Sterkere of zwakkere wil om te ontvangen – De liefde voor God

Een zich bewust verdiepen in een geestelijke toestand vereist een toegenomen wilskracht en moet daarom voortdurend beoefend worden, om welke reden de mens er niet mee op mag houden om niet slap en ongeschikt te worden voor een taak, waar zo’n zich verdiepen voor nodig is.

De mens moet zich oefenen in het uitschakelen van elke gedachte, als hij de zachte stem in zich wil horen. En verder moet hij aandachtig naar zijn innerlijk luisteren. De geest uit God staat steeds klaar om de goddelijke geschenken aan te bieden, maar de ziel is niet altijd in staat om hetgeen aangeboden wordt, op te nemen. En als de ziel zich niet volledig opent, kan de geest haar het goddelijke geschenk niet geven, of de ziel hoort enkel onduidelijk en voor haar niet goed te begrijpen, wat de geest uit God haar mee wil delen.

Maar de geest is bereidwillig om te geven en heeft kostelijke goederen om uit te delen, om welke reden de ziel elke mogelijkheid moet benutten om het kostelijke geschenk te ontvangen. Want dit betekent geestelijke rijkdom voor de ziel, die onvergankelijk is. Er zijn voor het ontvangende mensenkind geen grenzen gesteld, als de wil van de mens maar zo sterk is, dat hij zich gewillig van de aardse wereld losmaakt. Zodra hem dit lukt, kan de geest uit God zich al uiten en de mens nu onderwijzen.

Het naar het innerlijk luisteren vereist de grootste zelfoverwinning, want al het denken moet uitgeschakeld worden, opdat alleen maar geestelijke goederen van het hart naar de hersenen geleid kunnen worden. En deze genade is het gevolg van een juiste levenswandel voor God en door een toegenomen werkzaam zijn in liefde en daarom zal de mens des te gemakkelijker zijn gedachten uit kunnen schakelen, des te actiever hij de naastenliefde beoefent. Des te helderder en begrijpelijker zullen de gedachten hem toestromen, tot de mens zonder inspanning de toestand bereikt, waar de gedachten hem onstuitbaar en zonder pauze toestromen en net zo weergegeven kunnen worden, want dan is het geestelijke werkzaam zijn zo sterk, dat het de mens onvermijdelijk een rijke kennis op moet leveren.

Maar eerst moet de mens nog erg strijden en bidden en wel des te meer, naarmate het hem zwaarder valt om in nauw contact te komen met God en Zijn wezens in het hiernamaals. Hij kan door een vurig gebed om de kracht uit God verzoeken, die hij nodig heeft voor zijn ziel, opdat ze de stem van de geest in zich hoort en dus het goddelijke geschenk in ontvangst kan nemen.

Strong or weakened will to receive.... love for God....

Consciously immersing oneself in a spiritual state requires increased willpower and must therefore be practiced constantly and continuously, which is why the human being should not desist from it in order not to become lukewarm and incapable for a task that requires such immersion. Man must practice switching off all thoughts if he wants to hear the subtle voice within himself; and furthermore he must listen attentively inwards. The spirit of God is always ready to offer divine gifts, but the soul is not always able to receive what is offered to it. And as soon as the soul does not open itself completely, the spirit cannot impart the divine gift to it, or the soul only hears unclearly and not quite understandably what the spirit wants to tell it from God. However, the spirit is willing and has precious gifts to hand out, which is why the soul should make use of every opportunity to receive precious gifts. For this means spiritual wealth for the soul, which is everlasting. There are no limits for the receiving earthly child if only the human being's will is so strong that he completely detaches himself from the earthly world. As soon as he succeeds in this, the spirit from God can already express itself and now instruct the human being. Listening inwards requires the greatest self-conquest, for all thinking must be eliminated so that only spiritual good can be channelled from the heart to the brain. And this grace is the result of a right way of life before God and of increased activity of love, and therefore the more actively a person practices neighbourly love the easier he will be able to switch off his thoughts. The clearer and more comprehensible the thoughts will flow to him until the human being reaches the state without effort where the thoughts flow to him unstoppably and without pause and can likewise be returned, for then the working of the spirit will be so strong that it will inevitably result in rich knowledge for the human being. But before that the human being still has to struggle and pray very much, and indeed the more the more difficult it is for him to enter into intimate contact with God and His beings in the beyond. Through heartfelt prayer he can request the strength from God which he needs for his soul so that it can hear the voice of the spirit within itself and thus receive the divine gift....
