Mentally blind people cannot tolerate sudden light....

People languishing in spiritual darkness cannot tolerate sudden light and cover their eyes when they are struck by a ray of light.... A completely faithless person cannot grasp the pure truth if it is offered to him unprepared, for spiritual knowledge is an area which has to be consciously entered, i.e., only the will to experience it makes him capable of receiving it. However, anyone who walks completely in the dark obviously has his mind turned towards the world and his eyes are focussed on it and receive no other light than that which shines towards them from the earthly world.

Before the human being recognises the truth he must have come to terms with it, but this also requires his thoughts to be directed towards this spiritual realm. An unbeliever can certainly also listen when he is given information about spiritual things, he can then be touched by certain thoughts, but now his will decides whether he persists with these thoughts, and whether they impress him so much that he pursues them further and finally allows himself to be captivated by them. Then the spiritual eye slowly gets used to looking into the light.... and then its rays can become brighter and brighter without blinding and confusing the person. But he who stands in the light cannot understand that he has ever preferred darkness, and therefore he himself eagerly endeavours to bring light into the darkness and to enlighten people wherever he can.... But it is far worse wanting to bring the truth to a person who is completely filled with erroneous teachings. This person is, as it were, in a constant flash of light that is constantly fading and is therefore all the more glaring. However, such a bright flash of light is followed by such deep darkness that the person can no longer find a way out. But he is also not satisfied with a soft glow of light, he fails to recognise the true light, he passes by the pure truth because he does not look for it where it can be found, and because his spiritual eye has no power of sight, for the deceptive light destroys it, just as the pure truth, the divine light, strengthens the eye and makes it able to recognise everything in the darkness as well as in the kingdom of light, and thus there is no wall for the spiritual eye which it could not penetrate. The deepest wisdom can be grasped by the person who stands in the right light of eternal truth. But he must be a believer and full of love.... The flame of love shall spread a bright glow, a light which shines brightly through the darkness and which always allows a beneficial power to be felt where a still blind eye endeavours to see.... Yet the light must not suddenly be brought to this blind person in spirit.... Loving understanding for his spiritual weakness, for his blind state must bring loving help.... Every now and then a ray of light and love must touch him, which will then surely tear the veil from his eyes, and the initial twilight shall now prove to the person that the right light can be found in the acceptance of truth, and he himself will long for truth....

영적인 맹인은 갑작스런 빛을 감당할 수 없다.

영의 어두움 속에서 고통당하는 사람들은 갑작스런 빛을 견딜 수 없고, 빛의 광선을 받으면, 그들은 그들의 눈을 가린다. 완전히 믿지 않는 사람이 준비가 되지 않은 상태에 있는 그에게 순수한 진리를 제공하면, 그는 순수한 진리를 파악할 수 없다. 왜냐면 영적인 지식은 의식적으로 들어가야만 하는 영역이기 때문이다. 즉 영적인 지식을 체험하려는 의지가 비로소 그가 영적인 지식을 받아드릴 수 있게 하기 때문이다. 그러나 완전히 어두움 속에서 사는 사람의 생각은 분명하게 세상을 향하고, 그의 눈은 세상에 맞춰져 있고, 다른 빛을 받아들이지 않고, 단지 이 땅의 세상에서 그들에게 비추는 빛을 받아들인다.

사람이 진리를 깨닫기 전에 그는 진리를 비판적으로 깊게 생각해봐야만 한다. 이를 위해 영적인 영역을 생각하는 일이 필요하다. 믿지 않는 사람도 영적인 일에 대한 설명을 받았을 때 귀담아 들을 수 있다. 그러면 그는 특정한 생각에 감동을 받을 수 있고, 그러면 이제 그의 의지는 그가 그런 생각을 지속할지 여부를 정하고, 특정한 생각이 그에게 아주 감동을 주어 그가 계속해서 생각하고 결과적으로 특정한 생각에 자신이 사로잡히게 한다. 그러면 영적인 눈이 서서히 빛을 보는 일에 익숙해진다. 그러면 이제 사람의 눈을 부시게 하거나 혼란스럽게 하지 않고 빛의 광선이 더 밝고 더 빛나게 될 수 있다.

그러나 빛 안에 서게 된 사람은 자신이 어두움을 선호한 적이 있었다는 것을 이해할 수 없게 된다. 그러므로 그는 스스로 그가 단지 할 수 있는 모든 곳에서 어두움 속으로 빛을 주고, 설명해주는 일을 하기 위해 열심히 노력한다. 그러나 잘못된 가르침으로 전적으로 모두 가득찬 사람에게 진리를 전하기 원하는 일은 이보다 훨씬 더 힘든 일이다. 그런 사람은 어떤 의미에서 계속해서 번쩍이고 항상 또 다시 사라지는 그러므로 더욱 번쩍이는 빛 가운데 거하고, 그런 번쩍이는 빛 뒤에 사람이 더 이상 어두움을 벗어날 방법을 찾을 수 없는 아주 깊은 어두움이 뒤 따른다.

그러나 그는 또한 부드러운 빛에 만족하지 않고, 진정한 빛을 오해하고, 순수한 진리를 지나친다. 왜냐면 그가 순수한 진리를 찾을 수 있는 곳에서 순수한 진리를 찾지 않고, 그의 영적인 눈이 볼 수 있는 능력이 없기 때문이다. 왜냐면 거짓 빛이 시력을 손상시키기 때문이다. 반면에 순수한 진리인 하나님의 빛은 눈을 튼튼하게 하고, 빛의 나라뿐 아니라 어두움 속에서도 모든 것을 깨달을 수 있게 한다. 그러므로 영적인 눈으로 통과할 수 없는 벽이 없다.

영원한 진리의 올바른 빛 안에 거하는 사람은 가장 깊은 지혜를 이해할 수 있다. 그러나 그가 믿음을 가지고 있어야만 하고 사랑으로 충만해야만 한다. 사랑의 불이 밝은 빛을 퍼뜨릴 것이고, 빛이 어두움을 통과해 모든 곳을 비출 것이다. 눈이 먼 눈으로 보기 위해 노력하는 곳에서는 항상 행복하게 하는 힘을 느낄 수 있다. 그러나 영적으로 눈 먼 사람에게 갑자기 빛을 가까이에서 비춰져서는 안 되고, 그의 영적인 연약함과 영적으로 눈이 먼 상태에 대한 사랑으로 충만한 이해심이 사랑의 충만한 도움을 줘야만 하고, 때때로 빛과 사랑의 광선이 그에게 임해야만 한다. 그러면 눈을 가리고 있는 천이 확실하게 사라질 것이고, 초기의 황혼의 빛이 이제 진리를 받아들이는 가운데 올바른 빛을 찾을 수 있다는 것을 그에게 증명하고 그러면 그는 스스로 진리를 갈망하게 된다.
