Love and suffering purifiers....

The soul has to be purified on earth or in the beyond before it can enter the kingdom of light after its earthly demise. The soul must lose all impurity, it must be clear and pure, as it once emerged from God's strength, so that it is once again receptive for the light radiation from God, which a stained soul cannot receive. And this purification takes place on earth through love or suffering.... Love is a voluntary and suffering an involuntary means of purifying the souls, and the degree of both determines the soul's degree of light at the time of its physical death. Love and suffering together increase the degree of light, for if a loving soul has to bear suffering and affliction, it will become free of all dross, it will become what it should be in order to be able to join the eternal Godhead. A loving soul shapes itself according to God's will, for love does not allow anything impure to arise in it, it gives birth to good and noble thoughts, words and works, and where there is still a hint of impurity, of unfairness and lack of clarity, suffering helps and changes the soul so that the divine light can shine through it unhindered.... And that is why suffering is also imposed on people who live in a God-focused will and therefore seemingly no longer need suffering in order to attain knowledge. However, no soul is so bright and clear and has such a high degree of maturity that it no longer needs suffering, as this is then no longer intended to convert it but only to purify it. Suffering should first lead the human being to God but then crystallize his soul so that it is clear and transparent and receptive to every ray of light that touches it from the spiritual kingdom. As long as the human being dwells on earth, temptations will also approach him, and every temptation means a blurred spot on the soul if it does not offer stubborn resistance. Such a temptation often has to be rendered harmless through suffering, i.e. the human being has to remain completely unaffected by what suffering usually brings about, be it that the human being finds it easier to renounce or that he overcomes himself in order not to be exposed to greater suffering.... He has to fight against himself, he often gets tired of the world and its attractions, and his soul slowly reaches the state that it desires nothing more on earth than just the closeness of God.... that it only carries out works of love and is also grateful for the suffering because it noticeably earns it the closeness of God, for in suffering it takes refuge in Him and receives His strength which now completely permeates the soul, expels all impurities from it and places it into the degree of maturity which results in entering the kingdom of light. This is a process of purification which is painful but which will certainly lead to the goal if the human being is of God's will. For then the suffering will only allow him to make contact with Him all the more intimately, and every contact with God signifies an influx of strength, it signifies a radiance of love, and the fire of divine love is a further means of purification which is likewise used through the person's own activity of love.... For love dissolves everything, it purifies and radiates through everything, and in connection with suffering it must spiritualize the soul and make it a bearer of light, because it is now free of all dross and it achieves a high degree of maturity which secures its entry into the kingdom of light in the beyond....

Liefde en leed als louteringsmiddel

De ziel moet gelouterd worden op aarde of in het hiernamaals, voordat ze het lichtrijk binnen kan gaan na haar aardse sterven. De ziel moet elke onreinheid kwijtraken. Ze moet helder en zuiver zijn zoals ze eens uit de kracht van God is voortgekomen, opdat ze weer in staat is de lichtstraling uit God op te nemen, die een bevlekte ziel niet kan ontvangen. En deze loutering voltrekt zich op aarde door liefde of leed. De liefde is een vrijwillig, het leed een onvrijwillig middel om de ziel te zuiveren, en de mate van beide bepaalt de lichtgraad waarin de ziel zich bevindt bij de dood van het lichaam. Liefde en leed tezamen verhogen de lichtgraad, want als een liefdevolle ziel leed en droefenis heeft te dragen, zal ze van alle onreinheden vrij worden. Ze zal zo worden, zoals ze zijn moet om zich bij de eeuwige Godheid aan te kunnen sluiten. Een liefdevolle ziel vormt zich naar de wil van God, want de liefde laat niets onreins in zich opkomen, ze brengt goede en edele gedachten, woorden en werken voort. En waar nog een vleug van onreinheid, van oneerlijkheid en onduidelijkheid aanwezig is, daar helpt het leed een handje en verandert de ziel, zodat het goddelijke licht haar ongehinderd kan doorstralen. En daarom is ook die mensen opgelegd leed te dragen, die leven in een op God gerichte wil en daarom het leed schijnbaar niet meer nodig hebben om tot inzicht te komen.

Maar geen ziel is zo licht en helder en staat in zo’n hoge graad van rijpheid, dat ze het leed niet meer nodig heeft, waar dit haar dan niet moet bekeren, maar alleen louteren. Het leed moet eerst de mens naar God toe leiden, daarna echter zijn ziel kristalliseren, opdat ze helder en doorzichtig is en ontvankelijk voor elke lichtstraal die haar vanuit het geestelijke rijk treft. Zolang de mens op aarde vertoeft, komen ook de verzoekingen op hem af en elke verzoeking betekent een troebele vlek op de ziel als ze niet hardnekkig weerstand biedt. Vaak moet nu door leed zo’n verzoeking onschadelijk worden gemaakt, dat wil zeggen de mens moet er helemaal niet door geraakt worden, wat leed meestal tot stand brengt, hetzij de mens valt het gemakkelijker ervan af te zien, of hij overwint zichzelf, om niet aan zwaarder leed te zijn blootgesteld. Hij moet tegen zichzelf strijden, hij wordt de wereld en haar bekoorlijkheden vaak beu en zijn ziel komt langzaam in de toestand terecht dat ze niets meer begeert op aarde dan alleen de nabijheid van God, dat ze alleen liefdewerken verricht en ook voor het leed dankbaar is omdat het haar voelbaar de nabijheid van God oplevert. Want in het leed neemt ze haar toevlucht tot Hem en ze ontvangt Zijn kracht, die nu de ziel geheel doordringt, al het onreine uit haar verdrijft en haar verplaatst in een graad van rijpheid die het binnengaan in het lichtrijk tot gevolg heeft.

Dit is een louteringsmiddel dat weliswaar smartelijk is, maar dat zeker naar het doel voert als de mens zijn wil op God heeft gericht. Want dan laat het leed hem alleen maar des te inniger zich verbinden met Hem en elke toenadering tot God betekent toevoer van kracht. Het betekent doorstraling met liefde. En het vuur van de goddelijke liefde is een verder louteringsmiddel dat door zelf werkzaam te zijn in liefde eveneens wordt toegepast. Want de liefde lost alles op. Ze loutert en doorstraalt alles en in verbinding met leed moet ze de ziel vergeestelijken en tot een lichtdrager maken, omdat ze nu van onreinheden bevrijd is en ze een hoge graad van rijpheid verkrijgt die haar het binnengaan in het lichtrijk hierna verzekert.
