dit is al een kleine vooruitgang, die de lichtwezens naarstig benutten.

En dit werk aan de onrijpe zielen vereist veel liefde en geduld bij de lichtwezens. Maar het succes is ook zo gelukkig makend, dat ze zich onophoudelijk inspannen om deze arme zielen verlossing te kunnen brengen. Zodra de ziel maar wat meegaander geworden is, kan het werk van de lichtwezens aan haar beginnen. Deze maken haar nu bekend dat ze haar lot door liefdeloosheid verergert, maar het door de liefde kan verbeteren.

Ze proberen haar tot helpende activiteit aan te sporen, doordat ze haar het lijden van de andere zielen voorhouden en er nu naar toewerken, dat de ziel deze zielen helpt. Ze laten de wil van de ziel wel de vrijheid, zodat deze de helpende activiteit uit eigen beweging uit zal voeren. En als de ziel dit doet, dan begint ook het opstijgen van de zielen die in nood zijn, want ook de andere zielen profiteren hiervan, omdat ze zelf dat voor hun medelijdende zielen doen, wat hun aangedaan werd.

De verlossende werkzaamheid in het hiernamaals is een ononderbroken werkzaam zijn in liefde van onvoorstelbare betekenis, opdat de zielen, die op aarde gefaald hebben, zich in het hiernamaals toch opwaarts kunnen ontwikkelen en het geluk en de gelukzaligheid van de hemel kunnen genieten.

Activity in the afterlife and possibility of ascent....

Souls whose level of maturity is still very low lack all strength in the afterlife. They therefore experience nameless torment. They are aware of the strength they had at their disposal on earth. Their lot is therefore worsened and they realize that they are incapable of improving their situation. The state of suffering cannot be described to people, it is a state of extreme poverty and most agonizing discomfort. And in this misery they are joined by souls who try to shake them out of their lethargy and first of all show them the agonizing nature of their condition in order to awaken in them the will to do something to improve their situation. The nature of this activity is incomprehensible to people, it is a serving occupation which, however, has no earthly basis but which is adapted to the spiritual kingdom and therefore cannot be explained to people. Nevertheless, it is an activity which requires the soul's will; it is an activity which it can carry out when the will to help is aroused in it. Only the will to help brings about an improvement in the soul's situation and therefore also progress in its spiritual development. However, it is extremely difficult to motivate such weak, lowly souls to make themselves useful in order to help other souls. In most cases these souls are so absorbed in their own suffering that they have no sympathy for the suffering of other souls. They carelessly pass them by, indeed they often inflict suffering on each other, and their nature is unloving towards each other. But then the soul feels even greater agonies, and these increase to the point of unbearability in order to make the soul compliant when the beings of light approach it in their disguise. The resistance is often great, but on the other hand the souls perceive the participation in their adversity as a benefit, even if they are initially hostile; they then do not want to miss the participation and desire it, and this is already a small step forward which the beings of light eagerly utilize. And this work on the immature souls requires much love and patience on the part of the beings of light. But the success is also so gratifying that they constantly endeavour to bring redemption to these poor souls. As soon as the soul has become more compliant, the work of the beings of light can begin on it. They now show it that it worsens its fate through unkindness but can improve it through love. They try to stimulate it to help by showing it the suffering of the other souls and now work towards the soul helping them. They leave the soul's will free so that it should carry out the helping activity of its own accord. And if the soul does this then the ascent also begins for the needy souls, for the other souls also benefit from it because they themselves do to their fellow-suffering souls what is done to them. The redeeming activity in the beyond is an uninterrupted labour of love of inconceivable importance, so that the souls which have failed on earth can still develop upwards in the beyond and enjoy the happiness and bliss of heaven....
