True community of souls from an inner drive....

A heartfelt community of souls should unite people with each other so that they will strive upwards together and spur each other on to live a life of love and profound faith. True community is conducive to the maturing of souls, yet people must strive for it of their own accord, they must feel urged in their hearts to give their love to their fellow human being and thus seek each other out in order to cultivate a spiritual exchange of ideas, in order to give and receive what they possess or desire in terms of spiritual possessions. As soon as coercion is exercised, i.e. a community is formed according to plan which people are supposed to join, its value is diminished, for it then lacks the intimacy which constitutes the value of a community in the first place. And this is why such endeavours will rarely be of benefit to the soul which are supposed to be works of love but which, at best, are merely prescribed actions which are supposed to testify to a sense of community.... which are supposed to be works of neighbourly love but which are carried out without an urge of the heart.... which are only done in order to feign outwardly a community which, however, lacks the inner spirit of love. Rather, this is a mechanical performance of certain duties that have nothing in common with active neighbourly love, because it is not the deed itself that determines the value of an action, but the degree of love in the heart of the person who performs it. However, a person is in danger of ceasing to act in love if he is systematically encouraged to do so in a community. An intimate community of souls, on the other hand, promotes loving activity of its own accord and people feel urged to do good deeds because they are not demanded of them but are carried out entirely of their own free will and therefore only have real value before God....

Verdadera comunidad de almas desde el impulso interior....

Una comunidad íntima de almas debería conectar a los humanos entre sí para que puedan esforzarse juntos hacia las alturas y alentarse unos a otros para vivir una vida de amor y fe profunda. La verdadera comunidad lleva a la maduración de las almas, pero los humanos deben esforzarse por lograrla por iniciativa propia, deben sentirse impulsados en su corazón a dar su amor a sus semejantes y, por tanto, buscarse unos a otros para cultivar un intercambio espiritual de ideas para dar y recibir lo que poseen o deseen de bienes espirituales.

Tan pronto como se ejerce una coerción, es decir, se forma una comunidad planificada a la que se supone que los humanos deben unirse, su valor se reduce porque entonces carece de la intimidad que constituye el valor de una comunidad. Y es por eso que rara vez tales esfuerzos son inútiles para el alma, que se supone que son actos de amor, pero que, en lo mejor de los casos, son sólo acciones de acuerdo con normas que se supone que dan testimonio del sentido de comunidad.... que se supone que son obras de caridad, pero que se llevan a cabo sin el impulso interior del corazón.... que sólo se hacen para simular exteriormente una comunidad, que, sin embargo, carece del espíritu interior de amor.

Se trata más bien de un ejercicio mecánico de ciertos deberes que nada tienen que ver con la caridad activa, porque no es el acto mismo el que determina el valor de una acción, sino el grado de amor en el corazón de quien lo realiza. Sin embargo, los humanos corren el riesgo de detener ellos mismos la obra del amor si se los anima de manera planificada a hacerlo en una comunidad. La comunidad íntima de almas, por otro lado, promueve la actividad amorosa por iniciativa propia, y los humanos se sienten obligados a realizar buenas acciones porque tales acciones no son requeridas de ellos, sino que se llevan a cabo con total libre albedrío y, sólo entonces tienen también un valor real ante Dios....
