Darkness of the spirit.... work of love.... distance from God....

The further people distance themselves from God, the darker their spirit is and the less able they are to muster the understanding for spiritual teachings. And the degree of distance from God is always determined by the degree of love they possess. Where love, the divine in the human being, is not developed, God Himself cannot work with His spirit, therefore there can be no light and no power of knowledge. It is difficult to proclaim the gospel there, for it echoes in people's ears and does not reach the heart, it sounds to them like an empty sound because the heart, being incapable of love, rejects it and only the ear hears it and thus it remains without impression. Once such a person has accomplished a deed of love and is subsequently given spiritual instructions he will already be willing to accept them. And that is why the human being should first be stimulated to work with love through good example, by bringing fellow human beings in need of help closer to him, by drawing his attention to hardship and misery and urgent help. As soon as compassion begins to stir, the spark of love is not completely buried, and it can flare up with the activity of love, which can then make him inwardly happy and move him to further works of love. A person who has accomplished a deed of love is now also soft-hearted for a short time, and then spiritual instructions or conversations can fall on good ground. But a person who is devoid of all love, no matter how highly developed his intellect, will never confess or even think about it. He would not be able to recognize spiritual truths as such because this requires the heart, not just the intellect. The distance from God will become ever greater the closer the end comes because the activity of love will also become ever weaker where ego love predominates and ego love determines people's thinking and wanting. And it will become increasingly darker on earth, for the spiritual light will only break forth in a few places, and no other light can conquer the darkness than only pure truth, which has its origin in God, the eternal light. Therefore, it is the truth which enlightens the human spirit and which alone should be preached to people. Truth alone is able to convince where there is an earnest will to find enlightenment.... Truth signifies light and the power of realization for the one who seeks the truth. For he already turns his face towards God and will also learn to recognize Him through the truth imparted to him, whereas this remains incomprehensible to the one who does not desire it because he still turns his back on God and is therefore unable to recognize anything divine. Darkness holds him captive and will not release him in the beyond as long as the soul does not try to escape it of its own accord. But then it is considerably more difficult to reach the light, although it is not impossible. For the soul's defensive will is widely recognizable and prevents the spiritual light from becoming effective until the soul's desire for light is awakened, which, however, can take an infinitely long time because free will is also respected in the beyond and only love is valued there as well....

L’oscurità dello spirito - L’agire d’amore - Allontanamento da Dio

Più gli uomini si allontanano da Dio, più il loro spirito è oscurato e meno possono avere la comprensione per gli insegnamenti spirituali. Ed il grado della lontananza da Dio determina sempre il grado dell’amore che possiedono. Dove non è sviluppato l’amore, il Divino nell’uomo, nemmeno Dio Stesso può agire con il Suo spirito, quindi non vi può essere nessuna Luce e nessuna Forza di conoscenza. E’ difficile predicarvi il Vangelo, perché echeggia oltre alle orecchie degli uomini e non penetra fino nel cuore, per loro suona come una eco vuota, perché il cuore che non è capace di amare, lo respinge e lo sente solo l’orecchio e quindi rimane senza impressione. Appena un tale uomo ha compiuto un atto d’amore ed in seguito a questo gli vengono dati degli insegnamenti spirituali, sarà già volenteroso di accettarli. E perciò dapprima l’uomo dev’essere stimolato all’agire d’amore tramite il buon esempio, portandogli vicino dei prossimi bisognosi d’aiuto, guidando la sua attenzione alla miseria ed il bisogno ed all’urgente aiuto. Appena comincia a muoversi in lui la compassione, allora la scintilla dell’amore non è del tutto coperta e può divampare con l’azione dell’amore, che poi lo renderà interiormente felice e lo può stimolare ad ulteriori opere d’amore. Un uomo che ha compiuto un’azione d’amore, per breve tempo è ora anche di cuore tenero, ed allora gli insegnamenti o conversazioni spirituali possono cadere su un suolo buono. Ma un uomo che è privo d’amore, non si dichiarerà mai per questo oppure non rifletterà nemmeno mai, per quanto possa essere di intelletto altamente sviluppato. Non sarebbe in grado di riconoscere le Verità spirituali come tali, perché per questo ci vuole il cuore, non solo l’intelletto. La lontananza da Dio diventerà sempre più grande, più si avvicina la fine, perché anche l’attività d’amore diventa sempre più debole, dove predomina l’amore dell’io e questo determina il pensare ed il volere degli uomini. E sulla Terra diventerà sempre più buio, perché la Luce spirituale irromperà solo in pochi punti e nessun’altra Luce può vincere l’oscurità che solo la pura Verità che ha la sua Origine in Dio, dell’eterna Luce. E’ quindi la Verità che illumina lo spirito dell’uomo e solo questa dev’essere predicata agli uomini. Solo la Verità può convincere, dove esiste la seria volontà di trovare il chiarimento. La Verità significa Luce e Forza di conoscenza per colui che cerca la Verità. Perché costui rivolge il suo volto già a Dio, ed imparerà anche a riconoscerLo tramite la Verità trasmessagli, mentre questa rimane incompresa per colui che non la desidera, perché volge ancora le spalle a Dio e perciò non può riconoscere il Divino. L’oscurità lo tiene catturato e non lo lascerà nemmeno libero nell’aldilà, finché l’anima non cerca di sfuggirle per propria spinta. Ma allora è notevolmente più difficile giungere alla Luce, benché non sia impossibile. Perché la volontà di rifiuto che l’anima porta con sé di là, è riconoscibile da lontano ed ostacola lo spirituale della Luce, di diventare efficace, così a lungo, finché il desiderio per la Luce non diventa una volta viva nell’anima, che però può durare un tempo infinitamente lungo, perché la libera volontà viene rispettata anche nell’aldilà ed anche là viene valutato solo l’amore.
