Conflict of body and soul.... cooperation of them....

What serves the best of the soul will usually not be felt very pleasantly by the body as long as the soul and the body are in conflict with each other. For the body demands what is detrimental to the soul, but helps itself to greater well-being. And if the soul is to progress in its development, much must be taken from the body so that the soul is not hindered in its striving. So, to a certain extent, the thinking, feeling and willing must be forcibly diverted from earthly things, i.e., the body must be so thoughtful with renunciations and disappointments of all kinds that the soul distances itself in its thinking from things which please the body and can devote itself to its actual task, the work on itself. The soul finds it difficult of its own accord, therefore it is helped by God insofar as the human being's fate in life has many disappointments in store, thus life approaches the human being in such a way that bodily desire is sparsely provided for, that earthly goods and pleasures are lost to it and that thereby the soul has the opportunity to progress, thus to learn to overcome earthly things and to develop progressively. On the other hand, it is different when soul and body strive for higher development, when the body always gives in to the soul's desire, thus, as it were, participates in the work of change, which is the purpose of earthly life. Then the renunciations and disappointments are no longer so needed and can therefore also be spared the body; for as soon as both.... soul and body.... strive towards God in accordance with the spirit's desire in them, they will never let themselves be diverted from this striving, even though the world approaches them with its demands or enticements. They are won over for the spiritual kingdom, the spirit in them is too powerful and they can live life without worrying, they no longer fall back into the desire for mere earthly possessions but distance themselves from them more and more despite possessing them, for the spiritual possessions are more desirable to them once they have received them. Disappointments and sufferings of all kinds are therefore always a warning of a slackening in spiritual striving, or they should contribute to increased activity of the will, so that the work on oneself is carried out with the greatest intensity, because greater demands are placed on the human being in the field of redeeming activity. This work requires perseverance and self-denial, and the human being has to be educated to disregard the body but to shape the life of the soul such that it completely corresponds to God's will, that God's spirit can become active in order to make him capable of the spiritual work which is redeeming. However, if the body is ready for the same work, then neither joys nor sufferings of the soul are an obstacle to higher development, then the divine spirit's influence on the soul is so strong that it can never ever be diminished by impressions. The spiritual striving will always be in the foreground and never diminish, for the soul is completely controlled by the spirit within itself, nor does it have the will to withdraw from its influence, on the contrary, it draws the body into the spiritual realm, it determines it to completely join the spirit's urging, thus to comply with everything the spirit demands of the soul. And thus soul and body are now subordinate to the spirit in themselves, and this results in a faster maturing and thus also a special ability to be active for God, thus to take part in the redemption of the bound. However, the human being is in no way forced to do so but the will is placed into him, it is stimulated by everlasting spiritual instructions which reach the human being in the form of thoughts and which are again supported or affirmed by the divine word which is offered as evidence of divine love and omnipotence to people who want to receive and pass it on. For this word will be in accordance with the thoughts of the one who consciously works on himself. And the latter will be accepted by God as a labourer for His vineyard, his earthly life will now be guided and his spiritual activity blessed, and he will never ever be released from God's service. He will find support from people who are of the same spirit, he will also be supplied with earthly strength by his life unfolding in such a way that he will not be hindered in his striving. Thus earthly events can also approach him without seriously endangering him spiritually once he has offered himself to God for service. Then his body will also no longer be self-centred but always and in every way submit itself to the soul and the spirit, he will listen in joy and suffering to the inner voice through which God's spirit makes itself known, for he recognizes his purpose of earthly life and is willing to contribute to the redemption of the bound. Thus the voice of the spirit will penetrate and can never be drowned out by earthly sufferings or joys, and the spiritual striver will therefore also be able to experience the latter without seriously endangering his ascent development....

Conflicto de cuerpo y alma.... Cooperación de aquellos....

Lo que sirve para el bien del alma por lo general no será sentido agradablemente por el cuerpo mientras el alma y el cuerpo estén en conflicto entre sí. Porque el cuerpo demanda lo que es perjudicial para el alma, pero lo hace sentir mejor a sí mismo. Y si el alma ahora ha de progresar en su desarrollo, entonces mucho tiene que ser retirado del cuerpo para que el alma no se vea obstaculizada en su esfuerzo. Así que, en cierta medida, el sentir y querer deben ser desviados por lo fuerza de lo terrenal, es decir, el cuerpo debe ser tratado con renuncias y decepciones de todo tipo, de tal manera que el alma se aleje en su pensamiento de las cosas que agradan al cuerpo, y puede dedicarse a su tarea real, el trabajo sobre sí misma.

Es difícil para el alma por sí sola, y por eso Dios la ayuda en la medida en que el destino de la vida del hombre le depara muchas decepciones, por eso la vida se acerca al hombre de tal manera que el deseo físico es escasamente considerado, que los bienes y alegrías terrenales se pierden para él y que a través de esto el alma entonces tiene la oportunidad de progresar, es decir aprender a superar lo terrenal y desarrollarse progresivamente.

En cambio, es diferente cuando el alma y el cuerpo se esfuerzan por un desarrollo superior, cuando el cuerpo siempre cede al deseo del alma, si también participa en la obra del cambio, que es el propósito de la vida en la tierra. Entonces las renuncias y las desilusiones ya no son tan necesarias y, por lo tanto, también se pueden ahorrar al cuerpo; porque tan pronto como ambos.... alma y cuerpo.... se esfuerzan por Dios, según el deseo del espíritu en ellos, tampoco ellos se dejan disuadir nunca de este esfuerzo, aunque el mundo se les acerque con sus demandas o tentaciones. Han sido ganados para el reino espiritual, el espíritu en ellos obra demasiado poderosamente en ellos, y pueden estar en medio de la vida sin preocuparse, ya no vuelven a caer en el deseo de los bienes terrenales, sino que se alejan cada vez más de ellos a pesar de tenerlos, porque el bien espiritual les es más deseable en cuanto lo han recibido una vez.

Las desilusiones y los sufrimientos de todo tipo son, por lo tanto, siempre una advertencia contra el debilitamiento del esfuerzo espiritual, o se supone que deben contribuir a aumentar la actividad de la voluntad, para que el trabajo sobre uno mismo se realice con la mayor intensidad, porque se imponen mayores exigencias al hombre en el campo de la actividad redentora. Este trabajo requiere perseverancia y abnegación, y el ser humano debe ser educado para ignorar el cuerpo y que , por otro lado, formar la vida del alma de tal manera que corresponda enteramente a la voluntad de Dios, que el Espíritu de Dios pueda hacerse activo para hacerle capaz para la obra espiritual, que es redentora.

Sin embargo, si el cuerpo está listo para el mismo trabajo, entonces ni las alegrías ni los sufrimientos del alma son un obstáculo para el desarrollo superior, entonces la influencia del Espíritu divino en el alma es tan fuerte que nunca puede ser disminuida por impresiones. El esfuerzo espiritual siempre estará en primer plano y nunca cesará porque el alma está completamente dominada por el espíritu en sí mismo, y tampoco tiene la voluntad de evadir su influencia, sino más bien atrae al cuerpo hacia el área espiritual, ella lo determina a unirse a los impulsos del espíritu, es decir, a hacer todo lo que el espíritu pide al alma. Y así el alma y el cuerpo están subordinados al espíritu, y esto resulta en una maduración más rápida y por lo tanto también en capacidad especial para estar activo para Dios, es decir, participar en la redención de lo que está atado.

Sin embargo, de ninguna manera se obliga al hombre de hacerlo, pero la voluntad puesta en él es estimulada a través de constantes enseñanzas espirituales que llegan al hombre en forma de pensamientos y que son a su vez apoyadas o confirmadas por la Palabra divina, que como prueba del amor divino y de la omnipresencia se ofrece a las personas que quieren recibirla y seguir transmitiéndola. Pues esta Palabra concordará con los pensamientos de aquellos que trabajan conscientemente sobre sí mismos. Y este último será aceptado por Dios como obrero de Su viña, su vida terrenal será ahora llevada y su actividad espiritual bendecida, y nunca jamás será despedido del servicio de Dios.

Encontrará apoyo a través de personas que son del mismo espíritu; también se le proporcionará poder de una manera terrenal, mientras su vida se desarrolla de tal manera que no se ve obstaculizado en su esfuerzo. Así también los acontecimientos terrenales pueden aproximarse a él sin ponerlo en grave peligro espiritual, una vez que se ha ofrecido a sí mismo para servir a Dios. Entonces su cuerpo ya no se considerará tanto a sí mismo, sino que siempre y en todos los sentidos se someterá al alma y al espíritu; en la alegría y en el dolor escuchará la voz interior a través de la cual se anuncia el Espíritu de Dios, porque reconoce su propósito de la vida terrenal y está dispuesto a contribuir a la Redención de lo atado. La voz del espíritu penetra y, por lo tanto, ya no puede ser ahogada por sufrimientos o alegrías terrenales, y este último, por lo tanto, también pueden concederse al que se esfuerza espiritualmente sin poner en peligro grave su desarrollo ascendente....
