El conocimiento a través del estudio o a través del Espíritu....

A menudo, vosotros, los seres humanos, creéis saber mucho pero, sin embargo, estáis espiritualmente ciegos. Todo conocimiento espiritual solo cobra vida cuando vuestro espíritu está despierto.... Pero antes de eso siegue siendo conocimiento muerto, bienes de pensamiento aprendidos, sin mayor valor que el conocimiento terrenal. Y aunque buscáis a profundizar en aquello, lo que en virtud de vuestro intelecto anheláis alcanzar, jamás podrá llamarse conocimiento espiritual, pues, en primer lugar, es necesario que el espíritu se despierte para poder comprender este conocimiento y hacerlo propio.

No se trata solo del contenido de los bienes de pensamiento, para que pueda considerarse conocimiento espiritual.... se trata únicamente de si el ser humano con el espíritu “despierto”, reflexiona acerca de este conocimiento y lo hace suyo, pues solo entonces podrá hablar de “conocimiento espiritual” que le llena, solo entonces comprenderá también lo que, a pesar de su mayor actividad intelectual, no le resultaba del todo claro antes.

Así pues, dos seres humanos no pueden recorrer los mismos caminos y disponer del mismo conocimiento espiritual, sin embargo, para uno puede ser plenamente comprensible mientras que el otro solo capta el significado literal y no saca ningún beneficio de su conocimiento espiritual. Pues el camino recorrido para adquirir ese conocimiento es lo que determina su valor. Uno lo adquiere externamente a través del estudio y la actividad intelectual diligente, al otro le ha sido transmitido por el espíritu que habita en el alma de cada ser humano. Y este espíritu es parte viva de Dios, por lo tanto, lo que Dios da también debe ser vivo.

El ser humano tiene que ser introducido en un conocimiento que brilla intensamente y que representa una verdadera luz para aquel que antes caminaba en las tinieblas. Y el primero no puede poseer este conocimiento, porque solo ha captado el significado literal; solo ha intentado comprender el significado de las letras sin que este le resulta claro, pues solo es espíritu le puede transmitir la verdadera luz, que solo necesita ser despertado para poder expresarse a través de la voz interior.... Y un espíritu despertado ahora también puede explicar al semejante, algo imposible para un ser humano no despertado, pues solo transmite el vacío significado literal que él mismo ha asimilado.

El ser humano debe despertar el espíritu que lleva dentro de sí; solo entonces podrá hablar de un verdadero conocimiento, de la verdad y de la luz. Y el espíritu solo puede cobrar vida a través del amor; un ser humano debe vivir una vida de amor, fiel a los mandamientos divinos, y de manera irrevocable, a través de esto, su espíritu despertará y le enseñará desde dentro. Pero antes de que este proceso de despertar del espíritu no ha tenido lugar, el ser humano se verá atormentado por dudas si realmente busca la verdad; o bien dispone de ciertas ideas que defiende con fervor como verdad, pero no puede reunir interiormente la convicción para luchar por la verdad pura, porque esta convicción interior también es algo que el espíritu debe infundirle. Y mientras esto no suceda, las dudas silenciosas siempre perturbarán al ser humano, incluso si exteriormente defiende sus ideas como verdad pura.

Pero cuando el espíritu está despierto, el ser humano también sabe que está en la verdad, y esta convicción interior le convierte en un trabajador celoso en la viña del Señor. Y solo tales son los verdaderos siervos que el Padre de casa puede usar en su viña.... son los discípulos a quienes Él dijo: “ Id por todo el mundo y enseñad a todos los pueblos....” Porque solo estos proclamarán el Evangelio del amor según Su voluntad, y solo estos serán escuchados por todos los que son de buena voluntad....

Knowledge through study or through the spirit....

You humans often believe yourselves to be very knowledgeable and yet, you are spiritually blind. For all spiritual knowledge only comes alive when your spirit has awakened.... Prior to this it remains lifeless knowledge, acquired mental concepts which are neither better nor more valuable than earthly knowledge. And even if you try to gain by philosophical means what you cannot fathom by virtue of your intellect alone it can never be called spiritual knowledge, for it first requires the awakening of the spirit to also understand and adopt this knowledge. It is not merely a matter that the contents of the mental concept can be considered spiritual knowledge.... it is entirely a matter as to whether the person thinks this knowledge through with an 'awakened' spirit and makes it his own thoughts, only then will he be able to speak of 'spiritual knowledge' which satisfies him, only then will he also understand what previously was not completely plausible to him despite extensive mental activity. And thus two people cannot take the same paths but nevertheless have the same knowledge, but to one of them it can be fully comprehensible whereas the other only grasps the meaning of the letter and draws no spiritual benefit from his knowledge. For the value of the knowledge depends on the very path he has taken to attain this knowledge.... One person accepts it from external sources through study and diligent intellectual activity, the other receives it from the spirit which dwells in every person's soul. And this spirit is a living part of God, consequently, whatever he gives must also be alive....

The human being must be guided into knowledge which shines brightly and signifies a true light for someone who previously walked in darkness. This knowledge is not at the disposal of the former for he only grasped the meaning of the letter, he has only deliberated the meaning of the letter without becoming enlightened, since true light can only ever be imparted by the spirit, which need merely be awakened in order to express itself through the inner voice.... And an awakened spirit can subsequently also enlighten a fellow human being, which is impossible for someone who is still unenlightened, for he will only pass on the empty meaning of the letter which he has accepted. The human being ought to awaken the spirit within to life, only then will he be able to speak of correct knowledge, of truth and of light. And the spirit can only come alive through love, the human being has to live a life of love according to the divine commandments, then his spirit will irrevocably come alive and instruct him from within. However, as long as the process of awakening the spirit has not occurred people will agonise over questions if they are serious about the truth; or they have a measure of mental knowledge at their disposal which they keenly endorse as truth yet inwardly they cannot find the conviction to advocate the pure truth, because this inner conviction is also imparted to them by the spirit, and as long as this cannot take place a person will always be troubled by slight doubts, even if he outwardly defends his mental knowledge as truth. But once the spirit is awakened, the person will know that it is the truth, and this inner conviction will make him a diligent labourer in the vineyard of the Lord. And these alone are true servants whom the caretaker can use in His vineyard.... these are the disciples to whom He said 'Go ye therefore, and teach all nations....' For only these will proclaim the Gospel of love according to God's will, and these will be listened to by all those of good will....
