Free will.... (after talking about "fasting and praying"....)

A community can lead to great blessings but it can also easily fall flat, the will of the individual is always decisive as to whether spiritual success is achieved. Anyone who voluntarily tries to shape himself in such a way that I Myself can take abode in him, I will also always reveal Myself to him for the blessing of those around him who have the same will to make contact with Me again. Each person is solely responsible for himself, for his soul, and therefore no person can be spared the work on his soul, and this work consists of discarding faults and weaknesses and acquiring the virtues which stamp him into a divine being. This work of the soul cannot be done mechanically through the performance of formal actions which, for example, lack love.... On the other hand, success can be increased if the human being carries out planned self-education, if he consciously fights against all kinds of cravings and vices, if he renounces everything that is a danger to him and does that which brings him closer to Me, if he is celibate and avoids that which, as part of My adversary, can also hand him over to the adversary. Anyone who has much cause to sin should avoid these occasions; anyone who fears danger should avoid it if he feels too weak to be able to offer resistance.... But anyone who only practices love again and again will become strong in spirit and also be able to cope with every temptation. For love cannot be replaced, no matter how much a person mortifies himself.... Love is the solvent of the spirit and its strength, and where love is present every desire is also displaced, the 'ego' recedes and the fellow human being comes to the fore, and the strength of love works miracles which now understandably also have the strength of faith as their reason, which can be so great in people of open will that My spirit is prompted to express strength in excess. Everything is good that leads to self-shaping towards love.... The person who can renounce himself fights his self-love and transforms it into love for his fellow human being, to whom he would like to supply that which he renounces himself in order to help him.... Then love underlies self-emptying, and then it is beneficial for the individual's spiritual development, then the human being lives in love, then he voluntarily renounces that which is still indispensable to the other. And I bless him for it.... but I also bless every spiritual striving, every proof of will to live to please Me. For anyone who strives towards Me will also irrevocably reach Me, no matter which path he takes. The will towards Me is the guarantee that he will reach Me. Therefore it is up to every person in which way he fulfils My commandments of love for Me and his neighbour if only his firm will is to fulfil them and he therefore unites with Me in prayer.... Then I will always meet the supplicant, then My spirit will be active in him and his activity will always be recognizable according to the degree of love, according to the strength of love which fills the person who wants to work for Me and for My kingdom....

자유 의지. (금식과 기도에 관한 대화를 한 후에 받음)

공동체는 큰 축복을 줄 수 있지만 그러나 쉽게 무너질 수 있고, 영적인 성공이 이뤄졌는 지 여부는 항상 개인의 의지가 결정적이다. 자발적으로 이제 나 자신이 그 안에 거할 수 있게 하는 방식으로 자신을 형성하려고 노력하는 사람에게 나는 또한 항상 그의 주변에 있는 사람들과 또한 나와 연결을 이루려는 같은 의지를 가진 사람들의 축복을 위해 나 자신을 계시한다. 모든 사람이 자신에 대한, 자신의 혼에 대한 전적인 책임이 있다. 그러므로 어느 누구에게도 자신의 혼에 대한 작업을 면제해줄 수 없고, 혼에 대한 작업은 실수와 약점을 버리고, 스스로 그를 신적인 존재로 각인되게 하는 덕성을 얻는 일이다.

이런 혼에 대한 작업은 예를 들어 사랑이 없는 사람이 형식적인 일을 행함으로 기계적으로 수행될 수 없다. 반면에 체계적인 자신을 양육하고, 의식적으로 온갖 욕망과 모든 죄에 맞서 싸우고, 그에게 위험을 의미할지라도 모든 욕망과 죄를 버리고, 자신을 나에게 더 가깝게 만드는 일을 행하고, 자신이 절제하고, 그가 내 대적자의 일부로서 그를 대적자에게 빠지게 할 수 있는 모든 일을 피하면, 더 큰 성공을 할 수 있다. 죄를 지을 많은 동기가 있는 사람은 이런 동기를 피해야 하고, 사람이 위험을 두려워하고, 자신이 저항할 수 없을 정도로 아주 연약하다고 느낀다면, 그는 위험을 피해야 한다.

그러나 사랑을 항상 또 다시 반복해서 행하는 사람은 영이 강해질 것이고, 또한 모든 유혹에 대처할 수 있게 될 것이다. 사랑은 대체할 수 있는 것은 없다. 사람이 아무리 고행을 수행할지라도, 사랑이 영과 영의 힘을 자유롭게 하는 수단이다. 사랑이 있는 곳에 모든 욕망이 물러나고, 자신을 뒷자리를 차지하고 이웃을 우선하게 되고, 사랑의 힘이 기적을 일으킨다. 당연히 열린 의지를 가진 사람들에게 아주 크게 될 수 있고, 내 영이 넘치기 힘을 표현하게 만드는 믿음의 힘은 사랑의 힘에 근거를 두고 있다.

자신을 형성하게 하고, 사랑으로 이끄는 모든 일이 좋은 일이다. 자신을 포기할 수 있는 사람이 자신의 자기사랑에 대항해 싸우고, 자기사랑을 이웃에게 베풀기 원하는 이웃을 향한 사랑으로 변화시키고, 이웃을 돕기 위해 자신의 것을 희생한다. 그러면 이런 자신의 것을 희생하는 일은 사랑에 기초하고, 개인의 영적 성장에 큰 축복이 된다. 그러면 그는 사랑 안에서 살고, 이웃을 위해 이웃에게 아직 없어서는 안될 것을 자발적으로 포기하고, 나는 그런 일로 인해 그를 축복한다. 그러나 나는 또한 모든 영적인 추구와 나를 기쁘게 하는 삶을 살려는 의지를 증명하는 일을 축복한다. 나를 추구하는 사람은 그가 어떤 길을 가든 피할 수 없게 나에게 다가 온다.

나를 향한 의지가 나에게 도달하는 일을 보장한다. 그러므로 사람이 나와 이웃을 향한 내 사랑의 계명을 성취하는 일이 단지 그의 확고한 의지이면, 그가 어떤 방식으로 내 계명을 성취시킬지, 이로써 기도로 나와 연결을 이룰지는 각 사람에게 달려 있다. 그러면 나는 항상 구하는 사람에게 다가 가고, 내 영이 그 안에서 역사하고, 사랑의 정도에 따라 나를 위해 일하고 내 나라를 위해 일하기 원하는 사람을 채우는 사랑의 힘에 따라 그의 역사를 항상 깨달을 수 있게 될 것이다.
