Serious reminder to remember death....

None of you humans knows how long you will live on earth, none of you knows when the hour of your recall will come, and none of you knows whether you still have the time to prepare for your end. And you humans should always remember that you could already stand before your judge tomorrow, that He will demand an account from you for your earthly way of life, for the use of your will, for your actions and omissions.... And you should also imagine the consequences of your conduct on earth and therefore seriously endeavour to live in such a way that you need not fear the hour of your recall, your last day. The fact that you are allowed to live on earth is a grace which you should make use of or you will bitterly regret it, for you can gain an infinite amount on earth but also lose an infinite amount. You have the strength to work for a blissful life in eternity, but if you use this strength wrongly, so that you only want to make your earthly life beautiful, then your recall from earth will be a misfortune for you, because you will lose everything you own and will not be able to display any of the possessions which are of value in the world of the beyond. Then you will never be able to return to make up for what you have missed, you will have to create a bearable fate for yourselves with great difficulty because you lack the strength which was abundantly at your disposal on earth. You are still alive and indifferently ignore indications of your end, admonitions and warnings, the life of your body makes you secure but you don't think about the life after death.... Seriously consider the hour of your departure from this earth and ask yourselves what you may take with you, ask yourselves what spiritual possessions you have acquired. Will you have much to show for it? Will the thought of death frighten you? Will you be able to stand before your judge without fear because you have lived according to His will? Seriously consider your situation and change it if it does not seem satisfactory to you, for there is not much time left and no one knows when he will be called away.... None of you can prolong his life by just one hour when his time is up, but each of you can achieve it that there is no hour of death for him but only an entrance into eternal life.... Everyone can gather riches on earth which he takes with him, which are imperishable and guarantee him a life in the kingdom of the beyond.... and what is therefore possible for you, that you should try to achieve, for on the other side it will be unspeakably difficult for you to make up for the shortfall you have through your own fault if you don't recognize your purpose of earthly life, if you only work for the life of the body but not for the life of the soul on earth.... Use every day that is still given to you, for all too soon the hour of death will come for you when you stand before your judge....

죽음을 기억하라는 심각한 경고.

너희 중 어느 누구도 그가 이 땅에서 얼마나 오래동안 살지를 모른다. 아무도 자신이 부름 받는 시간이 언제 올지 모르고, 아무도 자신의 마지막을 준비할 시간이 있는 지를 모른다. 너희의 인간은 너희가 내일 너희의 재판관 앞에 설 수 있다는 것을 항상 기억해야 한다. 재판관이 너희의 이 땅의 삶과, 너희의 의지를 사용한 일에 대해, 너희가 행한 일과 하지 않은 일에 대해 너희에게 책임을 요구한다는 것을 기억해야 한다. 너희는 또한 너희가 이 땅의 삶의 결과를 생각해야 하고 그러므로 너희가 부름 받는 시간인 너희의 마지막 날을 두려워할 필요가 없도록 살기 위해 진지하게 노력해야 한다.

너희가 이 땅에서 살 수 있게 된 일은 은혜이고, 너희는 이 은혜를 활용해야 한다. 그렇지 않으면 너희는 몹시 후회할 것이다. 왜냐면 너희가 이 땅에서 말할 수 없게 많은 것을 얻을 수 있지만 그러나 또한 말할 수 없게 많은 것을 잃을 수 있기 때문이다. 너희는 영원 가운데 축복된 삶을 위해 일할 수 있는 힘을 가지고 있다. 그러나 너희는 이 힘을 잘못 사용하여 단지 이 땅의 삶을 아름답게 만들기를 원한다. 그러면 너희가 이 땅에서 부름을 받는 일이 너희에게 불행이다. 왜냐면 너희가 소유한 모든 것을 잃기 때문이고, 저 세상에서 가치가 있는 어떤 것도 보여줄 수 없기 때문이다. 그러면 너희는 너희가 놓친 일을 보충하기 위해 절대로 돌아갈 수 없고, 너희는 큰 어려움 가운데 너희에게 견딜만 한 운명을 만들어야만 한다. 왜냐면 너희가 이 땅에서 풍부하게 사용할 수 있었던 힘이 부족하기 때문이다.

너희는 아직 살고 있고, 무관심하게 너희의 마지막에 대한 가르침과 훈계와 경고를 무시하고 육체의 생명을 돌봐 확실하게 만들지만 그러나 죽음 후의 삶에 대해 생각하지 않는다. 너희가 이 땅에서 떠날 때를 진지하게 생각해보라. 너희가 무엇을 가지고 갈 수 있는 지 자신에게 질문해보라. 너희가 얻은 영적인 재물이 무엇인지 자문해보라. 너희가 많은 영적인 재물을 보여줄 수 있느냐? 죽음에 대한 생각이 너희를 놀라게 하느냐? 너희가 재판관의 뜻대로 살았기 때문에 두려움 없이 재판관 앞에 설 수 있겠느냐? 너희의 상황을 진지하게 생각하고 너희에게 만족스럽지 않은 경우 너희의 상황을 바꾸라. 왜냐면 시간이 많이 남지 않았고 자신이 언제 부름을 받을지 아무도 모르기 때문이다.

너희 중 어느 누구도 시간이 다되었을 때 단 한 시간이라도 너희의 생명을 연장할 수 없다. 그러나 너희 모두가 이 시간이 자신에게 죽음의 시간이 아니라 영원한 생명으로 들어가는 시간이 되게 할 수 있다. 모두가 이 땅에서 저 세상으로 가지고 갈 수 있고 소멸되지 않고, 저 세상에서 그에게 생명을 보장하는 재물을 모을 수 있다. 너희가 이룰 수 있는 일을 성취시키려고 시도하라. 왜냐면 너희가 이 땅의 삶의 목적을 깨닫지 못하고, 너희가 이 땅에서 단지 육체의 생명을 위해 일하고 혼의 생명을 위해 일하지 않는다면, 저 세상에서 너희 자신의 잘못으로 인한 결점을 보상하는 일이 말할 수 없게 너희에게 어려울 것이기 때문이다. 너희에게 아직 주어진 매일을 활용하라. 왜냐면 너희가 재판관 앞에 서게 되는 죽음의 시간이 아주 빨리 오기 때문이다.
