의지의 변화와 성격의 변화. 예수 그리스도는 도움이다.

이 땅의 삶의 모든 성취는 하나님께 더 가까이 가기 위해 추구하는 일에 달려 있다. 왜냐면 그러면 의지가 하나님께 향했고 그러므로 하나님께 귀환이 이미 의지적으로 이뤄졌기 때문이다. 그러나 한때 하나님을 떠난 일이 존재를 변화시켜 온전하지 못한 피조물로 만들었다. 의지가 하나님께 향해야만 하는 것처럼, 존재는 다시 온전하게 돼야만 한다. 그러면 존재가 비로소 하나님과 다시 하나가 될 수 있고 그러면 영의 나라에서 하나님과 함께 하나님의 뜻대로 창조하고 역사할 수 있다.

그러므로 인간은 자신이 이 땅에 사는 동안에 온전하기 되기 위해 추구해야만 한다. 이 말의 의미는 그가 자신의 모든 온전하지 못한 특성을 물리치고 자신을 그와 반대로 바꾸고 모든 덕스럽지 못한 성품과 실수와 죄악을 벗고 덕성을 가진 사람으로 변화시키기 위해 의식적으로 자신에 대한 작업을 해야만 한다. 이일은 어려운 일을 시작하는 일이고 힘이 필요한 일이다. 그러나 하나님은 자기 자신을 추구하는 모든 사람에게 힘을 준다. 하나님을 향한 의지가 심장 안에서 깨어나면 하나님의 사랑이 그를 붙잡고 그가 이제 그의 목표에 더 가까이 다가갈 수 있도록 계속하여 힘을 제공한다.

그러나 얼마나 적은 수의 사람들이 이런 진지한 의지를 가졌는가! 그러나 사람이 하나님을 갈망한다고 입으로 말하는 일로 충분하지 않고 이런 소원이 심장 안에서 나와야만 하고 외부의 압력이 전혀 없이 하나님과 연결을 이루도록 이끌어야만 한다. 인간의 의지는 하나님의 지원을 받고 인간의 의지는 자유하다. 그러므로 이런 의지로 하나님께 향하는 모든 사람은 복을 받고 그의 성장은 확실하게 되고 그는 그가 떠난 깊은 곳으로 다시 떨어질까 봐 전혀 두려워할 필요가 없다.

너희는 이제 하나님을 향한 의지가 절대로 세상을 향한 의지가 될 수 없다는 것을 다시 이해하게 될 것이다. 그런 의지는 서로 반대이고 인간이 추구할 수 있는 두 가지의 목표인 하나님이거나 또는 세상이고 절대로 하나님과 그리고 세상이 될 수 없다. 하나님을 진지하게 갈망하는 사람은 더 이상 세상의 자극을 받지 않을 것이다. 그러나 세상과 세상의 재물을 갈망하는 사람은 그의 내면이 아직 하나님으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있어 그는 깊은 곳이 그를 아직 풀어주지 않았고 그가 다시 깊은 곳으로 떨어질 위험에 처해 있다.

그는 자신의 성품을 바꾸기 위해 자신에 대한 작업을 절대로 하지 않을 것이고 자신의 성품을 옳고 선하다고 생각할 것이다. 그는 모든 일에서 자신을 관철시키는 법을 알게 될 것이고 이 가운데 사랑에 주의를 기울이지 않을 것이다. 왜냐면 그의 성품은 단지 모든 본능의 지배를 받고 이런 일이 그가 하나님을 대적한다는 것을 증명하기 때문이다. 비록 그가 이제 큰 육체적 힘을 가지고 있고 그가 또한 이 땅의 삶을 다스릴 수 있을지라도 그러나 그는 자신의 혼에 대한 작업을 성취시킬 수 없게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 자신의 혼에 대한 작업을 위해 그가 하나님으로부터 힘을 받아야만 하고 그의 의지가 아직 하나님께 향하지 않은 동안에는 그에게 힘이 흘러갈 수 없기 때문이다. 그가 도움을 받지 않으면, 그의 의지는 세상으로부터 자유롭게 될 수 없다.

그러나 도움은 예수 그리스도이고 도움은 은혜의 보물이다. 은혜의 보물은 예수 그리스도가 너희 사람들의 연약한 의지를 강하게 하기 위해 십자가에서 너희를 위해 구매한 것이다. 예수 그리스도께 향하고 그에게 힘을 구하는 사람은 또한 예수 안의 하나님 자신을 깨닫는다. 이런 일은 의지를 하나님께 향하게 하는 일과 같고 이로써 항상 힘의 제공받는 보상을 받게 된다. 그러나 세상은 그렇게 쉽게 혼을 포기하지 않고 세상 사람은 또한 예수 그리스도께 향하는 길을 단지 희귀하게 갈 것이다. 그러므로 그는 단지 하나님의 말씀을 통해 그가 예수 그리스도와 그의 구속사역을 생각하도록 가르침을 받을 수 있다.

세상 사람은 단지 하나님의 말씀을 통해 얻을 수 있다. 왜냐면 하나님의 말씀을 거부하지 않으면, 하나님의 말씀 자체가 힘이기 때문이다. 하나님 자신이 모든 사람에게 말한다. 이로써 사람의 의지가 하나님께 향하게 하고 하나님을 향한 저항을 포기하게 하고 자신을 전적으로 모두 하나님께 드리도록 움직이게 한다. 그러나 이전에 의지가 항상 하나님의 말씀을 들을 준비가 돼야만 한다. 사람이 자신의 저항을 포기하고 하나님을 깨닫고 이제 하나님께 자신을 드리는 일이 그가 이 땅에서 내린 결정이면, 하나님은 그를 붙잡아 자신에게 끌어들일 것이고 그는 그가 한때 자발적으로 떠난 아버지의 집으로 돌아가게 될 것이다.

Transformation of will and being.... help is Jesus Christ....

The entire fulfilment of earthly life lies in the striving to come closer to God, for then the will has also turned towards Him and the return to God is therefore already accomplished in terms of the will. But the former turning away from God had also changed the being and turned it into an imperfect creature, and just as the will has to change to God, so the being has to change again to perfection before it can unite with God again in order to be able to create and work with Him and in His will in the spiritual kingdom. Thus the human being must strive for this perfection during his earthly change, and this means that he must consciously work on himself in order to remove all characteristics of imperfection from himself, in order to turn himself into the opposite: in order to discard all vices, faults and errors and change them into virtues. This is a difficult beginning, and it requires strength. But God turns the strength to every person who strives towards Himself.... And as soon as the will for God awakens in the heart, God's love takes hold of him and now constantly provides him with strength to come closer to his aim.... But how few have this serious will.... for it is not enough for the mouth to express it that the human being desires to God, but this desire must arise in the heart and completely without external pressure lead to the bond with God.... The human being's will is demanded by God, and this is free. For this reason, however, every person is blessed and certain of his ascent if this will towards God moves him, and he need never ever fear sinking into the depth again which he has left. And again you will now understand that the will to God can never be the will to the world, for it is a matter of two opposites, there are two aims which can be man's striving, God or the world, but never God and the world.... Anyone who earnestly desires God will no longer be tempted by the world, but anyone who desires the world and its goods is still so far from God in his inner being, the depth has not yet released him and he is in great danger of sinking to the depth again. Nor will he ever work on himself in order to change his nature, instead he will regard his nature as right and good, he will know how to assert himself everywhere and thereby also disregard love, for his nature is only dominated by all those urges which prove his opposition to God. And even if he has great physical strength at his disposal, even if he will be able to master earthly life, he will not be able to accomplish the work on his soul because the strength from God has to flow to him for this, but it cannot flow to him as long as his will is still turned away from God. And his will cannot detach itself from the world if it is not granted help.... But the help is Jesus Christ, the help is the treasure of grace which Jesus Christ acquired for you humans on the cross in order to strengthen your weak will. And anyone who turns to Jesus Christ and appeals to Him for strength also acknowledges God Himself in Jesus, and this is like the devotion of the will to God, which is also always rewarded with the influx of strength. But the world does not release a soul so easily, and a worldly person will also only rarely take the path to Jesus Christ.... And therefore he can only be instructed by the word of God to mentally occupy himself with Jesus Christ and His act of salvation. A worldly person can only be won through God's word, for this is strength itself as soon as it is not rejected. For God Himself addresses every human being in order to motivate him to give Him his will, to abandon opposition to Him and to fully surrender to Him.... But the will always has to be ready to hear God's address beforehand, for this is the human being's decision on earth that he gives up his resistance, that he acknowledges God and now surrenders himself to Him.... And God will seize him and lift him up to Himself, he will return to his father's house which he once voluntarily left....
