Human responsibility.... free will....

You have to take the last step towards perfection in earthly life of your own free will.... Until then you were guided and could not go any other way since you were subject to the law of compulsion, thus you had to carry out everything God determined, whereas now in earthly life God's will is indeed revealed to you but you have to fulfil it completely freely out of yourselves and therefore can also live your life contrary to His will. Thus it is, as it were, given into your own hands what you achieve in earthly life.... And this is a great responsibility for you, for your 'thinking self', which determines your will and actions. But precisely for this reason your perfection is often called into question because you do not respect God's will but let your own will prevail which is opposed to divine will. And yet, everything depends on this short earthly time, for the life afterwards will be in accordance with this earthly lifetime. It can be immeasurably beautiful, a life of eternal bliss, but also immeasurably agonizing when the dark kingdom receives the soul after the death of the body.... And you decide that for yourselves.... As infinitely great as God's love for His creatures is, He nevertheless cannot turn away a fate from them which they have created for themselves in free will.... He cannot influence the human being against his will because perfection would then also be impossible.... He can only ever admonish and warn through His word, but still leaving it up to the human being whether he heeds the divine word at all, whether he follows it. But it is only an exceedingly short time compared to eternity, which the human being should, however, evaluate differently than he does.... Yet the freedom of his will, which he has regained after an infinitely long time of bondage, he very often abuses and yet he cannot be prevented from doing so.... He could reach the highest perfection on earth, for nothing more is required of him than: to overcome his self-love so that he would then be compensated a thousand fold in the kingdom of light and glory for what he sacrificed in earthly life.... He only needed to give very little in order to receive an infinite amount.... But he does not want to believe this and thus enjoys it beforehand. And thus he is content with pleasures which cannot in the least outweigh what he forfeited.... But he cannot be prevented from doing so, for free will is not taken away from him, precisely because it is meant to prove itself, because the human being alone has to decide how to evaluate his earthly life.... He can only be guided, everything can only be presented to him and he can be helped by indications, but it must be left up to him what benefit he derives from his guidance of destiny.... And that God takes care of every human being with love, that He makes it easy for him and offers him all possibilities, that is truly without doubt because He loves all His creations and wants to win them back. But He will never forcibly try to influence people, and therefore there is a great danger that people will fail in their last test of earthly life.... And yet, no human being can say that he did not have the strength for this, for it is abundantly available to every person but it has to be requested or acquired through prayer and activity of love. Prayer, however, presupposes faith in God and loving activity presupposes a change in his self-love.... The human being can do both, for he has the ability to do so within himself, and he only needs to want to, then he will be supported by God in every way. His strength would be increased and a light would also be kindled in him.... But where the will is absent there is no hope, and earthly life has been put back without result. The body has been abundantly provided for but the soul has remained as it was in the beginning of its embodiment as a human being.... Heavenly bliss, which lasts forever, has been forfeited for the sake of worthless goods. And the soul must continue to go through hardship and misery and perhaps also cover its entire course of development once again.... but the human being's will has determined this fate itself....

인간의 책임과 자유의지.

너희는 이 땅의 삶을 사는 가운데 자유의지로 온전하게 되기 위한 마지막 단계를 거쳐야만 한다. 마지막 단계에 도달할 때까지 너희는 인도를 받았고 다른 길을 갈 수 없었다. 왜냐면 너희가 의무의 법의 지배를 받았기 때문이다. 즉 너희는 하나님이 정한 모든 일을 수행해야만 했다. 반면에 이 땅의 삶에서 너희에게 실제 하나님의 뜻이 계시되고 너희가 완전히 자유 가운데 스스로 하나님의 뜻을 성취시켜야만 한다. 그러므로 너희가 또한 하나님의 뜻과 반대되는 삶을 살 수 있다. 그러므로 너희가 이 땅의 삶에서 성취하는 일은 너희 손에 달려있다. 이런 일은 너희에게 큰 책임이고 너희의 의지와 행동을 정하는 생각할 수 있는 자신에게 큰 책임이다.

그러나 바로 이런 이유 때문에 너희가 온전하게 되는 일이 의심스럽게 된다. 왜냐면 너희가 하나님의 뜻을 존중하지 않고 하나님의 뜻에 반대되는 너희 자신의 뜻을 앞세우기 때문이다. 그러나 짧은 이 땅의 시간에 모든 일이 달려 있다. 왜냐면 이 땅의 삶 후의 삶은 그의 이 땅의 삶에 합당하게 될 것이기 때문이다. 사후의 삶이 헤아릴 수 없을 정도로 아름답고 영원히 축복된 삶이 될 수 있다. 그러나 또한 육체가 죽은 후에 혼이 어두움의 나라로 들어가면, 사후의 삶이 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 고통스럽게 될 수 있고 너희 자신이 스스로 사후의 삶을 정하게 된다.

자신의 피조물을 향한 하나님의 사랑은 무한하게 크다. 그러므로 하나님은 피조물들이 자유의지로 스스로 만든 끔찍한 운명을 피하게 해줄 수 있다. 하나님은 사람의 의지에 반하여 행할 수 없다. 왜냐면 그러면 온전하게 되는 일이 마찬가지로 불가능하기 때문이다. 하나님은 항상 단지 자신의 말씀을 통해 훈계하고 경고할 수 있다. 그러나 하나님은 사람이 하나님의 말씀을 지키고 순종할지를 사람에게 자유롭게 맡겨둔다.

그러나 인간은 영원에 비할 때 단지 짧은 시간을 가지고 있다. 그럴지라도 사람은 자신이 행하는 것과 다르게 이런 아주 짧은 시간을 활용해야 한다. 그러나 그가 끝없이 오랜 기간 동안 묶임을 받은 후에 되찾은 의지의 자유를 아주 자주 잘못 사용한다. 그러나 잘못 사용하는 일을 막을 수 없다. 그는 이 땅에서 가장 높은 온전함에 도달할 수 있었다. 왜냐면 그에게 자신의 자기 사랑을 극복하라는 요구 외에 다른 요구를 하지 않기 때문이다. 그가 자신의 자기 사랑을 극복한다면, 그는 이 땅의 삶에서 희생한 것에 대해 빛과 영광의 나라에서 천 배의 보상을 받게 될 것이다.

그가 제한 없이 많은 것을 받기 위해 그는 아주 작은 희생을 하면 된다. 그러나 그는 이를 믿기를 원하지 않고 그러므로 미리 즐기기를 원한다. 그러므로 그는 누리는 일로 만족한다. 이런 누림은 그가 누림으로 인해 잃어버린 것에 비하면 비교할 수 없게 가장 적다. 그러나 그가 그렇게 하는 일을 막을 수 없다. 왜냐면 그에게서 자유의지를 빼앗지 않기 때문이다. 그 이유는 바로 그가 자신을 입증해야 하기 때문이고 인간이 자신의 이 땅의 삶을 어떻게 활용할지 스스로 정해야만 하기 때문이다. 그는 단지 인도를 받을 수 있고 그에게 단지 모든 것을 소개해줄 수 있고 가르침을 통해 그에게 도움을 줄 수 있지만 그러나 자신의 운명에서 어떤 유익을 얻을 지 정하는 일은 그 자신에게 맡겨야만 한다.

하나님은 모든 사람을 사랑으로 돕고 그에게 쉽게 해주고 그에게 모든 가능성을 제공하는 일은 의심할 여지가 없다. 왜냐면 그가 모든 피조물을 사랑하고 그들을 되찾기를 원하기 때문이다. 그러나 그는 사람들에게 강제로 영향을 미치려고 하지 않을 것이다. 그러므로 사람들이 마지막 이 땅의 삶의 시험에서 실패할 큰 위험이 있다. 그러나 어느 누구도 힘이 없었다고 말할 수 없다. 왜냐면 모든 사람에게 힘이 충분하게 제공되기 때문이다. 그러나 이 힘을 요청해야만 하거나 또는 기도와 사랑을 행하는 일을 통해 이 힘을 얻어야만 한다. 기도는 하나님을 믿는 믿음을 전제로 하고 사랑을 행하는 일은 그의 자기 사랑을 변화시키는 일을 전재로 한다.

사람은 기도와 사랑을 행하는 일 두가지를 다 할 수 있다. 왜냐면 그는 자신 안에 그렇게 할 수 있는 힘이 있고 그가 원하기만 하면 되기 때문이다. 그러면 그는 모든 면에서 하나님의 지원을 받게 될 것이고 그의 힘은 증가될 것이고 그 안에 빛이 밝혀지게 될 것이다. 그러나 의지가 없는 사람은 희망이 없고 이 땅의 삶을 결과가 없이 보내게 된다. 몸은 풍성하게 공급을 받지만 그러나 혼은 인간으로 육신을 입기 시작할 때 상태 그대로 머물게 된다. 가치가 없는 재물을 위해 영원히 지속되는 하늘의 축복을 잃게 된다. 혼은 고난과 비참함을 다시 겪어야만 하고 아마도 혼의 모든 성장 과정을 다시 거쳐야만 하게 된다. 그러나 인간의 의지가 스스로 그런 운명을 정한 것이다.
