좁은 길.

나는 너희 안에 거하기 원하고, 너희 심장 안에서 다스리기 원한다. 그러나 너희를 축복되게 하는 사랑으로 다스리기 원한다. 나는 너희 안에 거하기 원하고, 내 임재가 너희를 내 자녀로 만든다. 그러면 내가 나에게 속한 사람들에게 다가간 것이고, 그들이 나를 영접한 것이다. 내 모든 사랑이 내 피조물로서 이 땅에 거하는 너희에게 속해 있다. 이 사랑이 너희를 돌보고, 비록 자주 돌이 많고 가기 힘든 길이지만, 그런 길로 인도한다. 나는 너희를 인도한다. 그러나 나는 목표에 서서 너희를 다시 기다린다.

그러므로 너희는 내 지속적인 도움을 받을 수 있고, 어느 누구도 내 도움을 받지 못했다고 말할 수 없다. 그러나 너희가 내 사랑이 충만한 재촉과 내 사랑의 부름을 따르지 않으면, 너희는 뒤쳐지고, 나를 따르는 사람은 큰 진전을 하고, 그들은 목표에 도달한다. 나 자신이 그들을 내 아버지의 심장으로 영접하고, 내 집으로 인도한다. 자기 자신의 죄로 인해 끝없이 긴 기간 동안 아버지를 떠났던 자녀가 아버지의 집에 도달한다. 자녀는 이제 최종적으로 돌아온 것이다. 왜냐면 그가 나에게 인도하는 유일한 길인 사랑의 길을 갔기 때문이다.

그러나 이 길은 가기에 쉽지 않은 길이고, 유혹을 제공하지 않고, 눈요기 할 것을 제공하지 않는다. 이 길은 평탄하지 않고, 가게에 쉽지 않고, 한 걸음 한 걸음 가야만 한다. 왜냐면 이 길은 경사지고, 높은 곳으로 인도하는 길이고, 이 길을 가기 위해 먼저 많은 장애물을 제거해야만 하기 때문이다. 그러나 이 길은 갈 수 있는 길이다. 왜냐면 한 인도자가 항상 너희가 포기하려고 하면, 너희를 지원하고 보호하면서 너희와 함께 가기 때문이다. 그는 너희에게 사랑이 충만한 말을 하고, 너희가 져야만 하는 짐을 대신 져준다. 그는 너희를 조심스럽게 위험한 절벽에 길을 통과하도록 인도한다. 그는 항상 너희의 동행자이다. 그러므로 너희가 목표에 도달하려는 의지를 가지고 있다면, 너희는 목표에 도달할 수 있다.

그러나 이제 너희 관점을 실제 넓은 길로 향하게 할 수 있는 가능성이 있고, 이 넓은 길은 너희에게 쉽게 갈망할 만한 길로 보일 수 있다. 왜냐면 이 넓은 길은 모든 종류의 기쁨과 즐거움으로 둘러싸여 있기 때문이다. 가장 사랑스럽게 보이는 장면들이 순례자가 좁고, 가기 어려운 좁은 길을 벗어나 많은 사람들이 세상의 기쁨에 도취되어 있는, 넓은 유혹하는 길을 가보도록 유혹한다. 이 유혹은 아주 크다. 그러므로 몇몇의 사람들은 이 유혹을 이길 수 없고, 그들은 힘든 길을 벗어나고, 그들은 항상 넓은 길을 가도록 도움을 받는다. 왜냐면 모든 곳에 그에게 손짓하고, 손을 내밀고, 순례자를 좁은 길로부터 유혹해 낼 수 있는 일을 기뻐하는 형상들이 있기 때문이다. 그러나 넓은 길은 같은 목표로 인도하지 않고, 넓은 길은 내리막으로 인도한다. 반면에 좁은 길은 높은 곳으로 인도한다.

이런 설명이 너희가 단지 극복을 통해 마지막 목표에 도달할 수 있음을 너희에게 선명하게 해주고, 자신과의 싸움과 이 길에 놓여 있는 어려움들과의 싸움이 확실하게 필요함을 너희에게 선명해준다. 그러므로 이를 진지하게 여기는 사람이 어려움에 주의를 기울이지 않고, 그의 눈이 내가 가장 영광스러운 목표로 손짓하는 높은 곳을 향하면, 단지 마지막 목표에 도달할 수 있다. (1956년 6월 4일) 그러면 나 자신이 위험을 넘어서도록 그의 발걸음을 인도한다. 그러면 그는 장애물을 보지 않고, 그가 잡을 수 있도록 길의 끝까지 그를 인도하는 내 손을 그에게 내미는 나에게 그의 눈을 고정시킨다.

그러나 서로 다른 길을 가는 사람들의 삶이 얼마나 서로 다른가! 얼마나 많은 세상의 기쁨과 즐거움이 한 사람에게 있고, 다른 사람에게는 수많은 궁핍과 고난과 수고가 있는가! 한 사람은 여러 가지 다양한 일을 날마다 체험하는 반면에 다른 사람은 사랑이 그를 인도하기 때문에 단지 그 자신의 그리고 다른 사람의 위험만을 보고 자신의 짐 뿐만 아니라 이웃들의 짐을 지는가! 그러나 언젠가 보응의 날이 올 것이다. 이 보응은 사람 자신이 원한대로, 그가 자신의 소원을 증명한대로 이뤄질 것이다.

영을 추구한 사람은 모든 수고 가운데 나를 잊지 않고, 끈기 있게 나를 향해 다가 온 사람은 영의 재물을 받을 것이다. 그러나 넓은 길을 간 사람은 갑작스럽게 이 길이 깊은 곳에서 끝나는 것을 보게 된다. 깊은 곳은 모든 것을 영접할 것이다. 왜냐면 그들이 실제 선한 의도로 시작했지만, 이 길을 곧 포기하고, 계속하여 아래를 향해 갔기 때문이다. 왜냐면 유혹이 모든 생각을 흐트러지게 만들었고, 내 대적자가 사람들의 혼에 역사할 수 있는 곳에서 죄가 만연해지기 때문이다. 넓은 길은 대적자에의해 사람들을 멸망시키려는 목적으로 놓여졌다.

그러므로 두 가지 세력이 너희 사람들을 유혹하고, 너희 자신이 결정할 수 있다. 너희 스스로 누구에게 속할지 선택할 수 있다. 너희 자신이 내 자녀가 될 수 있다. 그러나 너희는 또한 대적자의 자녀로 머물 수 있다. 이 일이 너희 사람들이 이 땅에서 결정해야만 하는 일이다. 이 결정은 큰 책임이 있는 결정이다. 왜냐면 이 결정이 너희의 모든 영원을 결정하기 때문이다. 그러므로 두 가지 권세자가 각각 자신의 전령을 보낸다. 넓은 길을 가는 어떤 사람도 경고자와 권면하는 사람을 만나지 못하는 사람은 없다. 왜냐면 경고자와 권면하는 사람들은 길가에 서있고, 유일하게 구원해줄 수 있는 주님을 알고, 이런 깨달음을 그들의 이웃에게 알려주고, 이웃이 아주 위험한 넓은 길을 벗어나도록 돕기 때문이다.

순례자에게 영향을 미쳐 넓은 길을 벗어나 좁은 길을 가는 순례자에게 속하게 되는 일이 단지 희귀하게 성공한다. 그러나 내 사랑과 긍휼이 이런 사람을 감싸고, 내가 그들의 성장을 쉽게 해준다. 왜냐면 그들이 그들 자신을 극복했기 때문이다. 극복하는 사람에게 영광의 면류관이 기다린다. 그들은 첫째가 될 것이다. 왜냐면 그들이 내가 다른 사람에게도 선물하기 원하는 그러나 거부를 당해야만 했던 내 모든 아버지의 사랑을 소유하기 때문이다. 왜냐면 넓은 길을 가는 사람은 내가 없이 가기 때문이고, 세상을 향한 사랑이 나를 향한 그리고 이웃을 향한 모든 사랑을 말살시키기 때문이고, 사랑이 없이는 간격을 극복할 수 없기 때문이다.

사랑의 십자가의 길을 가라. 사랑을 행하고, 고난을 당하라. 너희의 이 땅의 짐을 겸손하게 순복하며 짊어져라. 이를 통해 너희가 나에게 향하는 거리를 현저하게 줄일 수 있음을 알라. 너희 혼이 성장해 나갈 수록, 너희 혼은 항상 더욱 밝아지고, 선명해진다는 것을 알라. 너희가 너희와 같이 행하지 않은 혼보다 우월하다는 것을 알라. 너희가 언젠가 영의 나라에서 영적인 성장에 뒤쳐진 사람들에게, 그들도 빛에 도달하도록 역사할 수 있다는 것을 알라. 왜냐면 내가 맘대로 이 땅의 삶에서 실패한 내 뜻대로 살지 않고 내 대적자가 자신을 정하게 만든 사람을 빛에 나라에 들어가게 할 수 없기 때문이다. 그러나 그들은 영원히 멸망을 받아야 하는 것은 아니다. 이런 혼들이 이 땅의 올바른 길이 얻게 하는 빛의 정도에 절대로 도달하지 못할지라도 혼들이 어두움을 벗어나게 하는 일과 혼들이 축복에 도달하게 하는 일이 너희가 언젠가 해야 할 너희의 사명이다.

The narrow path....

I want to dwell within you, I want to reign in your hearts, yet with a love that is to fill you with bliss. I want to be within you. This My presence also makes you to My children, I thus have come to My own and they have received Me.... To you who are on this earth as My creatures belongs my whole love, it looks after you and leads you on paths that, admitted, are often stoney and need to be covered laboriously. I’m leading you and yet again, I’m standing at the destination, expecting you. So you thus have My everlasting help, and no one can say having never experienced My help. Though, if the one does not follow My loving urging and My love-call, that one will stay behind and the ones who follow Me will gain a lead by a wide margin.... and they will reach the destination.... I will personally press them on My Father’s heart and lead them into My house.... the child has found its way home to the father from whom it was away a long time by its own fault.... It now has finally returned back because it set foot unto the only path that leads to Me.... the path of love.... However, this path is not easily to walk, it offers no allurements, no feast for the eyes, it is not smooth and to be walked without any effort, but it needs to be conquered step by step, because it leads up steeply and because of the many obstacles that need to be removed before it becomes passable.... But it is passable because of a guide Who constantly walks along your side, supporting and protecting you, supplying you with strength when you’re about to fail. He comforts you full of love, He relieves you of the load you are to carry, He carefully leads you across dangerous cliffs, He is your constant companion. Thus you can reach the destination, provided you have the will for it. But now it is certainly possible for you to direct your look towards the broad path, and this broad path can easily appear desirable for you because it is bordered by joys and pleasures of all kind. The loveliest scenes tempt the wanderer to risk a jump from the narrow, hard passable path to the broad, tempting street where many bustle about in the worldly enjoyments.... The temptation is very big and a great many cannot resist it.... The one leaves the laborious path and will always be helped across to the broad path.... for everywhere there are figures who wave at the one and offer their hand to the one and are happy to be able to lure the wanderer away from the narrow path. The broad way, however, does not lead to the same destination.... it leads downward as certain as the narrow path leads up to the top.

This picture is making it clear to you that the last destination is only achievable by surmounting, that it costs a certain fight with one’s self and the obstacles that put themselves in one’s way. Hence, man can only get to the last destination if the one is serious about it, when the one disregards all the stumbling-blocks, when the one directs his eye nowhere else but to the top where I wave at the one, being the most glorious destination....

(4.6.1952) I then will personally carry the one’s feet away across obstacles, the one then won’t see them but his look will beamingly cling to Me Who stretches His hand towards him, the hand of which he can hold on to, that will lead the one to the end of the path.... How different though is the life of those who walk on different paths.... how many joys and worldly pleasures can the one have, how many wants, sufferings and hardships the other one.... The days present themselves eventful for the one while the other one just sees miseries with one’s self and with others, and the first one will, beside one’s own burden, even carry the burden of the fellow human being, because love drives the one to it. But once the reward will come and this will be just according to how man’s desire was and the way they had furnished evidence for it. Whoever did endeavor spiritually, whoever did not forget Me, in spite of all the hardship, but perseveringly approached Me, will receive spiritual goods. But those who walked the broad path will all of a sudden see that it will terminate in the depth.... The depth will receive them all, for they have been descending unswervingly, the path that certainly may have been started with good intensions but may soon have been abandoned because of the temptations that dispelled all the concerns, because of the taking over of sin where My opponent is able to have an effect upon the souls of the humans. And the broad path has been prepared by him with the aim to ruin the humans.

And thus two powers are attracting you people and you can decide yourselves, you can choose yourselves whom you want to strive for. You can become My children, but you can also remain his children.... This is the decision you people on earth have to make. This decision is an exceedingly responsible one for it is decisive about your whole eternity. That’s why each one of the two rulers sends out their messengers. None of those who walks the broad path will exist who did not meet warners and admonishers, for they stand alongside the path, they know the Lord Who alone can offer salvation and this also inspires them to pass on knowledge to their fellow humans as well and to allure them away from the extremely dangerous broad path.... Only rarely are they successful to influence the wanderer in such a way that they leave the broad path and join the pilgrims on the narrow path. But My love and mercy seizes these and and I make the ascent easy for them, since they did surmount themselves. And to the conquerers a glorious crown will be in store.... they will be the first ones because they possess My whole love of the Father which I also intended to give away to the others, yet had to experience rejection from them.... For whoever walks the broad path walks without Me.... because the love for the world choked every love for Me and the fellow humans and thus the gap cannot be bridged over without love.

Walk the way of the cross of love.... be loving and suffering and carry your earthly weight in humbleness and submission and be aware that you will considerably shorten the path to Me by that, that your soul will become continuously brighter and clearer the higher you mount....

Be aware that, some day in the spiritual kingdom, you will surpass those souls who did not act like you, you will be able to have an effect on those who remained behind in their spiritual development, that you then ought to, and can help them that they, too, get to the light. For I cannot arbitrarily transfer into the kingdom of light those who failed in the earthly life, who did not live according to my will, but let themselves be determined by the one who is My opponent.... Yet, they are not to be lost forever.... And this is your mission in some days to come, to snatch away the souls from the darkness, to help those attain bliss, even though they will never reach the degree of light that a proper path on earth will yield....
