L’osservare i Comandamenti nello stato dell’obbligo

La costrizione pregiudica il valore di un’azione. Quante volte l’uomo capita nella tentazione di credere di aver eseguito abbastanza il suo dovere, quando ha eseguito una azione, che corrisponde ad una legge prescritta. Questo vale in particolare per tali leggi, che sono state date agli uomini senza autorizzazione di potere e per cui veniva pretesa l’osservazione, per rafforzare con ciò di nuovo il potere terreno. Nulla è più inutile davanti a Dio che l’osservazione di tali leggi nello stato dell’obbligo. E nulla mette più a rischio la salvezza dell’anima dell’uomo che credere, di aver adempiuto il suo dovere. Perché questa credenza impedisce il cosciente tendere alla perfezione. L’uomo si crede su un gradino, che non ha ancora raggiunto per molto tempo, perché crede di aver adempiuto la Pretesa di Dio, ed ha semplicemente seguito il comandamento d’uomo, e questo è senza utilità per l’Eternità. Ogni adempimento del dovere è una specie di stato di costrizione, ben degno di riconoscimento nella via terrena, ma di nessun particolare successo per la vita spirituale, perché Dio esige che ogni modo d’agire abbia per base la libera volontà. L’uomo deve fare tutto senza spinta dall’esterno, e sentirsi indotto dall’interno al suo agire. Tutto ciò che fa, lo deve compiere liberamente e non costretto e non dev’essere indotto al suo agire né attraverso minacce né attraverso promesse. Solo allora questo agire è veramente utile per la sua anima. La Volontà divina soltanto deve bastare pienamente, a far agire ora rispettivamente il figlio terreno, ma voler influenzare attraverso una qualche costrizione oppure pressione sul modo d’agire degli uomini non è la Volontà divina Solo Dio unicamente ha dato dei Comandamenti, ma gli uomini credevano di dover inasprire questi divini Comandamenti, e così presto si è formato una cattiva situazione, che è generalmente minacciosa per i figli terreni, perché si bada nuovamente più all’esaudimento esteriore dei Comandamenti, e questo è in sé del tutto immeritevole. E’ soltanto una formalità alla quale si acconsente, che però è inutile davanti a Dio. Dei servitori di Dio che vogliono essere troppo ferventi hanno con ciò provocato una cattiva situazione, che ha un terribile effetto per l’anima. Si osservi solo una cosa, quanto forte sia rappresentata l’opinione, che soltanto la frequentazione di chiesa portasse l’uomo vicino alla Divinità, e quanto perciò questo è stato fatto come un obbligo all’umanità da parte umana. E come di conseguenza la credenza ha fatto radici, che serve Dio solamente colui, che esegue questo obbligo, ma come proprio andando in chiesa nella costrizione uccide ogni profondo sentimento verso l’eterna Divinità, quando viene eseguita obbligatoriamente ad un determinato tempo e quindi diventa semplice abitudine, che non ha più nulla in comune con (la Parola) “servizio per Dio”. E come contemporaneamente attraverso l’adempimento di questo comandamento, l’uomo viene educato ad un servizio apparente per Dio, dato che tutto ciò che ora fa, è prescrizione, quindi non è spinto a questo nessuna propria volontà o bisogno del cuore di servire veramente Dio. E’ un esercitare senza piano di azioni, che sono soltanto opere d’uomo, oppure disposizioni umane, che sono state inventate sotto il mantello di copertura di “Manifestazione della Volontà divina”, per costringere gli uomini ad inserirsi in una determinata chiesa per ingrandire il suo potere. E si raggiunge proprio il contrario con tali azioni di costrizione, dato che viene eseguito meccanicamente qualcosa, che dev’essere il desiderio più profondo, più interiore, e viene osservata ogni apparenza esteriore, mentre il cuore in ciò può essere vuoto e morto, ed un tal modo d’agire è senza valore davanti a Dio, appunto perché ha per premessa un certo stato di costrizione e perciò non può essere valutato, perché non corrisponde alla Volontà divina.

Obeying the commandments in a state of compulsion....

Compulsion impairs the value of an action. How often is a person tempted to believe that he has fulfilled his duty if he has carried out an action that corresponds to a prescribed law. This is especially true of those laws that were given to men without authority and whose observance was demanded in order to strengthen earthly power. Nothing is more worthless before God than obeying such commandments in a state of compulsion.... And nothing jeopardizes man's salvation more than the belief that he has fulfilled his duty.... For this belief prevents the conscious striving for perfection.... The human being believes himself to be on a level which he has by no means reached, for he believes that he has fulfilled God's demand and has merely complied with human commandments.... and this is of no benefit for eternity. Every fulfilment of duty is a kind of state of compulsion.... certainly worthy of recognition in earthly life but of no noteworthy success for spiritual life, for God demands that every action is based on free will. Man should do everything without external impetus and feel prompted to act from within.... He should carry out everything he does voluntarily and without constraint and not be induced to act by threats or promises.... Only then will these actions be truly beneficial for his soul. Divine will alone should be completely sufficient to allow the earthly child to act accordingly, however, it is not divine will to want to influence people's behaviour through any kind of coercion or pressure. Only God alone has given commandments, yet people believed that they had to tighten these divine commandments and thus a deplorable state of affairs soon developed which is generally threatening for the earthly children, for more attention is paid to the external fulfilment of the commandments again and this is in itself completely without merit.... It is only a form which one fulfils, but which is worthless before God. Servants of God who are too eager to fulfil the commandments have thus created a deplorable state of affairs that has a terrible effect on the soul. Just consider how strongly the view is held that only church attendance brings people closer to God and how it has therefore been made a duty for humanity.... And how therefore the belief has taken root that only he serves God who fulfils this duty.... how, however, church attendance in compulsion kills any deep feeling for the eternal deity if it is carried out according to the rules at the appointed time and thus becomes a mere habit, which no longer has anything in common with (the word) 'service to God'.... And how at the same time, through the fulfilment of this commandment, man is educated to a sham service to God, since everything he now does is prescribed, i.e. no own will or heart's desire drives him to truly serve God. It is a haphazard exercise of actions that are merely the work of men, or human decrees made under the guise of 'expressions of divine will' in order to force people to join a particular church in order to increase its power. And precisely the opposite is achieved with such coercive actions.... something is mechanically carried out that is supposed to be a deepest, inner desire, and all outward appearances are maintained, while the heart can be empty and dead in the process, and such behaviour remains without value before God, precisely because it has a certain state of compulsion as a prerequisite and therefore cannot be valued as such because it does not correspond to the divine will....
