Il motivo della fine spirituale - La brama per la materia

Un essenziale motivo per la discesa spirituale degli uomini è la sempre crescente brama per la materia. E’ come una malattia, che è caduta sugli uomini, che conduce alla morte, è come una catena che diventa sempre più dura, che minaccia la vita degli uomini, perché non si tratta della vita terrena, ma della vita spirituale, la vita dell’anima, che è in pericolo. Perché l’ultragrande desiderio per la materia trova l’esaudimento, come la volontà dell’uomo stesso lo determina, in quale stato si trova l’anima. La dura materia sarà una volta la sua sorte, a cui l’uomo tende con tanto fervore. Non si può far comprendere all’uomo, che il desiderio per la materia, per il possesso terreno, significa una retrocessione, perché tende a qualcosa, che aveva da tempo superato, che significava per la sua anima una dura prigionia, che veniva percepito dall’anima come non-libertà e perciò un tormento, ed ogni liberazione da ciò, ogni progresso nello stato dell’obbligo portava alleggerimento allo spirituale. Ed ora l’uomo tende a ciò da cui l’anima è sfuggita, perché era una catena. Tutto il materiale terreno serve soltanto al corpo, ma all’anima solamente, quando viene superato, quando l’amore dell’uomo stimola all’attività, al dare, al donarsi per amore per il prossimo. Allora la materia può essere anche di utilità per la vita dell’anima, ma deve sempre essere uno staccarsi, non il desiderare dello stesso nella possessione propria. Finché vengono desiderati dei beni terreni, non esiste ancora il desiderio per il bene spirituale oppure soltanto in minima misura, l’anima non può portare nulla di terreno con sé nel Regno spirituale, ma bensì del bene spirituale, che unicamente le prepara uno stato beato. Se gli uomini volessero soltanto riflettere, che già il giorno successivo potrebbe essere terminata la vita terrena e perciò cercherebbero delle provvigioni per il soggiorno nel Regno Spirituale, se volessero riflettere, che ogni possesso terreno è per loro senza valore e ciò che continua a vivere nel Regno spirituale, passa nella massima povertà, che l’uomo sulla Terra causa da sé stesso. Che potrebbe facilmente evitare mediante la raccolta di tesori spirituali sulla Terra, se volesse riflettere, che la vita terrena, anche se dura a lungo, è soltanto un attimo misurato all’Eternità, che però l’anima deve soffrire per ciò che l’uomo ha mancato sulla Terra. Ma gli può sempre e sempre soltanto essere indicata la corsa a vuoto della sua vita, egli può sempre soltanto essere ammonito, di pensare in precedenza e di non sperperare tutta la sua forza di vita terrena in beni, che sono e rimangono per lei totalmente senza valore. Egli è in possesso della libera volontà e dell’intelletto ed in ciò può soltanto essere istruito, ma non costretto, a percorrere la vita, in modo che l’anima entri nel Regno spirituale, sana e forte. Perciò agli uomini viene sempre di nuovo tolto ciò che desiderano ardentemente sulla Terra, a loro verrà sempre di nuovo messa davanti agli occhi la caducità del possesso terreno e beati coloro che riconoscono, che lo scopo della loro vita terrena è un altro che tendere a beni terreni; beati coloro che ripensano ed agiscono per il bene dell’anima, perché saranno ricchi e beati nel Regno spirituale ed ora potranno creare ed agire, perché la loro ricchezza è imperitura.

Reason for the spiritual decline Addiction to matter....

A major cause of people's spiritual decline is the ever-increasing addiction to matter. It is like a disease which has overtaken people, which leads to death, it is like an ever tightening shackle which threatens people's lives, for it is not earthly but spiritual life, the life of the soul, which is in danger. For the overwhelming desire for matter finds fulfillment, just as it is always the human being's own will, that determines the state of the soul. Hard matter will one day be its fate, which man so eagerly strives for. It cannot be made comprehensible to man that the desire for matter, for earthly possession, means a step backwards, for he strives for something which he had long since overcome, which meant a hard imprisonment for his soul, which was felt as lack of freedom and therefore as agony by the soul and every redemption from it, every progress in the bound state brought relief to the spiritual. And now, the human being strives for that from which his soul has fled, because it was a shackle. Everything earthly material only serves the body, but the soul, only then when it is overcome, when it stimulates the love of man to activity, to giving, to expressing oneself out of love for the neighbor. Then matter can also be useful for the life of the soul, but it must always be a detachment from it, not a desire for it in self-interest. As long as earthly goods are desired, the desire for spiritual goods does not exist or only to a very small extent, but the soul cannot take anything earthly with it into the spiritual kingdom, but certainly spiritual goods, which alone prepare a blissful state for it. If only people would consider that the next day can already end their earthly life, and that they would therefore make provisions for their stay in the spiritual kingdom.... if only they would consider that all earthly possessions are worthless to them and that what lives on in the spiritual kingdom passes over in utmost poverty, which is the human being's own fault on earth, and which he could easily have averted by collecting spiritual treasures on earth........ if he would consider that earthly life, even if it lasts a long time, is only a moment compared to eternity, but that the soul has to suffer from what the human being missed on earth.... Yet, he can only be reminded time and again of the idleness of his life, he can only be admonished time and again to think ahead and not to waste all his earthly energy on possessions, which are and remain completely worthless. He is in possession of free will and intellect, and can therefore only be instructed, but not forced to live his life in such a way that his soul will enter the spiritual kingdom in a healthy and powerful way.... This is why people will time and again be deprived of what they so ardently desire on earth, the transience of earthly possessions will time and again be brought to their attention, and blessed are those who realize that their purpose of earthly life is different from striving for earthly possessions; blessed are those who reflect and gather spiritual treasures, blessed are those who create and work for the salvation of the soul, for they will be rich and happy in the spiritual kingdom, and will now be able to create and work, because their wealth is imperishable....
