Shaping destiny - free will....

Man is incapable of shaping his life on his own authority; he will always be dependent on the will of the one Who created him. He is seemingly endowed with gifts that make him believe in his own power. He feels exalted, wise and strong and is convinced that he can master life himself and that he also determines his own destiny. He is able to act of his own free will and thus, through this will, apparently becomes the creator of his life on earth.... But the actual controller of his destiny is God Himself.... For his path on earth has been determined since eternity. He walks it exactly as God has determined, and as he has moulded it in his instinct for freedom, so it was determined, since nothing can happen without the divine will. So the walk through the valley of the earth always corresponds to the divine will in its outward manifestations.... Only the inner life of man is left to his free will.... and even if his fate in life is predetermined, each one will bring about the soul's higher development if this is his firm will. Conversely, however, his path through life can correspond entirely to his will and desire; it need not bring him the maturity of the soul if he does not live in accordance with his purpose. But the latter is only to be understood as the utilization of the possibilities which are offered to him for the higher development of the soul during his earthly existence. This is completely up to him. God gives every person such opportunities, regardless of how he organizes the individual's path through life. And if these are utilized, life on earth will also be successful for eternity. However, a person cannot arbitrarily give this earthly life a twist without divine approval. And it may seem as if it depends on him alone how the fate of his life plays out. God allows the human being free will, and this will often goes hand in hand with divine will, i.e. the human being undertakes something and God allows this because it does not go against His will either. And then the human being is inclined to believe that he alone was decisive for his fate on earth. And the more he is convinced of this the more he loses his faith in a wise controller of destiny. And yet he is completely powerless in the face of it, and he does not realize that he is merely carrying out divine will if he believes that he can intervene decisively in his earthly life....

La formation du destin - la libre volonté

L'homme est incapable de former sa vie de sa propre initiative ; il dépendra toujours de la Volonté de Celui qui l'a créé. Il est apparemment pourvu avec des Dons qui lui font croire en son pouvoir. Il se sent supérieur, sage et fort et est convaincu qu'il peut affronter la vie tout seul et que lui-même détermine aussi son destin. Il peut certes agir dans la libre volonté et à travers cette dernière il devient apparemment l'auteur de sa vie terrestre. Mais le vrai Guide de son destin est Dieu Lui-Même, parce que sa voie terrestre a déjà été déterminée depuis l'Éternité. Il la parcourt vraiment comme Dieu l'a décidé, et comme il s'est formé dans son impulsion de liberté, ainsi il était déterminé, vu que sans la Volonté divine rien ne peut se produire. Donc le parcours à travers la vallée terrestre correspond toujours à la Volonté divine dans son extériorité. Seulement la vie intérieure est laissée à la libre volonté de l'homme, et même si le destin de sa vie est prédéterminé, chacun contribuera au développement de son âme vers le Haut, si cela est sa ferme volonté. Vice versa sa vie peut correspondre entièrement à sa volonté et à son désir, sans lui procurer nécessairement la maturité de l'âme, s’il ne vit pas conformément au but. Avec cela il faut entendre seulement l'exploitation des possibilités qui lui sont offertes pour le développement de l'âme vers Haut pendant son existence terrestre. Cela est laissé totalement à son libre choix. Dieu donne à chaque homme de telles possibilité, peu importe comment la vie de l'individu est formée. Et si celles-ci sont utilisées, alors la vie terrestre sera un succès pour l'Éternité. Mais l'homme ne peut pas donner à cette vie terrestre arbitrairement un tournant sans l'Assentiment divin, même s’il peut lui sembler que la façon dont se déroule pour lui le destin de la vie dépendait de lui seul. Dieu laisse à l'homme la libre volonté, et souvent cette volonté ne correspond pas avec la Volonté divine, c'est-à-dire que l'homme entreprend quelque chose, et Dieu le permet, parce que cela ne va pas contre Sa Volonté. Et alors l'homme a tendance à croire que lui seul a été déterminant pour son destin terrestre. Et plus il en est convaincu, plus il perd sa foi dans un sage Guide du destin. Et malgré cela, il est complètement impuissant face à Celui-ci, et il ne sait pas qu'il exécute seulement ce qui est la Volonté divine, lorsqu’il croit intervenir d’une manière déterminante dans sa vie terrestre.
