Verandering van de wil - Gedwongen toestand - Bestemming - Oertoestand

De tegen God gerichte wil was aanleiding tot de afval van het geestelijke van God. Bijgevolg moet de aan God gelijke wil voor het geestelijke verbondenheid, dat wil zeggen aaneensluiting met God betekenen. En daaruit blijkt dat de wil van he afgevallen geestelijke eerst moet worden veranderd, wil het zich weer met God kunnen verbinden. Deze ommekeer is zin en doel van het aardse leven die echter zonder dwang moet plaatsvinden en zich daarom voltrekt in de vorm van een langzame positieve ontwikkeling.

Het wezenlijke wordt het zelfbeschikkingsrecht ontnomen. Dat wil zeggen: het moet zich schikken onder de wil van de Schepper, zolang het de gang over de aarde aflegt vóór de belichaming als mens in zoverre dat het in de voorstadia werkzaam moet zijn op de manier zoals God het elk scheppingswerk voorschrijft. Dit is geenszins een toestand van algehele willoosheid, maar het wezenlijke heeft zijn wil tevoren al tot uitdrukking gebracht en daarom werd het nu de taak opgelegd die overeenstemt met zijn wil. Het is alleen in zoverre een gedwongen toestand, dat het - nadat het eenmaal zijn wil te kennen heeft gegeven - niet meer kan tegenwerken maar nu de bezigheid moet uitvoeren waarvoor het zich tevoren heeft uitgesproken. Het wordt er in zekere zin toe aangezet te dienen, maar tevoren heeft het zich bereid verklaard te dienen, daar het anders niet werd toegelaten dienend bezig te zijn. Dus keerde zich de wil van het wezenlijke al meer en meer naar de eeuwige Godheid toe. De weerspannigheid werd opgeheven en de aaneensluiting met God werd in zekere zin onbewust nagestreefd.

Maar het wezenlijke moet nog een laatste wilsproef doorstaan waar elke dwang wordt uitgeschakeld en het wezen geheel vrij en bewust kan beslissen of het de weerspannige wil opgeeft of hier nog verder in verhardt. En dit is de tijd van de belichaming als mens die ieder wezen kan gebruiken in vrije wil. In deze tijd gaat het alleen om de wil, of hij zich naar God toe of van Hem af keert. En het zal de mensen nu duidelijk zijn dat alleen dan van een succesvol leven op aarde kan worden gesproken wanneer de eertijds aan God weerspannige wil geheel is veranderd, zich dus volledig onderwerpt aan de goddelijke wil en bijgevolg de verwijdering van God wordt verminderd. Want dit laatste betekent een toenadering tot God in bewuste staat. Het betekent een algehele verandering van het geestelijke dat zich eens in vrije wil van God afkeerde en nu deze vrije wil weer gebruikt voor de aaneensluiting met God.

Het geestelijke herstelt nu weer zijn oertoestand zonder dat het door God daartoe wordt gedwongen. En dit betekent verlossing van het geestelijke uit het omhulsel dat God als keten bij het geestelijke heeft gevoegd om het weer naar Zichzelf toe te leiden. Het betekent voor het geestelijke een vrije, onvoorstelbaar gelukkig makende staat die met zijn oorspronkelijke bestemming overeenstemt en daarom het doel van al het niet verloste geestelijke is.

Transformation of the will.... state of compulsion.... goal - original state....

The God-opposing will was the cause of the spiritual being's apostasy from God, therefore the God-like will for the spiritual being has to mean unity, i.e. union with God, and from this it is obvious that the will of the apostate spiritual being has to be changed first if it is to be able to unite with God again. This transformation is the meaning and purpose of life on earth, but it has to take place without compulsion and therefore takes place in the form of a slow higher development. The beingness is deprived of its right of self-determination, i.e. it has to subordinate itself to the creator's will as long as it covers the path on earth before the embodiment as a human being insofar as it has to be active in the preliminary stages in the way God prescribes for every work of creation. This is by no means a state of complete lack of will, but the beingness has already expressed its will before, and that is why it was now given the task which corresponds to its will. It is only a state of compulsion insofar as, once it has expressed its will, it can no longer counteract it but must now carry out the activity to which it has previously committed itself. It is, so to speak, induced to serve, but it has previously declared its willingness to serve, otherwise it would not be permitted to serve. Thus the will of the beingness already turned more and more towards the eternal deity, the resistance was given up and the union with God was so to speak unconsciously striven for. But the beingness still has to pass a last test of will, where all compulsion is eliminated and the being can decide completely freely and consciously whether it gives up the will opposed to God or still persists in it. And this is the time of embodiment as a human being, which every being can now utilize of its own free will. In this time it is only about the will, whether it turns away or towards God. And it will now be understandable to people that one can only speak of a successful change on earth when the once God-opposing will has completely changed, that is, when it completely subordinates itself to divine will and thus reduces its distance from God.... For the latter means an approach to God in a conscious state, it means a complete change of the spiritual, which once turned away from God in free will and now uses this free will again to unite with God.... The spiritual now restores its original state without being forced to do so by God, and this signifies the redemption of the spiritual from the cover which God has added to the spiritual as a fetter in order to lead it back to Himself; for the spiritual it signifies a free, inconceivably blissful state which corresponds to its original purpose and is therefore the goal of all unredeemed spiritual....
