Humility.... Grace....

Humility is rooted in the realization of one's own inadequacy, and this in turn gives birth to prayer, for humility is the feeling of unworthiness and weakness and this has to be remedied through grace and help. As long as a person feels small, he will be able to ask and give heartfelt thanks for the grace received, but he who is arrogant will truly not raise his hands to the father, for he feels strong enough to overcome resistance. He no longer bows to a power that is above him, but is aware of his worth and stands exalted above the one who asks for help. If he lacks something, he demands it and takes everything offered to him for granted. And such a person cannot enjoy God's grace either, he will certainly receive the strength from God which he needs for his earthly life, yet his soul is in greatest danger, for it has too little strength at its disposal since it lacks the will to request this strength from God and to humbly accept it. Consequently, earthly life is then lived in vain, for it does not bring the soul release from its shackle, even though the human being has only claimed the strength from God for his body. It is a state which does not correspond to God's will if the human being is arrogant towards Him, for this is why the being has travelled the long path on earth in spellbound form in order to regocnize its powerlessness and to let it regocnize the distance from God, which is now to be reduced through genuine filial love. An arrogant spirit, however, increases the distance from God in an unimaginable way. Arrogance was the cause of the apostasy from God, and now only the deepest humility can bring the being closer to the eternal deity again. For God loves His creatures and makes His grace available to them without measure. It is this grace, power from God, which flows to the spiritual in man. If certain demands are now made on man, then this only happens so that man freely decides in favour of union with God or in favour of continued separation from Him. He must strive for one or the other out of innermost drive; if the feeling of arrogance prevails in him, he must learn to regocnize his unworthiness through earthly life, so that he turns to his creator in prayer and now receives the strength which shapes him in such a way that the distance from God becomes less and less. And this has then been brought about by inner humility, for a humble person surrenders his own will and completely submits himself to the divine will. The lord gives His grace to the humble.... Through humility he establishes the right relationship with God, humility allows him to ask for strength, which can only come to man if it is consciously requested. Inner humility is the confession of the former guilt that caused the apostasy from God. Humility is the surest guarantee that the father will lovingly incline Himself towards His child and draw it up to His fatherly heart.... that the spirit from God will reunite with the father-spirit....

겸손. 은혜.

자신의 부족함을 깨닫는 일이 겸손의 뿌리이다. 이를 깨달음으로 기도를 한다. 왜냐하면 겸손은 자신이 자격이 없다는 느낌과 자신이 연약하다는 느낌으로, 이 두 가지를 은혜와 도움으로 해결해야만 하기 때문이다. 사람이 자신을 작게 여기는 한, 그는 구할 수 있고, 받은 은혜에 대해 깊이 감사하게 된다. 그러나 자신을 높이는 사람은 진실로 손을 들어 하나님께 구하지 않는다. 왜냐하면 그는 자신이 어려움을 극복할 수 있을 정도로 강하다고 느끼기 때문이다. 그는 더 이상 자신 위에 있는 권세에 굴복하지 않고, 자기 자신의 가치에 자신감을 가지고, 도움을 구하는 사람 앞에서 자신을 높인다. 그에게 어떤 것이 부족하면, 그는 요구하지만, 그에게 주어진 것을 당연지사로 여긴다.

이런 사람은 하나님의 은혜로 인해 기뻐할 수 없다. 그가 이 땅의 삶을 위해 필요한 능력이 실제 하나님으로부터 그에게 주어질지라도, 그의 혼은 아주 큰 위험 가운데 있다. 왜냐하면 그에게 하나님께 능력을 구하고, 겸손하게 받으려는 의지가 부족하여, 그에게 능력이 부족하기 때문이다. 그는 이 땅의 삶을 쓸모 없이 산다. 왜냐하면 비록 그가 하나님께 능력을 구할지라도 단지 자신의 육체만을 위해 구하기 때문에, 혼이 묶임으로부터 자유롭게 될 수 없기 때문이다. 사람이 하나님 앞에 거만한 자세를 갖는다면, 이 상태는 하나님의 뜻에 합당한 상태가 아니다. 왜냐하면 존재는 자신의 부족함을 깨닫고, 그리고 하나님과의 간격을 깨닫고, 어린아이처럼 진정으로 사랑함으로 이 간격을 줄이기 위해, 묶인 상태에서 이 땅의 긴 과정을 가기 때문이다.

그러나 거만한 영은 상상할 수 없을 정도로 하나님으로부터 멀어지게 한다. 교만은 하나님을 떠나 타락하게 된 원인이다. 단지 가장 깊은 겸손만이 존재가 영원한 하나님께 다시 가까이 갈 수 있게 한다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 자신의 피조물들을 사랑하고 그들이 합당하지 않지만, 은혜를 받을 수 있게 하기 때문이다. 하나님의 능력이 사람 안에 있는 영적인 존재에게 흘러 간다. 만약에 사람에게 이제 어떤 요구들을 하면, 이는 단지 사람이 하나님과 하나가 될 것인지 또는 계속하여 하나님으로부터 멀어질 것인지 자유롭게 결정하게 하기 위한 것이다. 가장 깊은 내면에서 동인이 되어 둘 중 하나를 추구해야만 한다. 만약에 그 안에 교만한 생각이 지배하고 있으면, 이 땅의 삶을 통해 자기의 부족함을 깨닫고, 자신의 창조주에게 능력을 구하여, 하나님과의 거리가 갈수록 줄어 들게 하는, 자신을 변화시킬 수 있는 능력을 받아야만 한다.

내적인 겸손이 이런 상태에 이르게 한다. 겸손한 사람은 자기를 부인하고 전적으로 하나님의 의지에 복종한다. 하나님은 겸손한 자에게 은혜를 베푼다. 겸손으로 그는 하나님과 올바른 관계를 세운다. 겸손이 하나님께 능력을 구하게 만든다. 이 능력은 사람들이 단지 의식적으로 구할 때 그에게 제공된다. 겸손은 한 때에 하나님으로부터 멀어지게 만든 자신의 죄를 인정하는 일이다. 겸손은 아버지가 충만한 사랑으로 자기 자녀에게 다가와서, 아버지의 심장으로 끌어 올리기 위한 가장 안전한 보장이고, 하나님으로부터 나온 영이 다시 아버지의 영과 하나가 되기 위한 가장 안전한 보장이다.
