Reasons for the fight against the spiritual.... weakness and strength....

The awareness of his own lack of strength determines the human being to entrust himself to a strength-giving power and to request such a power, and therefore the feeling of weakness is always an advantage, even though earthly it is considered to be the greatest disadvantage. The world, i.e. the people who live in the world, only seeks to fulfil earthly tasks and requires more or less strength and willpower to do so. It sees a decline in these as a shortcoming and now seeks to fathom the causes of this, namely.... as the influence of the adversary.... it believes it has found them in spiritual endeavour. And that is why it is fighting against it with all means at its disposal. Precisely that which alone is beneficial and successful for the soul is seen as a disadvantage and is therefore fought against. It is assumed that the belief in a higher power and in its assistance or imparting of strength reduces the human being's earthly endeavours accordingly, that the human being's own development of strength thus diminishes and he expectantly abandons himself to the working of that power and one tries to prevent this by trying to destroy the belief in a higher power, especially the belief in the imparting of strength without one's own effort. The world seeks to invalidate the strength and power of prayer. It demands precisely the opposite.... extraordinary strength or development of the will without the help of a power from above, because it regards physical strength or intellectual thinking alone as valuable, which is capable of mastering earthly demands. Such a view, however, prevents any spiritual endeavour. For spiritual progress can only be achieved through the mediation of grace and such grace can only ever be gained through prayer. Prayer, however, presupposes the recognition of a power that can and wants to impart grace and strength, and this strength should also be requested. Man should not only try to overcome the feeling of weakness through increased earthly activity, but he should turn to the one Who alone can change this feeling through His grace, through the imparting of that which man lacks for spiritual higher development. For the highest earthly development does not bring a person spiritual success; only when he feels small and weak does he take the path to God, and only then does he fulfil the actual earthly task, which may bring him little earthly but all the greater spiritual success....

Le motif de la lutte contre la spirituel - Faiblesse et la Force

La conscience de son absence de Force incite l'homme à se confier à une Puissance qui donne la Force et à la demander, et donc la sensation de faiblesse est toujours un avantage, bien que du point de vue terrestre elle soit considérée comme le plus grand désavantage. Le monde c'est-à-dire les hommes qui vivent pour le monde, cherchent seulement à satisfaire les tâches terrestres et cela nécessite plus ou moins de force et une forte volonté. Un ralentissement de celle-ci est considéré comme un manque et maintenant ils cherchent à en sonder les causes, mais comme ils sont sous l’influence de l'adversaire, ils croient les avoir trouvées dans la tendance spirituelle. Et donc ils s’opposent à cette tendance par tous les moyens. Et tout ce qui apporte une bénédiction et un succès pour l'âme est considéré comme un désavantage et donc combattu. Ils considèrent que la foi dans une Puissance supérieure et dans Son Assistance quant à la transmission de la Force diminue la tendance terrestre respective de l'homme, que donc le développement de la force de l'homme faiblit, parce qu’il se confie plein d'espoir à l’action de cette Puissance, donc maintenant il cherche à l’empêcher en cherchant à détruire la foi dans une Puissance supérieure, en particulier la foi dans l'apport de Force sans sa contribution. Le monde cherche à miner la force et le pouvoir de la prière. Il promeut vraiment le contraire, une force extraordinaire ou le développement de la volonté sans se servir d'une Force d'en haut, parce qu'il considère comme uniquement précieuse la force corporelle ou bien la pensée de l’entendement qui est en mesure d'affronter des exigences terrestres. Mais un tel point de vue mine toute tendance spirituelle, parce qu'un progrès spirituel peut être atteint seulement à travers la transmission de la Grâce et celle-ci peut être conquise seulement à travers la prière. Mais une prière suppose la reconnaissance d’une Puissance qui peut et veut transmettre la Grâce et la Force et cette Force doit aussi être demandée. L'homme ne doit pas seulement chercher à dépasser la sensation de faiblesse à travers une augmentation de l'activité terrestre, mais il doit se tourner vers Celui qui, Seul, peut changer cette sensation à travers Sa Grâce, à travers la transmission de ce qui manque à l'homme pour son développement spirituel vers le Haut. Parce que le plus grand développement terrestre ne procure à l'homme aucun succès spirituel ; seulement lorsque l’homme se sent petit et faible il parcourt la voie vers Dieu et seulement alors il s'acquitte de la vraie tâche terrestre qui lui procure certes peu de succès terrestre, mais le maximum de succès spirituel.
