Effectiveness of divine truth only after overcoming the world....

For people, the world is the real, the spiritual the unreal, to which they pay no attention. In the world of appearances they see reality, and they are therefore accessible to everything that comes from the world or leads to it. The spiritual realm, however, is a dreamland for them, which touches them dimly from time to time, but is not taken seriously. And thus divine truth is only valuable and significant to the person who has already broken with the earthly world, who has recognized it as a world of appearances and no longer desires it. This is why so few people can be given the truth, because the world still holds most people captive and even the spiritually striving person is often plagued by doubts when he also turns to the world. Divine truth can make a person infinitely happy if it is the only good he finds desirable; therefore it fills the human being's heart and no longer leaves room for thoughts of the world. But before this state occurs in the human being, the intellect must assert itself, i.e., it must simultaneously incline towards truth with the heart, profess it, and this can only occur when the earthly does not excessively claim the intellect, when it can turn to what the heart strives for. The human being is in a completely closed area when he is concerned with spiritual things, then access to the world is blocked and the human being's soul is happy, even if the human being himself is unaware of it. Then divine strength can have an effect on the soul which, however, immediately diminishes when the world approaches him again and he pays attention to it. Therefore, whoever wants to connect with God must withdraw into his little chamber.... he must seek solitude or keep quiet contemplation within himself.... he must switch off the world, otherwise the spiritual kingdom cannot exert its effect on him. But in the midst of the world he will not find what is good for his heart which longs for God. Admittedly, the human being can also enter into silence in the midst of the world, listen within himself, but then he is only physically in the world, his soul, however, withdraws into spiritual realms, then the human being himself is stronger than the earthly world, then he does not desire it but puts the spiritual world before the earthly one, and then he will also succeed in rising into spiritual spheres at any time, even if his body is still bound to earth.

In order to be able to spread and represent the pure truth, this preceding must be taken into account. It is extremely difficult to introduce worldly people to divine truth because it seems so unreal to them and the worldly person in his sobriety rejects what is not tangible or visible to him. And it often takes a long time for the divine word to become effective in such a person, until he mentally engages with it and thereby puts the world aside. And it is difficult to preach about the end of the world, about the last judgement and the great spiritual hardship to people who are completely worldly minded and have little contact with the spiritual kingdom. The preacher will always appear to them as a fantasist, and he will not feel the effect of truth until he ventures into spiritual realms himself and allows these spheres to have an effect on him. Then he will separate the spiritual and the earthly world, and only then will he be accessible to the pure truth from God and it will make his soul profoundly happy....

L'efficacité de la Vérité divine apparait seulement après avoir vaincu le monde

Le monde est pour les hommes ce qui est vrai, mais ils ne donnent aucune considération au spirituel, ils le considèrent comme irréel. Ils voient la réalité dans le monde de l'apparence, et donc ils sont aussi accessibles pour tout ce qui provient du monde ou bien qui mène à lui. Mais le Royaume spirituel est pour eux un pays de rêves qui les touche certes parfois comme dans un rêve, mais il n'est pas pris au sérieux. Et ainsi même la Vérité divine est précieuse et significative seulement pour l'homme qui a déjà rompu avec le monde terrestre, qui l'a reconnu comme un monde d'apparence et ne le désire plus. Pour cette raison on peut apporter la Vérité à bien peu d'hommes, parce que le monde tient encore captifs la plupart d’entre eux, ainsi qu’à ceux qui tendent spirituellement mais qui sont souvent tourmentés par le doute lorsqu’ils se tournent encore vers le monde. La divine Vérité peut rendre infiniment heureux lorsqu’elle semble désirable à l'homme comme unique Bien ; donc elle remplit le cœur de l'homme et il ne fait plus de place à aucune pensée du monde. Mais avant que cet état apparaisse dans l'homme, l'esprit doit lutter, il doit se plier à la Vérité, en même temps avec le cœur il doit se déclarer pour celle-ci, et celle-ci peut surgir seulement lorsque le terrestre n'occupe pas outre mesure l'esprit, lorsqu’il peut se tourner vers ce à quoi tend le cœur. L'homme se trouve dans une région totalement isolée lorsqu’il s'occupe avec des choses spirituelles, alors l'accès au monde est barré, et l'âme de l'homme est heureuse, même si pour l'homme cela est involontaire. Alors la Force divine peut agir sur l'âme mais cela peut vite diminuer lorsque le monde s'approche de nouveau et s’il lui donne son attention. Donc celui qui veut s’unir avec Dieu doit se retirer dans sa chambrette, il doit chercher la solitude ou bien tenir une introspection silencieuse en lui-même, il doit exclure le monde, autrement le Royaume spirituel ne peut pas exercer son effet sur lui. Mais dans le milieu du monde il ne trouvera pas ce qui fait du bien à son cœur qui cherche Dieu. Certes, même au milieu du monde l'homme peut entrer dans le silence, écouter en lui, alors il est seulement corporellement dans le monde, mais son âme se retire dans des régions spirituelles, alors l'homme lui-même est plus fort que le monde terrestre, il ne le désire pas, mais il place le monde spirituel devant le monde terrestre, et alors il réussira à s'élever à chaque instant dans les sphères spirituelles, même lorsque son corps est encore enchaîné à la Terre :

Pour pouvoir maintenant répandre et représenter la pure Vérité, il doit être tenu compte de ce qui précède. Il est outre mesure difficile de guider les hommes mondains dans la Vérité divine, parce que celle-ci leur semble trop irréelle et l'homme mondain refuse dans son objectivité ce qui n'est pas tangible ou visible. Et il faut souvent beaucoup de temps jusqu'à ce que la Parole divine devienne efficace dans un tel homme, jusqu'à ce qu’il s'en occupe mentalement et pour qu’en faisant cela il fasse reculer le monde. Et il est difficile de prêcher la fin du monde, l’Ultime Jugement et la grande misère spirituelle des hommes qui sont totalement engagés dans le monde et ont peu de contact avec le Royaume spirituel. Pour eux le prédicateur semblera toujours plein de fantaisie, et il ne sentira pas l'effet de la Vérité sur eux-mêmes tant qu’eux-mêmes n’osent pas entrer dans les régions spirituelles et laisser agir sur eux ces sphères. Alors le monde spirituel est séparé du monde terrestre, et seulement alors l’homme est accessible à la pure Vérité de Dieu, et cela rendra son âme profondément heureuse.
