Spiritual knowledge is the result of the right walk before God....

It remains incomprehensible to people that spiritual knowledge is the result of the right way of life before God.... that therefore it is not the striving for knowledge through systematic schooling which makes a person knowledgeable but that the latter can be completely eliminated and yet profound knowledge can be gained if the human being, instead of striving for scholastic wisdom, endeavours to live according to God's will.... that therefore the right wisdom is not acquired mentally but that the heart and its feelings are decisive if the human being wants to become knowledgeable. Man can certainly acquire human wisdom by way of the intellect, but this is only applicable to earthly life, thus also only useful for earthly life, but can never increase spiritual knowledge in the slightest. Spiritual knowledge is completely independent of earthly endeavour, of earthly eagerness to learn and the successes or results gained in this way. And this is why a person whose thoughts and actions are not based on his love remains spiritually ignorant, even though he fills his life exclusively with intellectual research, for he always remains outside the spiritual kingdom and his knowledge of it is inadequate; for him this kingdom is an unenlightened realm, a realm which is unrecognizable to him in its darkness and which he therefore does not try to explore as it does not exist. Consequently, he does not acquire spiritual knowledge, he does not desire it and does nothing to make himself receptive to it. He therefore does not consciously work on himself, he neither seeks to ennoble his nature nor to consciously walk according to God's will, and thus his heart will also not be receptive to spiritual wisdom if it is imparted to him by his fellow human being. A person who feels and acts in a good and noble way is different in his whole thinking than a person who spends his life in unkindness towards his fellow human beings and in self-love. The former will pay attention to everything that brings him closer to the divine creator.... he will recognize the activity of a power in, around and above himself and come into contact with this power, and thus he will be made mentally aware of God's will, i.e. he will recognize the divine order and know that only life in the divine order will bring him closer to the eternal deity. And if he has the will to come closer to God, God will also come to meet him, and that in the form of knowledge. Thus, living according to God's will will always determine man's knowledge. Even if the human being does not consciously strive for divine wisdom but he will not be able to think other than correctly if it concerns spiritual things, things which lie outside of the earthly, which do not concern the body but its soul and spirit. And he will affirm these thoughts without reluctance, he will feel with a certain certainty that his thoughts correspond to the truth and announce them to his fellow human beings, for his spirit will tell him that he is thinking correctly. And where people who are active in love and strive for what is good come together the exchange of thoughts will result in complete agreement, and from this alone it is evident that they all live in truth, that they have mentally received the same information and that they can therefore rightly call themselves knowledgeable. And the more people endeavour to shape themselves, i.e. their soul, the deeper they penetrate spiritual knowledge. Soon there is nothing left for them that is unclear or incomprehensible. For a well-formed soul is constantly active in love.... activity of love attracts God.... and God, as the eternal truth, distributes it to the human being as proof of His love for him. And thus the human being will truly be well-informed and have great knowledge at his disposal when he concludes his earthly life.... But the one who acquires earthly wisdom through study or research, who absorbs humanly gained wisdom, will not always find himself in the truth. It can certainly also come to him if his attitude towards God is in accordance with His will, but then it can never be attributed to intellectual pondering or research, only his way of life will give him the knowledge of truth.... And the human being takes this knowledge with him into eternity, whereas earthly knowledge remains behind or rather fades into nothingness and a person who is held in high esteem on earth can enter the beyond poor in spiritual possessions as soon as he attaches too much value to his earthly knowledge and does not fulfil the preconditions which earn him spiritual knowledge on earth....

Geestelijke kennis is een gevolg van de juiste levenswandel voor God

Het blijft onbegrijpelijk voor de mens, dat geestelijke kennis het gevolg is van de juiste levenswandel voor God. Dat dus niet het nastreven van kennis via de weg van de methodische scholing de mens wetend maakt, maar het laatste volledig geëlimineerd wordt en toch de diepste kennis verkregen kan worden, wanneer de mens in plaats van schoolse wijsheid na te streven, zijn best doet om volgens de wil van God te leven. Dat zodoende niet met het hoofd de juiste wijsheid verworven wordt, maar met het hart en dat het gevoel van dit hart bepalend is, als de mens wetend wil worden.

De mens kan zich wel via de weg van het verstand menselijke wijsheid toe-eigenen, Maar dit is alleen maar voor het aardse leven bruikbaar, dus ook alleen maar voor het aardse leven nuttig, maar kan nooit maar in het minst de geestelijke kennis vergroten. Geestelijke kennis is volledig onafhankelijk van aards streven, van aardse studie-ijver en de zo behaalde successen of verworven resultaten. En daarom blijft een mens, wiens denken en handelen niet gebaseerd zijn op zijn liefde, geestelijk onwetend, ofschoon hij zijn leven uitsluitend met verstandsmatig onderzoeken vult, want hij blijft steeds buiten het geestelijke rijk en zijn kennis hiervan is gebrekkig. Voor hem is dit rijk een onbelicht gebied. Een gebied, dat in zijn duisternis onherkenbaar voor hem is en hij het daarom als niet aanwezig zijnde ook niet probeert te onderzoeken.

Bijgevolg maakt hij zich ook geen geestelijke kennis eigen. Hij begeert het niet en doet ook niets om zich te ontwikkelen tot in staat te zijn om te ontvangen. Hij werkt dus niet bewust aan zichzelf. Hij probeert noch zijn wezen te veredelen, noch zich bewust volgens de wil van God te veranderen. En dus zal ook zijn hart niet in staat zijn om geestelijke wijsheid op te nemen, als deze hem door medemensen gegeven wordt.

De goed en edel voelende en handelende mens is in zijn gehele denken anders dan een mens, die zijn leven in liefdeloosheid jegens de medemensen en in zelfliefde doorbrengt. De eerste zal aandacht schenken aan alles, waar de goddelijke Schepper hem beter mee vertrouwd maakt. Hij zal in, rondom en boven zich het werkzaam zijn van een macht herkennen en met deze macht in contact komen en zodoende zal hij via de gedachten opmerkzaam worden gemaakt op de wil van God. Dat wil zeggen dat hij de goddelijke ordening zal herkennen en weten dat enkel het leven binnen de goddelijke ordening hem nader tot de eeuwige Godheid brengt. En als hij de wil heeft om nader tot God te komen, dan komt God hem ook tegemoet en dat in de vorm van kennis. Dan zal dus het leven volgens de wil van God altijd de kennis van de mens bepalen.

Ook wanneer de mens niet bewust de goddelijke wijsheid nastreeft, zal hij echter niet anders dan juist kunnen denken, als het om geestelijke zaken handelt. Om zaken, die buiten het aardse liggen. Die niet het lichaam, maar diens ziel en geest betreffen. En hij zal zonder tegenwerken positief staan ten opzichte van deze gedachten. Hij zal met een bepaalde zekerheid zijn gedachten als overeenkomstig de waarheid ervaren en deze aan zijn medemensen bekendmaken, want zijn geest vertelt hem, dat hij juist denkt. En waar liefdadige mensen, die het goede nastreven, samenkomen, zal de gedachtenuitwisseling volledige overeenstemming als resultaat hebben. En al daaruit wordt het duidelijk, dat ze allen in de waarheid wandelen. Dat ze via de gedachten hetzelfde gekregen hebben en dat ze zich daarom met recht wetend kunnen noemen.

En hoe meer de mensen hun best doen om zichzelf, dat wil zeggen hun ziel, te ontwikkelen, des te dieper dringen ze de geestelijke kennis binnen. Spoedig zal er niets meer zijn, wat voor hen onduidelijk of onbegrijpelijk is. Want een goed ontwikkelde ziel is voortdurend werkzaam in de liefde. Werkzaamheid in liefde trekt God aan. En God, als de eeuwige waarheid, geeft deze waarheid aan de mensen als het bewijs van Zijn liefde voor hen. En zo zal de mens werkelijk goed onderricht worden en over een grote kennis beschikken, als hij het aardse leven besluit.

Maar degene, die zich aardse wijsheid eigen maakt door studie of onderzoek, die menselijk verworven wijsheid in zich opneemt, zal niet altijd in de waarheid staan. Ze kan hem ook wel toegestuurd worden, als zijn instelling tegenover God overeenkomstig Zijn wil is, maar dan is ze nooit naar verstandsmatig piekeren of onderzoeken terug te leiden, maar enkel zijn levenswandel levert hem de kennis van de waarheid op. En deze kennis neemt de mens mee naar de eeuwigheid, terwijl aardse kennis achterblijft of veeleer in een niets vergaat en een op aarde in hoog aanzien staand mens arm aan geestelijke goederen het hiernamaals binnen kan gaan, zodra hij aan zijn aardse kennis te veel waarde hecht en niet de voorwaarden vervult, die hem op aarde geestelijke kennis opleveren.
